We finally stopped in at Wenninghoff's after two years of driving by and saying, "We should go there sometime." I'm glad we did! The market is packed with locally made and grown products. We picked up some sandwich pickles, local honey, and a massive seedless watermelon. Prices on some items were a little higher than expected, but given they're local, I didn't mind paying a bit extra--it feels good to support nearby farmers and makers. That said, there are a few things I'd probably skip. One thing to note: they add a $1 fee for card transactions, so if you want to avoid that, bring cash! read more

I loved it more than I thought I would! This place is bigger than I expected. They had every type of produce, jarred goods, snack, herbs, ciders, and treats you could imagine! What a cool farmer's market! Upon arrival we saw never ending acres of gardening. Then when we pulled in we saw goats! I don't know what it is about goats, but, they just make me happy when they're around. Inside there were several selections of vegetables, and homemade canned goods. There was also some honey, dairy and meat. Outside is a variety of fresh herbs you cut yourself. We got a variety of vegetables plus some pickles. So far the vegetables have been fantastic. The hubs LOVES the pickles, but, they are a little too spicy for my taste. Thinking next time we go I want to try the dill pickles instead. I'm really excited to go and visit again. I have shopped at Wenninghoff's a number of times for produce--visiting the big painted building always satisfied with my "fresh from the garden" produce. Today I ventured out back to the greenhouse area and was amazed at the plant selection, and personal assistance finding a trailing vine geranium that I have been unable to find at two other nurseries in the area. If you only visit Wenninghoffs for summer produce or in the fall for a show stopper gourd, learn from my adventure and head out to the herbs, perennials, and plant area. It is pretty amazing and the help is awesome! read more

Really neat little local market, which in addition to selling their own abundant vegetables also includes many local options you'd find at the farmers market or NE Food Coop. Range West grass fed beef, Clear Creek Organic Farms soy-free pork, grass-fed beef and butter, Orchard Hill Creamery certified naturally grown grass fed milk, yogurt and cheeses. Not to mention a variety of canned products: honey, picked vegetables, jams and more from Big Mama's, Sweet Heat, All About Bees, and Wenninghoff's own. Eggs from Salistean Processing (which I think is Can Fleet Meats?) Produce prices don't really seem more expensive than anywhere else with this type of quality either. We'll definitely be back. I've always seen Wenninghoff's produce sold inside HyVee Peony Park, but I never made it out to the farm until this year. I'm so glad I did! There is a lot of farm fresh produce available! Yes, they had pumpkins and squash, but they also had jams, jellies, pasta, and sauces. They had eggplant and asparagus and so much more! They had a fresh herb garden where you can pick and bag your own herbs. I also loved visiting the chickens and goats! They also had some really crafty skeletons made out of cut up plastic milk jugs for sale. Really cool! I will definitely come back at different times in the year to see even more! This place is great. Seems like most people know them for the pumpkin patch in the fall, but they have the barn open selling fresh produce and local products starting around June 1 each year. Also in the spring they sell bedding plants and other plants in their greenhouses. They also have a CSA where you pay an amount up front which they use to grow the vegetables, and give you a bag of fresh product one a week for 18 weeks. It breaks down to a little more than $12 a week and is well worth the price. Although you can buy some of their stuff at Hyvee, it's definitely fresher here. The prices are fair, some cheaper than the grocery store and some more, but it all goes to the local community here. It's a little out of the way for most people, but it's well worth the drive if you love fresh food. read more

At the risk of sounding like the most basic of bitches, I love fall because I can drag my boyfriend to pumpkin patches and farmers' markets and all that other stuff that probably makes him want to abandon me in a corn maze. As far as produce goes, you can forgo the grocery store in favor of Wenninghoff's squashes, tomatoes, peppers, and other autumnal produce. A garden-fresh tomato is to a real boob what a grocery store tomato is to a fake one, you know? This go around we picked up pumpkins, pears, hot peppers, cherry cider, Canadian bacon, and jerky. The jerky didn't even survive the car ride home. I'll be back to buy bison, grassfed butter, and eggs. It may be a bit longer of a drive than the grocery store, but it's worth it to me! read more

Missing this place right now! I go here a lot during the summer months to pick up different seasonal produce. I love grabbing fresh corn, potatoes, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, green beans or watermelon for a nice summer meal at home. They also sell a variety of local meats, cheeses, eggs, pasta, honey and other sauces. It's like going to the farmer's market, but without the crowds, which I personally really like. My two year old daughter also loves going with me. She has fun checking out all the vegetables and we enjoy feeding the goats. It's all around such a great place! read more

For this place being only 10 minutes from our home, I cannot believe it has taken me so long to get here! One of the perks of this place is the large produce market. You don't always get the best prices, but it is nice that the items are local. I did ask them where they got their apples (since I didn't see an orchard) and they told me they were sourced from Fontanelle Orchard. An entrance fee of $6 (during the week) gives you access to a great play area for kids complete with a corn maze, obstacle course, slide made out of an old combine, an old school bus and so much more. They offer hay rack rides and have a small animal area with donkeys, chickens, cows, bunnies and more. The location itself is surrounded by some major city streets so while you feel in some ways like you are at a farm there is still traffic noise in the background and while on the hayrack ride you are backing up to a Celebrity Homes neighborhood. I hear their peaches in the summer are great so we will be back! read more

My best friend took me here because I told her I wanted to visit a farmer's market type of shindig. We got raspberry cider, corn, honey, green beans, and zucchinis. I was really intrigued with all the goodies they sell and got distracted. They sell an assortment of jams, honey, salsa, and the like. John lives really really close by to Wenninghoff's farms and we have never stopped here. I needed some tomatoes and really didn't want to make a huge ride to the store for it. We decided to stop by and were really surprised. Inside it's like an open market where they have a bunch of what they carry at the regular farmers market on Saturdays and Sundays downtown and at Village point. They have the nice popcorn, the nice jams and jellies, the nice enchiladas from South Omaha, and a large variety of produce. Everything looks really fresh and prices are not bad. If you are ever needing anything that you normally get at the farmers market on a weekend and you can't make it, make sure to come to Wenninghoff's Farms. They will likely have it here! I've heard that in fall they do hay rack rides. And they have animals to pet. It is also good to mention that if the produce looks a little bumped or a little funky it'll usually be less expensive.
