After moving to Staten Island and not having the best luck with groomers, we were lucky enough to find Bloomingtails. Need to start the review first by mentioning Angel. He's a doodle whisperer and has never once given my dog a bad haircut in 3 years. He takes his time, especially knowing my dog has anxiety at the groomers and goes out of his way to accommodate the perfect environment. Cant' say enough about his professionalism. It's been a few years now but my experience w/Bloomingtails is still so upsetting! Have been using them for a long time in fact have been with the owner Josephine when it was just her at a different location. She had been recommened by a family member. Had been using the groomer Angel for awhile & thought everything was ok until one day I picked up my dog & he brought him out to me with blood all over his eye! They never called me to let me know what had happened & he didn't even say anything when he gave him to me! Really there was no explanation given & they were very nonchalant about it! Shocking! I paid & went straight to the vet where they said that he had been cut & was treated . I called them they didn't even have the decency to call me to check on my dog! When I got home & spoke to Josephine the owner I couldn't believe that she was defending the groomer! My husband heard the whole conversation on speaker & he was shocked at her behavior! Hung up because I wasn't getting anywhere w/her & she agreed to give me my money back but not the vet bill. This was not the first time I had to take my dog to the vet after leaving there. One time I heard the way she talked to my dog when I was in the front waiting for him & he was still in the back. She was very mean. I asked for my dog immediately & left quickly. I should have left this place a long time ago. Please be careful when using them they really don't care! read more

Really happy I found this spot on the island. I recently adopted a dog from Korea, who is extremely shy towards meeting new people. I was very anxious bringing him to get a bath and his nails trimmed. Once I arrived, I met Alice who was wonderful with my dog, Churro, a long-haired miniature dachshund. She assured me she would take great care of Churro and has worked with plenty of rescue/adopted dogs. Once he was done, they gave him a cute bandana and he smelled so good! I love the scent they use. I came back again to give my dog a full groom session and I loved the cut all around - no scratches, bruises, etc. I am so relieved I have found my go-to spot for my dog's grooming! read more

There are not enough words of praise for these people. From the girl at the front desk to one of the ladies we spoke to two days prior to arriving and Suzanne who actually groomed our new rescue dog. Our little rescue is nippy and his fur was a HOT MESS. It was long and matted, and his nails were extremely long. Suzanne treated him with such care and left him looking like a completely new pup. We were so appreciative!!! Definitely recommend this place. read more

I've taken my dog here 3 times so far and have been satisfied each time. We had Angel the first 2 times and Suzanne on our most recent visit. We had asked her to give our dog a lion-like tail and boy, did she! He came out looking so adorable and was a happy pup indeed. The receptionist is also very friendly and sweet. So happy that I decided to take my dog here. My dog only has 3 legs and has to be handled very carefully. I was able to observe while my baby was getting groomed by Josephine. My mind was put to ease as I watched Josephine groom my dog. She handled her with such loving care and did an amazing job. My baby and I were extremely pleased. The staff is incompetent at best. Simple instruction: please don't attempt to cut my dog's nails. Our vet anesthetizes him because he does not tolerate the procedure. He is a 10 year old, 60 lb terrier mix. He has gone to Bloomingtails for 2 years. At our last visit my poor dog was there 2 hours and when I finally got him back, his "groomer" explained how he was only able to clip his front paws before "he went nuts" though it clearly states on my dog's records that he is not to have his nails clipped. The dog was traumatized. Do they even refer to the dog's record? History? In addition, 3 days post "groom" we are dealing with a wicked ear infection. Needless to say, we won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend their services. read more

I stopped in for a nail trim which did not need an appointment. Not only did they trim her nails, but they clipped the hair around her eyes free of charge. She was between groomings and they had no appointment available for a while. That was a nice thing they did without asking for it. Thank you. read more

I have went to this dog salon multiple times and never had a problem. The last time I took my dog, the groomer cut my dogs scalp. And when we went to pick him up the groomer didn't tell me what happened a few days passed and I took off the hair tie and the hair was glued together. I went back to the salon to figure out happened and they didn't tell me the truth and sent me to my dogs vet. The vet told be about how the groomer cut my dogs scalp and put glue on. I just got home with my dog she's a Pomeranian Papillion and Angel was her groomer. I've taken her to other places and although they weren't bad I just was always very underwhelmed and always felt like she didn't come out looking pretty or special. Well today I was very pleasantly surprised when I picked her up and she had a bow in her hair and her nails were painted and she just looked all ready for the Fourth of July and her birthday!! We brought our Golden Retriever here to get groomed and they did a fantastic job. We just needed her coat trimmed, and she was in need of a good bath. The groomer (I believe it was Angel) knew exactly what we wanted done even before we gave much explanation. The staff was very nice and professional, and our Golden looked beautiful. This place is wonderful. Josephine is a lovely person. The salon is beautiful and clean. I took my Shish Tzu puppy for a hair cut and they suggested not to cut his hair to short. So, I have two HUGE, Loving, wiLd and needy chocoLate Lab puppies. At 8 months, they weigh 98 Lbs. and 105. They're favorite thing to do is pLay outside and when it's muddy boy does it get messy!! WeLL today they romped and froLicked outside and afterwards were totaLLy covered in mud. Too big and wiLd for our shower, I was desperate for a groomer. I caLLed severaL pLaces onLy to be turned away because my dogs are too big or given a ridicuLous price. Thank god I found BLoomingtaiLs on yeLp...i caLLed with the expectation that it ain't happening, but I was wrong. Even though they were about to cLose, the boy who answered the phone understood my desperation and was totaLLy wiLLing to cLean these big, Lovebugs even though they were cLosing for the best price I heard yet. When I arrived, he toLd me the owner was aLso going to stay Late to heLp and that reaLLy impressed me being they never met me and I couLd have not even shown!! The pLace was cLean, comfortabLe and chic. My pups are my babies, but they are wiLd as they are onLy pups! They were so good with my babies they actuaLLy were abLe to bathe, groom and dry them without fLooding the pLace or having to chase their muddy paws around the buiLding as wouLd have been the scene if i did it myseLf.
