Along with their move, came some much needed upgrades. 6+ volleyball courts, separating nets, gym, turf training area, concessions, restrooms, matted flooring, seating, etc. Everything is just so much nicer than their old location. I'd say the only downside is no AC other than fans for when it's hot. If it's cold, wear a long sleeve and you'll be fine. Open gym is every Tues, Thurs, and Sun I believe. It used to be $5/person, but now it's $10/person. But I honestly don't mind the small price increase if it means this place stays in business for years to come. Covid has affected many small businesses so please to everyone in the Houston volleyball community, support Spike Sport. You can also rent a private court depending on availability for $55/hr. The maximum open play players is 36 players and you do not need to a membership to play. I called in ahead of time to get my name on the list but it was not required as there were only 18 people on the list at the time I called (1 hour before the open play began). They accept cash or credit card. The courts are well paved and the outside balls have a nice bounce to them. The courts are well spaced apart so there aren't too many instances of other people's balls rolling into the court. The lights were great as they do not blind you when playing due to the fact that the lights are facing upward instead of downward. There were 6 courts (rolling nets) and there were around 25-30 people in attendance so there was not too long ago a wait between games. I was able to play 5 games in the 1.5 hour open play session. There is pretty good intermediate group of players (with a few advanced competition - the pro working there is a 5.3 DUPR) here so that is a plus for more experienced pickleball players. The only complaint is that the pickleball kitchen line is a bit hard to differentiate from the tennis service line. My only wish was that the open play hours was an hour longer but getting to play 5 games in 1.5 hours isn't bad. I would rate this place 4.5/5 due to the pickleball kitchen line issue but I will round up to 5 stars. Will definitely come back!

The ice quality looks far superior to the Sugarland Ice Complex but this one is only a single rink vs other rinks having several sheets of ice. I also believe that Bellerive does NOT offer public skating, which kind of stinks. As for a spectator, this rink feels cold... which is to be expected in an ice rink but it feels colder than others I've been to. The area around this rink seems sketchy AF. I actually tell the kids to not bring their iPads when we come here just to be safe. All in all, our kids did a hockey learn to play here and we were happy with the experience.

Winning is the #1 priority at all costs (seriously, ALL costs) - little league is not about having fun and learning and working as a team, only winning 2. A "team" actually means just the 5 best kids doing everything all the time while the others sit on the bench or in right field feeling useless 3. It's ok for coaches to blatantly cheat to win games, for the kids to witness this, and then for the coaches to tell them their team plays with "integrity" 4. Instead of encouraging kids and helping them learn and grow confidence, it's ok to consistently tell them not to swing when they bat so they can get a walk instead of risking trying to get a hit 5. It's ok to blame losses on the kids who aren't the best kids on the team -- in front of the kids 6. When your team is short a player, it's ok to play kids who are the best from other teams in key positions instead of the kids on your own team that are not the best 7. During practices, it's ok to focus almost all of the attention on the 5 best kids and leave the others standing in the outfield learning nothing 8. It's ok for coaches to chew tobacco in front of the team of 8 year olds that look up to them as a role model and then spit it almost hitting the kids' feet 9. It's ok for coaches to not care at all how the above actions are affecting the children on their teams and to point blank say that 10. We will never put our kids through this again

(Like maybe 10 people at most) with helpful, knowledgeable coaches who taught discipline and respect. The kids were all focused and driven. Now it's a total shit show. The classes get bigger every week, up to 16-18 kids, sometimes with only two coaches. They're all new coaches (besides coach Erlin who really does seem to care, but he's overwhelmed, no fault of his own) who don't do a damn thing to teach respect or discipline, the kids all do what they want and run a muck. Two weeks ago a fight almost broke out between two kids and a parent had to come on the floor and get involved, and the coaches did absolutely squat about it. There's no consequences for coming in late and disturbing the whole class, totally disrespecting everyone who is there on time. Here's the kicker. When I called to cancel, BEFORE the new month started, I was told since it was after the FIFTH of the month we were in, we were going to get billed for the following month. I want to cancel these crap classes and you make us pay for another month?! ($188 for two kids once a week) If you want your kids to just have a playground recess experience, this place is fine. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Prices aren't great but that's not the main problem. Some of the staff really doesn't care about their job at all and they let you know about it. Some of the boots are so old and worn out that it's actually dangerous to wear them. These factors, especially the boots, totally ruined the experience. They really need to replace the shoes and I won't be raising the rating until they do.
