Heidi and her team of midwives at Bloom literally changed my life. I didn't know what I needed as this baby was my first, and I was on the fence at first. However, I NEEDED the support I got -- from hour-long prenatal visits that truly encompass the whole family's values to the birth itself, these women were a godsend to our family. I unfortunately had a complicated birth, and ended up going to the hospital. Having the midwives there with us made the experience SO MUCH less scary. I was cared for by this extraordinary group of women from 10 weeks gestation - 6 weeks postpartum for my second pregnancy. I can truly say that they are now part of my extended family. This experience was truly unlike any other and we would do again without hesitation If we were to have any more babies in the future! My first birth was in the hospital and while I still managed to have an unmedicated natural birth, the experience was entirely different from start to finish. At Bloom you are cared for by all of the wonderful midwives who make you feel like family. This is one of the only healthcare experiences where I absolutely did not mind seeing a different provider at each visit (there are only 3 midwives) but they are each equally amazing and each bring such valuable experience and perspective. They are always willing to make themselves available and It was so comforting to be able to call or text with any questions or concerns I had. Its truly a unique experience now a days to be able to have a completely relaxed and unrushed prenatal appointment in a peaceful environment, compared to the typical medical office experience where you are often treated impersonally and rushed out with only 10-15 minutes of your providers time (my past Experience at least). On more than one occasion Heidi, Kristi, and Adri would spend over an hour talking with me to address anything I wanted to talk about. They are incredible humans and it honestly felt more like hanging out with your best girlfriends where you can feel safe to open up about anything! No matter how many times you birth there is always some level of anxiety and nerves leading up and I can truly say that the moment we set foot inside Bloom while I was in active labor I felt all the fear instantly Melt away and I was ready (and Excited!) to meet my baby. The familiarity of the space (after attending every appointment there in the same building) and the rapport you build with these women makes all the difference when you are about to give birth- the most raw and open you will ever be both physically and emotionally. I always knew I didnt want to give birth in the hospital. What that meant I wasn't sure until I found Bloom. For me the concept of a hospital is to treat ailments, and act fast during emergencies. It was very hard for me to associate a hospital and birth. Birth is about new beginnings, regrowth, and is much more spiritual. I have birthed both of my daughters with Bloom and from the moment of my first consultation I knew it was a perfect fit for me. BEST MIDWIVES EVER!!! I just had my 6th baby and I've worked with some wonderful women in the past but Kristie and Heidi have my heart forever! They attended My last two births and were so wonderful both in An easy birth and a hard potentially complicated birth I had. First off they know their stuff- very wise, having the best advice I've ever gotten on all my pregnancies. They keep learning, always seem to have fresh knowledge that midwives I've worked with in the past didn't have ( at least at the time). But also they are kind, loving- like I really feel LOVED by them- they carry this deep honor of birth and life with them and also honor intuition- both their own and mine as a mother which has come in handy more than once. They were the first ever to truly honor my wishes with my sons birth, allowing me to take the lead and listen to my own body without coaching or overriding what I wanted. Because of that I had the most peaceful, perfect, unusual birth ever that healed my previous hard birth experiences and renewed my wonder and self confidence as a woman and mother. If they had interrupted or denied some of my requests I may not have felt that way. They completely respect and work with hypnobirthing which not everyone does. In my birth 3 days ago which turned very hard and unexpected, they were calm, supportive, and again honoring of my wishes- really good at communicating, and showed their expertise in how they dealt with my difficult situation- pulling out all the tricks of you will and getting my Very stuck baby UNstuck !! Though it all they maintained calm soft voices, a feeling of peace, compassion and love. I never felt afraid even though I was struggling to birth. Finally baby was out and needed extra care which again they expertly handled and stopped at nothing to make sure we were well cared for, Heidi even staying an extra night with us to monitor baby every half hour while I slept, not leaving until she was Certain that baby was perfectly safe and at ease. I couldn't ask for more wonderful women to birth with and recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to be truly cared for and in the best hands for their birthing time. I see below there is a review that talks about being treated badly when declining any treatment interventions or test and as to that end I wonder if