I had a really bad experience going there on April 22nd (2015)...maybe it was because I went there…read morenear closing time, it was around 5ish, but I will explain. First off, when I signed myself in, I was told in a rude way to sit down because I thought I was going in a room right away, after that I wait for longer than twenty minutes...while others who have come after me go in to the rooms. When it is my turn, the second guy who comes in (I don't remember names) to set my bags up, says a few inappropriate things like, "yeah I bet you've been waiting for like an hour," (which I was), he starts talking comedy and says that "his favorite kind of humor is the sexual jokes..." Like okay? The lady before him, had made it seem like it might be okay to donate with my left arm, even though when I donated plasma doing this it bruised up my whole arm. I've stuck with my right arm for years...I decided to try the left, since I thought blood may possibly be different for me. I explain this to the lady who is going to stick me, she does it painfully; and I notice her shimmying the needle around, it hurts and it's obvious to me it's not going to work. She asks another coworker about it, who laughs about my comment about what happened to this arm when I donated plasma. She jabs one more time toward the vein, and I say out loud it's not going to work...I was pointed toward the exit area, when she removes the needle and bandages my arm in that area. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience.

It is a huge upgrade in space and comfort from the old cramped building. You are treated wonderfully from the moment you walk in the door. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. They are constantly thanking you for donating. While you are bleeding (as I like to say), they check to make sure you are warm (if not, they give you a blanket), comfortable (feel free to watch your own personal TV), and up to date (you only have 25 more minutes left). When you are done, they make sure you have a snack (good cookies) and choice of drinks to get you back on your feet so you can schedule your next appointment! This is why I am a repeat customer!

I've never had to wait when I've had an appointment. Some staff are better than others at placing the needle, though I've never had anyone not be able to do. Some just seem to have a gift for making it almost painless. They always a nice selection of food and drink for after your appointment too.

I will say the staff here is amazing and helpful in the process. However, I do feel at times they…read moremay be understaffed and under resourced for the amount of people they service as the wait times are always long and not expedient. I do think that they also could use some systems that work or are updated to make the process easier and should keep some sort of water and snacks for all participants other than just newcomers because all people should make sure to eat and drink fluids after donation.

I came to CSL in South Milwaukee and when I was finely in the process of donating everything went…read moreok till the 2nd round of blood being returned it started to go very slowly. After about 20min of it still returning I asked one of the worker's to look at the machine to see what was going on. At that point my arm was numb and my fingers were tingling I could also feel the blood like needles going into my arm. The lady told me that it was because I did not drink enough water and I ate fatty foods. I told her that all I drink is water and I only eat foods that are low in fat. Mainly fruits and vegetables. She then said that I would just have to wait for it to finish the slow return. She walked away. So I waited another 10 min at thos point my arm was extremely uncomfortable. I asked to be restuck or I just wanted to be done. She came back and continued to say that I would just have to wait for the machine to take it's course ( in so many words) she was making it seem as though this was my fault due to unhealthy eating habits. I was in pain at this point and became very agitated and got loud with her, she then told me I would be dnr'ed after this visit. She took my plasma and after waiting hour's to start donation and after being treated this way and being later for work I was only given a portion of the money I was supposed to get. When I got home and took of the badge. ( It was soaked in blood) I could not outstretch my arm all the way I looked at it and it was completely swollen it looked like an elbow at the site where they drew the plasma! I have missed 2 day's of work and now my upper arm is bruised a deep purple and blue!! I did get her name before I left.. it is Shannon she also happens to be the manager of the place. They should be ashamed of themselves!! I have half the mind to sue this place at least for my lost wages plus what they shorted me!!
