Finding a good tax preparer is like finding a good hair stylist, car mechanic or nail tech...you want to stay with them because they earn your trust, know their craft and do a good job. This is how I feel about Lori at the Folsom office. She helped me and hubby understand why we seemed to have to pay the dreaded IRS for several years. She reviewed three years of tax returns to make sure they were correct, and gave a good "101" about social security. I could go on and on about how good and smart Lori is but I'll leave it at she's great and someone you can trust. As long as she's doing tax preparation, I'll be going to her. I had been there in previous years when the last manager was there. I forgot his name. He liked to pass the blame on others and never easy to get a hold of. The new manager has been easy to get a hold of, helps with issues and her team talks highly of her. What a difference it makes the office. I called to make an appointment explained my tax situation and Erica paired me with a tax pro that can help me this year. She gave me her contact information if I needed any help along the way. Employees at this location are rude and unprofessional since the pandemic started 2 1/2 years ago. I had good experiences prior to pandemic, but they are now doing things VERY differently! I am no longer able to make an appointment and get taxes done at the time and/or quickly. I have to drop off paperwork and wait for them to contact me, and wait and wait and wait........ The staff gets very defensive and huffy if asked when taxes might done: apparently we're now supposed to wait indefinitely and NOT ask any questions! The manager told me they're still backlogged due to the pandemic and takes much longer to get taxes done than it used to: I keep getting the runaround and they blame their incompetence on the pandemic. When I called a week ago to check on status having dropped off paperwork a week prior, I was told Sue was almost done and would call me tomorrow. Sue did not call me back, so I called again after waiting 5 days and was told same thing: Sue finally called only to tell me she needed my 1098. (Okay fine, why does it take 2 weeks and me calling twice to tell me that?) Sue was gruff and irritated when I showed up in person to give her the document, and was even more irritated when I asked when my taxes might be done. She said maybe next week sometime because she now had so many taxes she was working on and didn't know when she'd get to it. The attitude of all staff working at this location is they're too busy and don't want to be bothered with clients at all! The staff's attitude, overall, is rude and unprofessional. After waiting for over 2 weeks and getting the runaround, being treated like I'm a nuisance and they don't want my business and still being told they don't know when my taxes would be done, I said fine I'll take my business elsewhere. For the last 3 years I've been dealing with a tax situation. Every time you call the IRS you get a different answer to the situation even though none of the facts change. The IRS speak this foreign language that only an expert can undertand or you need to bring an IRS translator with you. I could never get the "IRS for DUMMIES" explanation. This would send me in a different direction each time and none of those directions led to resolution. How frustrating!!! Meanwhile I'm sure the IRS is loving it because fees & penalties are accruing and I think it's how they feed their children and pay for their big homes and fancy cars. I wasn't about to pay something just because the IRS said so. If the IRS can't explain why they think I owe something, I'm not about to just pay it. I don't operate under the "because I said so" rule. Let's get ready to RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMBBBBBLLLLLLLLEEEEEEE!!!!! This year I decided to open the ring to the heavyweights (H&R) and try to figure this out from completely different angle. First round knock-out!!!! I told my tax preparer that science and technology were my things and that all I heard when the IRS spoke was that "whaaa whaaa whaa" from Charlie Brown. My eyes would glaze over and sometime later I would awake not sure if I had a seizure or if I passed out. My tax preparer had this thing figured out in a matter of minutes and we came up with strategy on how to handle it. I couldn't believe the answer was really that simple since the IRS never went down this path. I now feel like the IRS reps for the 800 number might be full of Tax School dropouts. LOL. I'm just happy that I'm not paying them as much as was indicated and I finally got this monkey, ooops, I mean IRS, off my back!! read more

So I do appreciate the customer service and the fact that it is fairly simple. We have used H and R for a few years and the cost seems to rise. $395 for a simple family of 4 with no major purchases. This is $100 maybe $150 worth of services in the 30 minutes we were there. Unfortunately this will be our last year using their services because we also ran our taxes on the Credit Karma website and it was the same amount of return for you guessed it, $0! My suggestion to the company is to price your fees relative to the service. We are a simple family and not a complex organization or business. $395?! This will ensure the decline in your brick and mortar locations quickly and I prefer to support local businesses, but not at that price. read more

She was thorough with explaining information and answering all of my questions and concerns. I referred my significant other to her, who also loved her work ethic and demeanor. Lauren, My taxes are always simple. A lot of my colleagues that filed their taxes after me have gotten their refund. I know Bobbe did something with Covered California or Affordable care act and processed it that way and that is why my refund is delayed. I am working full time and have insurance. My wife & I have filed our taxes through Bobbe Watson from Block Advisors (previously H&R Block) for the past 3 years and paid an average of $400 fees every year. As usual, we went there this year and got an estimate of our returns and their fees. I want to stress the fact that at this appointment, I did not receive any documents and neither did I confirm her to go ahead with my tax filing. It was a usual first tax appointment to provide her copies of our W2's and some basic information. Their fees was $450 this year and considering we had straight forward W2's and no other incomes to report, we decided to get an estimate from another tax consultant and ended up filing our taxes through them for less than $100 and almost the same returns. Today, I received a call from Bobbe W. to check if we are ready to file our taxes. Upon learning that we will not be using her services this year, her tone changed immediately and she got very upset and started venting her anger. So much so that she did not even give me a chance to respond and just hung up on me after finishing up her rude remarks. This is HORRIBLE Customer service. I have the right to take my business where ever I like. After being a customer for 3 years, you don't expect to be treated like this. I was not obliged to file my taxes through them. I understand that loosing business is no fun but instead of asking why I made that decision, she decided to be rude and show her temper to me. It was very disrespectful. Just shows how much she cares about her customers. I will never return to Block Advisors. read more

We were not happy with the customer service received. The person we dealt with was terrible. She would not return our calls, or meet deadlines we agreed upon. The agents or whatever they call themselves can work at different locations. So sometimes this person wouldn't even be in town. When we tried to find out her schedule etc the receptionist or whoever picks up the phones at this center was awful. Basically giving us the run around. read more
