To avoid having the rest of the group wait for us, we told them to go ahead and we'd wait for our ride. We were told by the wine tasting folks that we were welcome to sit in the restaurant and order a glass of wine while we waited (which we were happy to do and pay for). After the group left, we walked into the restaurant, and before we were even able to sit, a waiter came over and said they were not serving food anymore. We clarified it was just to grab a drink (which were informed by their colleague at the wine store was 100% ok, and from whom we just purchased a $90 bottle of wine from) , but he said sorry they are closed (it was 4pm and website says open until 5, and everyone else that we spoke to that WORKS THERE told us to go to restaurant and could wait there), meanwhile there were a bunch of tables that were eating mid-meal. That is despicable service and lack of business awareness. Instead we left and had to wait outside in 38 degC. Ridiculous. Worst service ever. Also we are are brown. All the people inside (and the server) were white. Make of that what you will. We did.

Our host, Darby, was fantastic friendly, knowledgeable, and made the tasting both relaxed and enjoyable. You could tell they were passionate about the wines and took the time to explain each one without making it feel rushed. We tasted the Unwooded Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Siegerrebe, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Blanc. Honestly, there wasn't a single wine we didn't enjoy. Our standout favourite was the Unwooded Chardonnay bright, crisp, and beautifully balanced. We enjoyed the tasting so much that we ended up joining the wine club before we left! Between the excellent wines, beautiful setting, and outstanding hospitality, Gray Monk has definitely earned a spot on our list of favourite wineries. Highly recommend stopping by if you're visiting Lake Country you won't be disappointed!

When you enter their tasting room, you will see the breathtaking lake view on the left, and amaze by the beautiful tasing bar on the right. Wine tasting booking with their very knowledgable staff is recommended. I fell in love with their Wildblume sparkling wine (wildflower in German) named after the Arrowleaf Balsamroot flowers that grow on the hills of the Okanagan Valley each spring. I also like their Bacchus German wine that is perfectly refreshing. I recommend buying a bottle of wine and a box of charcuterie, and head to their outdoor patio to savour the beautiful nature.
