After interviewing a few Doula's my wife and I hired Jenniffer as our Doula to assist with the birth of our first child. Jennifer is very knowledgeable about the delivery processs and easy to talk to. She listens and answered all of our questions very patiently. I'm currently 3.5wks PP and I've been taking my placenta pills since Jennifer dropped them off on my first day back home. Where do I start? I was pregnant with my first child and im a mix of old school and modern day so I knew I wanted to give birth in a hospital for my own sanity ( in case something goes wrong) but I wanted the friendliness and the support of a midwife. so I looked into hiring a doula. like most people I literally just googled "doula in Torrance" and when the one with the most reviews was not available she put out my number and A BUNCH of doulas contacted me. I only contacted and set up appointments with the ones that left "professional" voicemails. I had about 5 doulas lined up back to back for the next few days. jenniffer was the first I met. when I met her I knew she was the one. she made me feel so comfortable and was so presentable and knowledgable in everything. I had so many questions but she never rushed me or thought my questions were "lame" she answered them all and when I still didn't understand she would explain it from a different perspective so I would understand (which is important as a first time mom) she definitely knew so much. I really liked that she told me I can text or call her anytime. it gave me peace of mind bc I couldn't call or text my OB anytime so I felt like no matter when or where I had support or if I felt a weird jab she would assure me its normal in a pregnancy. I didn't need to meet anyone else I KNEW she was perfect for my family. throughout my pregnancy she was so supportive and would check up on me to make sure I was okay and doing well. she genuinely cared about my well being. she even attended a Lamaze class with me. I felt very confidant knowing she was by my side. when I was induced she was with me for all 80 hours in the hospital. she supported me, massaged me, help me count through breaths, etc. when the doctors wanted to do something I would always glance at her and say what do u think. she was my voice when I didn't know better. she made me feel comfortable and confidant during labor. I honestly wouldn't have been so comfortable without her. she gave me peace. anything I needed she did for me. She even offered me things like water and blankets and fixed my pillows. all these little things that might be overlooked by some I remember them in my heart. its the little things that made me so appreciative of her. I didn't have anyone in my delivery room except her and my husband. during such a serious time she and I would laugh together and it took my mind off things that I didn't need to worry about. after my baby was here she offered a lot of resources such as inviting me to park playdates, nursing playdates, etc. she gave me info about breastfeeding and how to produce more milk and when I had PPd she was my listening ear and helped me through that as well. she didn't just leave after my birth. she helped me and guided me and gave me confidence to be the best mommy I can be. I truly look up to her. though this time I can say that I got to see her true colors and she is one amazing woman. she is so thoughtful, kind, happy, and has such a pure heart. I love her so much! I wish I can just keep her lol! No words can express how awesome Jennifer was before, during and after our first child's birth. We were able to book her on a pinch (new parents thought we were prepared until I started to contract :/ ) We had also decided a week before our babies birth to do hypnobirthing after a cram session with Alisha Tamburri. Jen was more than happy to assist us and make our first birthing experience as close to our birthing plan as possible. She met us at the hospital with a birthing ball and all she was there for the active labor part and although it was a short labor she was of great help. I can't express enough how grateful I am to have an amazing doula like Jenniffer. She helped me every step of the way through my pregnancy, labor and delivery and post partum. I found out I was pregnant in March right when covid started. So on top of this being my first pregnancy you add the stress of not being able to have my husband or doula at appointments. I must say that Jenniffer really put me at ease every step of the way. After each appointment I would call her and she would answer all my questions and put me at ease when I became anxious about certain things. Also, due to covid my husband and I couldn't take an in person birth or parenting class. Jenniffer set up an online class to go through what to expect pre and post birth. It was very educational and helped me understand all my options when it came to the labor and delivery aspect. The birthing plan questionnaire was also very helpful to fill out prior to labor. I was able to labor at home for a good amount of time prior to going to the hospital. She helped me go through techniques to get through contractions in the comfort of my own home. I also felt the birthing plan really helped the nurse and doctors understand how I wanted my birth to go. Even though Jenniffer could not be at the hospital physically, I felt she was with me every step of the way via call and text. She responded quickly to any questions I had. Lastly, Jenniffer was able to come to my home after the birth and help me the first few days with anything I needed. Another service I received from Jenniffer was placenta encapsulation. I had a rough few days with post partum headaches. The capsules helped tremendously with the headaches and helping balance my hormones. I could tell a difference from day one of taking them. Jenniffer was an amazing support during my unusually long labor and we are really glad we hired her. I was in labor for 4 days and we went to the hospital multiple times during this period. At our request, Jenniffer met us at the hospital several times, and later, as I had progressed further and labor became more difficult to handle, she came to our home, as well. She was an amazing help in taking shifts with my husband, so that he could take naps, because I had back labor and needed someone to provide counterpressure for every contraction. Jenniffer also had several useful tools and tricks to help, that we hadn't learned in our 12-week long Bradley course that my husband and I took in preparation for labor. For example, massaging my back in a criss-cross pattern between contractions, and suggesting that I tie tennis balls in place behind my sacrum for the car ride to the hospital -- I would never have thought of that but it made the ride 10x more bearable! And perhaps the best thing Jenniffer did was help talk me into going home again after our 4th trip to the hospital, because I really wanted a natural birth and probably would have given in to an intervention to speed things up, had I stayed there that last time. All in all, my husband had thought we were well prepared after taking a labor preparation course, but we weren't prepared for something this long after all, and I would hire Jenniffer again in a heartbeat, for the physical and emotional support! read more