we are at the same birthing center? Maybe she is confused and talking about someone else? I declined every option, test and treatment in the book and never once did they have a negative word for me, or lecture, or anything near fear tactics, as many O.B.s have with me in the past. They honored my every wish and treated me with respect when I said no to anything without another word or even hint at it being a problem. I am so so so happy with the care I received here. The midwives are all gems and such assets to this community. They all have amazing knowledge, provide excellent support and services as well as compassion and care beyond what I expected. I delivered my second child with them, and went through a genetic testing scare during my pregnancy. One of the midwives personally called me at 830pm and talked to me for an hour about my feelings and the process from there. I couldn't believe the grounded and care-FULL support she offered. My first born's birth was hard and not with bloom- I had a home birth midwife and had to transfer to the hospital. Because of that experience, I felt dedicated to having my second birth out of hospital but was not attached as long as everything was safe. This birthing center seemed like the right fit bc of the proximity to the hospital and the amount of experience the midwives have combined. I can say this second birth was hard too, and we almost transferred last minute but the baby came thanks to the midwives dedication to me and the baby. The midwives were calm, responsive, quick to act and explained everything to me and my husband in the process without disrupting the focus of my birthing body. How one can do that- I don't know ! But they are masters of the birthing art ! Postpartum services have been excellent as well. Long winded review to basically say it was an amazing experience and I am so happy I chose Bloom. SO WORTH IT!!! Even my husband, who was skeptical at first, had an awesome experience and said he would 100% do it again and pay the money even without insurance. I don't think stars even begin to show how amazing bloom is! My experience with the midwives and their facility was so far beyond wonderful. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I don't know where to begin raving about every little detail. From the first time you walk into bloom you feel a sense of security, love and peace. The facility is just the right amount of homey feeling but also tucked away they have all the tools they need to assist you. I felt like I was in a really nice suite/Inn. All of the midwives are so kind and treat you like a great friend. Which they truly do become your friends by the end of it. The prenatal care was amazing and I got to meet each of the midwives so I was familiar with them all. The hour long visits are wonderful because you really get to converse with them and talk about what you want and need. Kristi, Heidi, Molly and Adrianna all are such skilled midwives each bringing their own experience, knowledge and perspective which provides such well rounded care. Informed consent is top priority to them and they really make you feel you are in control of your care, as well as giving great guidance and information to help you make the best decisions for you and your family. My birth was absolutely amazing! I can't even describe it in words how truly fulfilling and empowering my experience was. I was able to labor how I wanted with the absolute best guidance and support by my side. 15 hours of long labor and Molly and Heidi never let me get discouraged. I had no sleep the night before and threw up anything I tried to eat. They helped keep me nourished through it all and gave me amazing advice to get my baby here safely. My bag of water didn't want to break but instead of them coming in and saying they needed to break my water to get things going (which I feel like would've happened at a hospital most likely) they offered me information about my situation.  We all communicated together and decided that we wanted to get it to break on its own. My body could do it! The entire time I trusted my body and my team! If you want a natural/unmediated birth experience this is the place for you. The after birth experience was bliss. After she was born she came right into my arms and she was mine!! Molly and Heidi did everything they needed with her right on my chest. Heidi wrapped her up and made sure her breathing was good and Molly helped me deliver the after birth. My husband got to cut the cord and we got to climb into bed together and snuggle our new little one. We were able to rest and soak things in for a good amount of time while the midwives cleaned up around us. More than a golden hour. Once we all had a little rest Molly checked everything on the baby and helped me get to the bathroom and shower off. Our baby was born at 9:55pm and by the time everything was all checked out it was late so they let us sleep there in the amazing bed and we got to finish everything in the morning. The postnatal visits were so helpful and personal as well! The home visits are so great for when you're healing and still getting used to new baby life. Postpartum support as well as breastfeeding advice and resources were all provided. Checking up on the baby and her growth also was so nice I didn't have to get in with the pediatrician until after 6 