We usually go to the store and I put together the bouquet. Let me start by saying the lady was very helpful but I can tell she was busy so it's understandable. We just walked in and picked out some flowers for $30. She threw them together and we took them home. I love going to flower shops and sometimes you find those people that are willing to go the extra mile. We definitely got in and out, but we were not extremely happy about the presentation. My son looked at me and was like I know you're gonna fix the fix those right, mom? I told him you already know what I was thinking. But after a few days, and often within a day or two, they begin to droop and fade in spite of my watering diligence. Unfortunately most florists don't know "Beginner Florist 101". Or if they do, they don't bother with this added chore: Before adding flower stems to an arrangement, the stem should be cut again, about an inch above the previous cut, while holding it under lukewarm water. This prevents a dry gap above the cut mark, so the stem will continue to absorb water and therefore last longer. If not done, the stem can't absorb water because there is a gap of air between the cut mark and the part of the plant that "drinks". When I cut flowers from my garden to add to an arrangement, I always partly fill my sink with lukewarm water and cut each stem again underwater before adding it to the water filled vase. After doing this, I often enjoy my cut garden flowers for ten days or more. You will know when your florist does this, as the subject of this review likely has done. Because most of their arrangements will look great for several days, and more often, for more than a week or more. And if you are fortunate enough to receive an arrangement filled with buds about to bloom, they might look as beautiful as mine do in the photo I'm posting five days after they arrived. They look like they're just getting started! I received them January 3rd, and today is January 7th. I'm impressed!!!

Went to Stems on a Saturday to pick up some loose flowers that I could make into an arrangement…read moremyself when I got home. There were quite a few different types of flowers that I liked, and a pretty good selection to choose from. The problem happened, however, when I got home. At the store, they had wrapped all the different flowers in tissue paper and secured with a bow. But when I opened up the package, I noticed that a lot of the flowers were in bad shape. Some of the outer petals on the roses were wilted and had visible brown damage. There were several stems of iris that were completely broken, like bent over, and some that had some sort of mold on them. The big white hydrangea that looked OK from a distance up close actually turned out to be brown all over the place. In the end, I ended up throwing away at least six different flowers right into the trash. The next time I go to a florist, I will definitely pay closer attention, however, that shouldn't have been an issue I had to look for. They should not sell flowers that are rotten or don't look good.

As I was not there to receive the item and didn't have a high resolution photo as proof, I was not able to submit for an item refund on DoorDash. I then called the florist directly who was rude and dismissive. They told me that they would not help me or make a refund for the missing item on the order- that I need to contact DoorDash if I had an issue with the order. When I tried to explain why I couldn't, because I didn't have a photo, again, dismissive. Oh well. As a result, I paid an up charge for absolutely nothing and have no way of getting a return for the missing item that they got paid for. I will not use this florist again, mostly because I was completely disappointed by their lack of customer service and frankly, their dismissive tone to a new customer who spent $126.43. While it wasn't cool paying six dollars for a balloon that wasn't delivered, it was the fact that this company was not only not apologetic about it, made no attempt to remedy it. I used them specifically as I wanted to support Local. Next time I will go through Hy-Vee.
