Gotta say, the ONE server they had for dinner service was incredible! Handled the whole restaurant front of house during a dinner rush. About four 4 tops came in within minutes of each other, including ours, and he didn't miss a beat with a smile! To top it off, the food was as authentic and homemade as could be. From the homemade salsa to the specialty teas and drinks, flavor is not lacking. We started with the chips and Pico de Gallo, so fresh! Steak empanadas, chicken taco salad, cheese quesadilla, and Carne tacos - all amazing! The Tamarindo drink is definitely worth a try as well, almost like a sweet tea. I was looking for a competent meal that was not astronomically overpriced and feel fortunate to have wandered into Blessing Restaurant. It's nearby the Gettysburg National Military Park and has it's own parking lot. The decor and furnishings are not fancy but they are colourful and have their own charm. The real secrets to this place seem to be the authenticity of the family running it and their food. My server was a young lady who was very eager to please despite an apparently limited facility in English. Specifically I was looking for help choosing between Pupusas and Birria Tacos but, alas, I was unable to successfully communicate my desire. So, on my own I chose the Birria Tacos and was *not* disappointed. After placing my order my server returned quickly with home made nachos and home made salsa. Delicious. Shortly thereafter my tacos arrived and were plentiful, flavourful, and devoured with gusto. My quibble is that I wish the flatwear had a little more heft as I feel this would be a more proper match for the quality of the food. Service was quick and eager and, perhaps, a bit. As such I was not put out when my bill arrived before I'd finished enjoying my meal. I think she was just being efficient and truly not aware of the etiquette breach. We have lived in Gettysburg for 8 years, however today was our first visit to Blessings which has been open for 2 years. We visited at about 230PM on a mild March Sunday afternoon , thus we're immediate seated. We received a warm welcome, and prompt, courteous service. The food was truly delicious with generous serving size. The restaurant was quite clean and reasonably priced. I ordered a vegetarian fajita with coconut milk, and were had a tray of nachos and salsa which was delightfully spicey. They have take out and used Doordash and perhaps another delivery agent. I love seeing Birria tacos on the menu, but I am mindful that they may be disappointing. The tacos were just OK, I did not like the type or texture of the tortillas. The food is good here but they did not provide good service tonight. When we walked in 20 mins before closing, the server told us they were out of all steak (and optional ingredient for most of the menu). Ok, we were fine with that. But when we ordered chips and queso, they told us they were out of queso. And then when we said we would just take chips and salsa, they told us they were out of chips. Their queso is very good here and the main reason we came. It's not good service to advertise that you are open until a certain time but then be unable to provide the food you advertised because you wanted to stop making more at some point before closing. At the very least, don't hand people menus and then tell people after they have ordered that you don't have things that are on the menu you just handed out. read more

This is not your typical Tex Mex restaurant. They have tacos, burritos, and fajitas. But there are items on the menu from Central and South America. Pupusas and empanadas are something you don't see everyday. They also make their own tortillas. What does that tell you? Yep, they take pride in their food. We had the chicken enchiladas, empanadas, and a tamale. All our items were outstanding. Sides were good too. They don't serve alcohol but don't let that bother you. On a Saturday around 2 PM my family and I decided to try this restaurant while out site seeing. It wasn't that cool in the restaurant either. The temp was doable by a fan. It seemed they only had one waiter/waitress working so we knew service would be slow too and that was fine. There was a language barrier that lead to wrong drinks being served. When ordering our food we had to point to the actual item on the menu. Again, we were hungry and wanted to remain positive. However, before we could settle in we had not one but two roaches crawl up and down our booth. We reported this quickly; paid $9 for our drinks that we may have only taken two sips from. Read about this new restaurant in the Gettysburg Times and decided to give it a try for take out. I ordered the Grilled Carne Asada. Unfortunately I can only give it a C. The three slices of beef were very thin (1/16 of an inch), cooked well done, substantially tough, and not very flavorful. The refried beans and the rice were quite good. The chopped up lettuce and veggies that accompanied the dinner platter were good. My wife ordered the fajita mix (chicken and steak) and she rated it as a "B". Certainly the Mexican food here is not as good as we have found in other Gettysburg got Mexican restaurants. The restaurant also specializes in Salvadorian dishes...To be fair maybe I should try some of the Salvadorian menu items next time to see whether they might be somewhat better. On the plus side the owner? Family member? who was at the register and collected my payment was very personable, friendly, and pleasant to talk to. The food was 5 stars good, the service, while pleasant, was just absent a lot it seemed. I had 4 tacos: al Pastor, chorizo, steak and carnitas.