weeks. One less thing to deal with when you're sleep deprived and trying to find a good routine. I truly didn't want my time and care with Bloom team to be over. I am so looking forward to having future babies with them. I wouldn't do it any other way unless it was medically necessary. The whole experience was everything I hoped for and so much more! The passion and love these ladies have for their job, women and babies is so incredible. They have ignited a fire inside of me that will hopefully lead me to the birth world as well. I had my birth with Bloom and was so lucky to have Heidi and Kristi looking after me and my partner. I didn't want any unnecessary medical intervention or drugs, hence a hospital birth was no option for me. My wish was to have support and guidance but a hands off approach so that birthing our baby could unfold in its most natural way. Within 24 h after my water broke, our beautiful boy was born in the water and the arms of his daddy. When we figured out I was pregnant with my first baby we knew wanted to go to bloom for a natural birth. From the moment I contacted them over the phone all we ever received was the most welcoming, considerate, and loving care. They took care of me and my family so well. My boyfriend in the beginning didn't really know to much about water births and was skeptical, but if weren't for the midwives he wouldn't have liked the Water-birth so much. Had a horrible experience with bloom highly NOT recommend, There nothing natural about giving birth except its fancy, if you decline any test the midwife will tell you dead baby stories to get you on board with the test, they want the birth to be there way not your way but they will keep saying "it's your birth you get to decide what you want", they can Kick you out of there care anytime if they think you are not a good fit or if you decline to have one of the midive to be at your birth that you don't like, and there will be no REFUNDS, make sure you read the contract carefully, I will not recommend this birth center to anyone, they don't care about your opinion how you want your birth to be, it will be hidden which midwife will attend your birth so be prepared for the surprise there might be someone at your birth that you never met. The midwives here are so professional and caring. They are also extremely intelligent and educated in their field. They all gave me their full attention day and night whenever I needed it and sometimes when I didn't even know I did and I consider them family now and forever more. Heidi Marshall, Kristi Cunningham, and Jami Johnson are the best midwives I could have ever asked for and if they are reading this I want them to know I will always love them more then words can say and would definitely have any future children in their beautiful building. When I heard about the opening of Bloom, my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our second child. We did a home birth with our first. It was amazing, but after I gave birth I had to take the ambulance to the hospital due to a hemorrhage. Luckily we were only ten minutes away. When we became pregnant with our second we were now an hour away from the hospital. I really wanted to have a home birth, but felt we were too far away in case there were any complications. Thank goodness for Kristi and Heidi. Bloom is the perfect marriage of having the home birth experience, but in a well equipped facility, also close to the hospital. She might just have one of the most comforting and personable personalities I have ever met. At every pre natal she always made me feel so beautiful and cared about. The same goes for Heidi, they are both so dedicated and knowledgable. When something came up during pregnancy or after that I needed help with or a question answered, they were always just a quick text or call away. Kristi and Heidi have this way of connecting to the babies in the womb that is so beautiful. My birthing team consisted of Kristi, Heidi and intern at the time Jamie(loved my third midwife/doula). Kristi provided my prenatal care and delivered my son at my home in 2013. I could not have asked for a better experience from the very beginning to the very end. I had the best birth experience all thanks to Heidi, Kristi, Alex & Gloria. They gave me so much support throughout my pregnancy, and when I needed it most at 42 weeks! Words just don't suffice. I have never felt so safe, nurtured, heard, trusted and well advocated for in my life. Each member of this team brings so much to the table. Not only were my pre and post natal care a pleasure but the birth itself was a gift. Even with a long pre labor, a giant, giant baby and post natal complications - I have the best associations with it. Heidi and Kristi are the most competent, calm, brilliant ninja midwives ever. They navigated complications with calm grace - resolving them one after the next (which was not for the faint of heart!!). Holding such a calm, safe space that I never once slipped into a place of fear. I whole heartedly recommend this birth center. They went so far above and beyond - I've walked away with a new understanding of what healthcare can be. Oh, and did I mention that the space is so beautiful and comfortable you feel like you're at a spa? Also - I highly recommend combining prenatal massages with your visits. Asia is simply brilliant.
