There was only one other lady that stepped foot in Kalala while we were there. They had some merchandise, homemade jams and a few 2015 vintage bottles on sale. Wine tastings are $3.00 for four samples. They also have ice wines but those were $3.00/sample. Pricey! We decided to share two tastings. The tasting fee is waived when you purchase a bottle. - 2016 Sauvignon blanc - this was my favourite of the whites we tried. It smelled spicy but didn't taste so. More of a full body mouth feel to it. We bought a bottle ($21.54). - 150 Frizzante - 2014 Dostana malbec - Dostana kiran - this was my favourite out of the 8 wines we sampled. Almost like an ice wine but way less sweeter. - 2016 Kalala pinot gris - 2016 Dostana riesling - 2015 Kalala pinot noir - 2008 Kalala pinot noir - more smooth and quaffable than the 2015 pinot noir. Decent wines at KOV. 3.5 stars.

Definitely has a bit of sweet but not so sweet that it was unbearable. This winery is small but it has a lot of charm and history associated with it. I recommend a tasting to have a taste of their wines and learn the history of their owners. We also grabbed pizza and gelato here. Pizza was good, though there isn't a huge difference in spice between the mild and spicy sausage one. Gelato was good. Get a waffle cone and pistachio. It was DELICIOUS

Each tasting had 5 pours. My favorite out of the bunch was the Gewurztraminer and the cabernet franc. The cabernet franc reminded me of a chignon from France. It was that good. Outdoor patio looks like a vibe on a nice summer day to wind down. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done here was around $20 CAD since a tasting is $10 CAD. Wines were pretty good and would definitely come back and try more.

Wine tastings are complimentary but they limit you to four pours per person. Bottles are in the $15.90 to 43.39 range. We were a large group so we split our group in half. We were four so should have had 16 total tastings to try. Instead, the pourer only let us try 13 out of 14 on the list. Super lame that we didn't get to try the 2014 Eruption. Interestingly, the other half of our group got to try 6 samples each. So I have no idea what was the issue with that guy. Whites - 2016 Bubbly gewurztraminer - 2017 Rose - 2016 Magma white - 2016 Viognier - 2013 Reserve chardonnay - 2016 Lava white blend - this was the only white I liked. A blend of 6 different whites. Reds - 2015 Pinot noir - 2013 Merlot - 2014 Syrah - 2015 Magma red - the only red that was decent. Another blend of 5 reds. Icewines - 2016 Gewurztraminer late harvest - this was incredibly sweet. - 2015 Pinot noir icewine - not sure how but it was even more sweet than the gewurztraminer. - 2014 Riesling icewine - only icewine that was balanced. As well as a super cute dog (labradoodle - we later learned is a diva- but still so cute!) We were seated and well taken care of by our server who not only gave us some great suggestions but passionately told us the beautiful story of how the vineyard came to be! (I'll save that surprise and interesting story for you to discover!) We loved the open air patio so much we visited the great gift shop and peaked at the dinner menu that had us booking a reso before we left! We returned that evening for an amazing dinner! We started and shared the charcuterie- lots of great choices even for the one none cheese lover in the group! I had the ceasar salad with some of the best prawns I've ever tasted- they were juicy and garlic flavored- my favorite. My partner had the Ragu and he's still talking about it weeks later! The steak our friend had was perfectly cooked and came with a lot of tasty smashed potatoes and veg- enough he was able to share (yay me!) We were too full for dessert so had more wine instead! Now Lakeland country is awesome for white wines but of all the reds I had in this region, the Pinot here was my favorite! We definitely reccomend the vineyard and Chaos, the restaurant! Can't wait for our next Vernon/ Kelowna adventure!

Playful, imaginative and excellent wine!…read more Perhaps my favorite of all the wineries in Kelowna, that Hatch is doing something different. Meandering off the main road and down their unpaved driveway, you are greeted by vines overlooking the lake and a sprawling outdoor patio with fantastical art on display. The interior tasting room is casual, a vaulted wooden structure with a library of wine bottles on display. We were instantly greeted and given a cozy corner (6 ft+ from other patrons, appreciate their safety precautions!) to enjoy our tasting. Visiting from California, it was fun to try wines typical to the Okanagan. I especially enjoyed how light and nuanced the Merlots are, since CA Merlots tend to leave me feeling punched in the face. We ended up purchasing a 2017 bottle of The Greatest Love of Mal to bring home. It was divine, with a taste that danced between chocolate covered cherries and a subtle licorice finish... I can easily (and did), keep sipping until the bottle disappears!

They were kind enough to open up their new sparkling bottle. - 2022 Flirty 3 - equal blends of gewurtz, pinot gris and riesling. Bought a bottle ($20.99). - 2021 La gauche - smoky but smooth. This was our favourite of the three reds we tried. - 2021 Cabernet franc - 2020 La droite - 2018 Late harvest viognier - not too sweet, good mouth feel. - Blanc de blanc - first time they've made a sparkling pinot blanc. Excellent bubbly. We bought a bottle ($37.99). Too bad they didn't have their blanc de merlot bottled yet.

Our pourer (Chantal) was very friendly and informative. - 2022 Akina rosé - marechal foch grapes. Rosé was supposed to be dry, didn't taste so. - 2021 Riesling - smooth, velvety texture on the mouth. Not too sweet. Bought a bottle ($28.61) for home. - 2022 The flirty 3 - blend of three whites. Sweetest of the whites we tried. - 2018 Merlot - light on tannins, a touch smoky. - 2020 Cabernet franc - bolder flavour, but more tannins. Still one of my favourite organic wineries.

We went for the "Taste Of Okanagan Experience" which samples from five local sister wineries; a mix of white, red and sparkling from Sandhill, as well as Black Hills Estate, Gray Monk Estate, Red Rooster and Tinhorn Creek. For $25 you get the tiniest of pours from each, which then gives you $10 towards any bottles purchased. Although we've purchased from some of these wineries previously, none that we sampled in the showroom impressed us enough to make us want to buy. Particularly for the prices charged. $50 and up for what is at best a $20 tasting wine. There is a limited food menu if you want to order an actual glass of wine and some snacks, but it is mostly seafood, and again nothing appealed to either of us.

Last-Minute Wine Tasting? No Problem!…read more Stopped by around 4:45 PM, knowing they close at 5, but I still wanted to check the place out. Despite the late arrival, the reception was incredibly welcoming--they even asked if I'd like to do a wine tasting! I mentioned that they were closing soon, but they encouraged me to stay and enjoy since there were still other guests tasting. Even though it was a last-minute visit, I never felt rushed. Instead of quickly pouring whatever was available, they asked what type of tasting I preferred--white, red, or the happy hour selection. A nice touch! Five minutes before closing, they were still welcoming new guests, which made me feel much less guilty about showing up late. The Wine Experience Chardonnay - I'm picky about Chardonnay, but this one was surprisingly buttery and smooth. A great choice for both beginners and experienced wine lovers exploring new Chardonnay profiles. Rosé - A perfect Happy Hour pick! Light, fruity, and refreshing--exactly what I needed to unwind after a long day. Cabernet Merlot - A touch spicy and slightly chewy. If you love Cabernet with good tannins but not too overpowering, this is a great option. Location & Atmosphere Unfortunately, I was too late to try the food, but the location is super convenient--right in downtown with its own parking lot (which is a huge plus for wine tasting in the city!). No stress about parking! If you're with a group, this spot is even better because after wine tasting, you can easily switch things up--there are breweries nearby, so everyone can split off based on their drink preference. I'll definitely be back to try the food and fully experience the chill, hangout vibes. Can't wait for round two!
