West Castle Motel - Better than expected....

Fridges, microwaves, coffee maker, kettle. Everything you need. The bedding is nice and clean. The shower is lovely. Adjustable heat, a desk a dining table and bbq for everyone's use, what more do you need. Also it's solid brick and you'd need a bomb to wake up your neighbour. Nice plushy towels and no shortage of face clothes, which is something people complain about often. No complaints here A true budget motel that lives up to its category.

There is nothing wrong with the motel. I found it clean enough, but keep in mind it is a very old building. The nice cinder block decor won't win any awards though. There were no bed bugs on my bed as I thoroughly combed through it in an almost obsessive fashion. We stayed in room 8 and it was sufficient. The shower head was new and had a number of functions on the head. Nice touch. The bathtub and the toilet were very clean. The service was really good. The family had their daughter monitor the front desk and call her dad when a customer comes. I found the family who own the place friendly and pleasant. I did like the fact that you can book a room on their website. This was very convenient. It seemed like this was one of the cheapest motels in town and is on the road to Waterton. Very convenient. I paid a very reasonable $69+tax for a room with two queen beds. The service was fine and everything was good. I would stay again, if only for their rate. I enjoyed my experience here.

We stopped into the new-looking Ramada and were greeted by a sweet person at the counter. She let us use her facilities, and also let us walk around the lobby to stretch our legs. One of us was a tea drinker, and she even obliged us and offered a free cup of tea (she also gave us a bag of popcorn). Were also surprised she knew where we from (she had family in Yakima!). So, if you're ever in the beautiful country of the southern Rockies of Alberta, and need a place to crash: come here!

Lucky that I merely took a single star away for that. And very lucky I didn't smell anything in my room since I would have gone into 3 year old mode and had a tantrum. It smelled awesome in my room. What or who could this smell come from? Oh, I forgot. I was there! The room I had was very nice. King bed, large desk, Shaw Cable (no trying to sell me PPV as soon as I turn on the TV, and an on screen TV guide). The front desk folks are always very friendly. The pillows are tucked into themselves. It's odd, but if you pull out the end from the case it's in, it's like being a magician. VOILA! A real pillow with a normal size. And very comfortable to boot. Overall, if it wasn't surrounded by farmlands that stink up the place twice a year, I'd be ecstatic. You don't need to be a 5 star to feel like it.

It's worth paying more for a reputable hotel that will ensure the safety of your belongings…read more I stayed at this hotel for 4 days. During this time I had a very expensive night guard. Every morning, I'm required to clean it, and place it somewhere that the water can drain. To allow this, I place it on the side of a cup. I have stayed in hotels for weeks at a time for both work and pleasure where this is my common practice and no issue. However, while staying here, I placed the retainer in it's usual location, and returned in the evening to find that the retainer was gone. In discussion with the hotel, they offerred to dig in garbages to find the retainer but I refused. Noting that this is a device that goes in my mouth and would have any numbed of biohazardous materials on it from the hotel garbage or landfill. The hotel requested a bill for the replacement and the manager sent me an email scathing me for placing the retainer on the cup despite this being a regular procedure where I could trust any other hotel not to dispose of it. The hotel claimed that they asked their staff who or of they disposed of my property, but as would be expected, the staff declined any knowledge of this. The retainer cost over 750$ and fortunately for me it was covered by my insurance. However, as a result of this, I am lacking space in my benefits to cover future dental care this year. The manager, David Mcquaig, was not only unprofessional in his refusal to compensate for the disposal of my property, but he was disrespectful in his correspondence. He did offer a night free in the hotel, but I would suggest that it is worth paying for a hotel where your belongings are safe rather than risk whatever you bring in being thrown out or stolen by staff. There are many lodging options in pincher creek including a Ramada right next door.
