From cute little sushi places to places that specialise in sous-vide chicken (Chicks on Fire FTW!) to arts and crafts to couture latex there are huge changes. Homeburger is the latest of these. This is their seminal outlet and my have they done well. The shop itself has the level of detail that one would expect from a Soho hipster permanent popup with custom wallpaper, great decor and wonderfully cute custom boxes. Remember this is a takeaway or delivery place only; you really do have to be home to eat. The food, if the soft opening is anything to go by, has a very bright future. Before we even get to the burgers lets start with the sides. The mac n cheese was heart cloggingly wonderful with plenty of hot sticky cheese that lasted a couple of days (Indeed I'm just finishing it off now). The chocolate peanut butter pie had peanut butter mousse, chocolate mousse, cornflakes & a golden syrup crust. Yes it was as good at it sounds, we were just lucky that it is best served cold so we could have it later. This seriously good treat must be tried. The triple cooked slightly burnt (in a good way) unpeeled chips were great if just a little too salted. A nice touch was the included ketchup and BBQ sauce (though this was a little too sweet for me). Now for the burgers. These were EPIC. They blew the local Five Guys and Byron out of the water and, dare I say it, better than Honest Burger while being at least on a par with Patty and Bun. They all have big thick medium rare patties in a toasted brioche bun and the special 'homesauce'. We went for the 'Cheese Homeburger' which had cheddar & American cheese with fried onion relish, and the BBQ Beach Hut which was topped off with slow cooked BBQ beef brisket, coleslaw and pickled red onions. The prices were competitive with Byron at £8 to £12 for a burger but without the choice of eating it there. Luckily the quality makes it worth it and really does make home something to look forward to. As you can see I'm a very spoilt local fan.

Despite the fairly high-level branding and style, it is a take-away and delivery place only and their strong packaging definitely reflects that. As you can see in the pics, the burgers are boxed incredibly well in vented, complicated, but elegantly put together heavy cardboard. Now the burger itself has a smoky flavour which immediately made me realise why my omnivorous friend liked it. The bread was soft and the burger texture was great with mushrooms and lentils/quinoa. I thought the portion was huge and it kept me going for 2 meals which is about right I think, for a £8 take-away price. All in all, you can see the care that has gone into this place and I thoroughly recommend it!

**July 2022: Dinner Visit**…read more Fast food usually isn't usually my preference when traveling; however, this McDonalds is directly across from the Palace Theater, which is where they show the Cursed Child (which is magical in every way and you must watch if visiting!). As I'm sure many theater patrons would agree the timing of a 1st Act (Methinks 2pm-5pm) and 2nd Act (7pm-9pm) act doesn't leave much room for travel and dinning especially if you're not familiar with the area. Nevertheless, this McDonalds had ample seating, clean open bathrooms (that did not require a key/bathroom code), and they had some unique items that differ from the offerings in the States. On my visit I went to the touch screen kiosk to select a few items which included a 9 piece chicken nugget with Sweet and Sour Sauce and an Indian Curry Sauce (which was pretty interesting) as well as a Tiramisu McFlurry. Both items came out pretty quick and considering the need to rush back to the theater it was just what I needed so my stomach didn't growl during the performance. Overall, this McDonalds is very convenient if you're in need of sustenance in a pinch!

It was great!…read more The exterior is a bit unassuming and I wasn't expecting much, but the Double Cheeseburger was very good: two juicy, smash-style burgers inside of a perfectly warmed sesame bun. The meat was seasoned to perfection and really allowed for the natural beef flavor to come through. There are tons of great options at Spitalfield's and this is probably one of the best spots. Aged beef patty with pickle, ketchup and mustard. Had the cheeseburger with proper melty American cheese which really is the best for burgers. Good bun too that holds together. The burgers are cooked medium and I mean a proper pink medium, not just browned on the edges verging on raw in the middle which some other places are doing. The taste and overall experience is right up there and everything is just right, especially the beef patty itself which was perfection. Decent fries too. The range of burgers on offer is good, with your basic classic burger to the chilli burger and the seasonal treat of Father Cheesemas. I didn't try the father Cheesemas as I didn't think I was hungry enough for that, but there is still time to get back and try one before the festive period is over. There were quiet a few people in this branch of Byron but you could still have a conversation without having to shout to hear yourself, always a positive. The staff were attentive, cheery and helpful. The time between ordering and getting our burgers was just right as my popcorn filled stomach was just telling me there was space which needed to be filled with proper food, and so it was. I will be back to a Byron's to see if I can catch the Father Cheesemas experience.

Bleecker's Cheeseburger 10/10 - National Burger of the Year 2024…read more I'd heard Bleecker's is the burger spot in London, so of course, I had to give it a try - and let's just say, it did not disappoint. Bleecker's cheeseburger was simple yet completely mind-blowing. Normally, I find that great burgers rely on toppings to really bring the flavor, but this one? Just a plain cheeseburger, no extras, and it was truly one of the best burgers I've ever had. The beef itself was so flavorful and juicy, with the cheese melting perfectly over it - I was shocked at how good it was without all the frills. My friend tried their Simplicity burger, which is vegan, and it was honestly just as impressive. I'm usually not the biggest fan of vegan burgers (I've had a few misses in the past), but this one tasted almost identical to a classic beef burger. Genuinely a pleasant surprise! We went around 11 pm on a weekday, and the line was still out the door - that says it all about how popular Bleecker's is. The service was awesome, too.
