I love this salon. I have been coming here for over 10 years. I now live in LA but when I'm in town my husband and I come here for all our needs. The thing that I love the most (aside from their expertise) is how nice and welcoming everyone is every time I come. I'm always greeted with hugs and kisses from multiple stylists. The scheduling is always prompt and accommodating. Frankie did my color for years when I lived in Bucks. It was always what I wanted. Aside from awesome color I always loved how fast he was with foils. I hate sitting in the chair for hours, and with Frankie it was never like that. When I have an event in Philly, Andrea is always my go to makeup artist. She's very talented, sweet, and always makes me look amazing!!! I always get so many compliments. Most importantly I would like to highlight Kristin! As I told her today, I wish she would move to LA. I have very curly, wild hair and have had weekly blowouts for the last decade. I've had blowouts in many states and many different salons. Hands down Kristin is the very best out there!! Seriously I can't say enough about how talented she is. At this point I don't even have to tell her what I want, but she's always listened and gave me the exact look, unlike a lot of other experiences I've had. I have had multiple bad experiences with scheduling appointments with this salon. They do a good job cutting and coloring, but multiple times have had them tell me day of as I walk in that the appointment had to be canceled due to the stylist being sick , but they had the wrong phone number for me , and did not send an email so I came in, and then was told OH I'm sorry, your stylist is sick. On other occasions I was late, maybe 10 minutes, and because of road construction and a train that I had to wait for..which is not their fault nor mine...but they completely canceled the appointment made no accommodations. Very very very disappointing and even though the cut and color is good , I am going to refuse to give my business to them and find somewhere else. I am sure it won't matter in the long run , but when a hair cut is a treat and I go out of my way to plan my day around it or make it on a day I have off of work to be able to take my daughter and am just met with Oops! Or Sorry you had to wait for a train but ya cant get your hair done... I dunno, it just stinks. Without even trying to work it out or even pretending to do so. And once they called while I was on my way, told me I could get cut but no blow dry and then when I walked in said it is completely canceled. Not happy with anything. It's a shame because I really wanted to be happy with my experience going in. Color sucks. Cut is uneven and I'm left with "baby hairs". Damaged my hair. I've personally worked in the hair industry and decided to try out blue hair salon again. Tried to get my hair cut years ago and that was an ok experience. I have dark hair day the least. So I wanted to get blonde highlights and root touch up with a trim . I understand - I will not be entirely blonde the first session. "Ok fine" Then when it came to washing my hair. Between the women who washed my hair and the stylist they pulled and tugged on my hair very hard. Extremely hot water for the wash. I kindly said "please make it colder". Then while putting a towel on my head to dry it she wound up my hair so tight I screamed. Very alarmed that people like that are working with elderly women or someone who has a tender head after reading the rest of the reviews. Very unprofessional and should not be a salon experience. Tbh reading the other reviews. Very worried how this salon is going down hill. As a hair stylist you should want to make people feel better about themselves! Not make things worse. DO NOT get extensions here! I've been coming here for color for years but recently decided to get tape in extensions with Kristen. I went to school in FL and had extensions there, the same kind, and never had issues. After switching to Kristen, she put the entensions in too low and now look at my hair. When I called, the manager accused me of pulling my own hair out or it being my fault. She was super rude and doesn't know how to manage. I'm so upset and disappointed I had to go into my first day of work with a bald spot. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I got my hair cut by Billy. We discussed my mediterranean hair as I don't like my hair texturized, and he agreed that it was wrong for my texture and said that he wouldn't ever texturize my hair. I asked for 1-2" off the bottom and clean up my current layers. Billy said "ok, a layered bob". I said no, not a layered bob, just 1-2" off of the bottom and clean up my layers. I have 50 more photos of my hair over the years and showed many of the pictures to him and repeated "no, not a bob, like this (show pics), soft and long layers" I even explained how to angle and cut it. NOTE: MY HAIR LAYS MIDDLE OF BREAST AND ALMOST TO THE MIDDLE OF MY BACK. During the cut I couldn't see much as there was hair in my face but I did catch Bill pulling a section out and point cutting 4-5" into the layer. I asked him what he was doing and if he was texturizing my hair, he said "no, this is the same thing as pulling it up and cutting it". RESULT: HE TEXTURIZED MY HAIR! HE CUT 6" MINIMUM OFF OF MY LENGTH AT THE BOTTOM AND MY SHORTEST LAYERS WERE MID-EAR. MY HAIR WAS EXTREMELY FRIZZY AND UNMANAGBLE. MORE.... I asked to touch up my existing baby blonde highlights. I don't like heavy highlights. He did a balayage instead because they wanted to do an instagram video. I questioned it and he said that the (bayalage) was the same thing. Nope. My hair now has very very heavy highlights all of the way through and it turned ORANGE!!! WAIT ..... THERE'S MORE!!!!..... The right side of my head is shorter than the left by 4"-5". The texturing goes deep to 5" from the ends. My hair which is normally to the middle of my back, thick, and shiny, is now up to my shoulders, frizzy, knotted, and looks like a used old shag rug. I called the salon after the cut. I spoke to the salon manager, Samantha, and told he how short my hair was but that it was also extremely texturized and that it felt much shorter and choppier on the right side. She made an appointment for me to come back in and see the salon manager, Will. A few days later, I went in and Will blended the top layer a little so it wasn't so poofy since the bottom of my hair went from super thick to paper thin due to over chopping layers. I asked for the texture to be cut out even a little and he didn't do anything. I asked if my hair was shorter and choppier on the right side and he didn't say anything. I told him that instead of getting the layers I asked for that Bill did a balayage and it's too heavy and now orange. Will said that the lighting inside of the salon wasn't good to see the color. He told me to call Samantha because he has meetings with her and they will fix the orange highlights. It appeared that perhaps there wasn't a fix for it or it was so bad that he didn't want to say. At the end of the appointment, I asked Will, "so, let it grow a bit?" and he didn't respond to me. I called Samantha and left a voicemail message. I didn't get a call back. I called the salon when it was open and she wasn't available. It took a month before I called again yesterday, at this point very frustrated as I am in a wedding Saturday and I have choppy orange hair. The receptionist said not to worry and that they will get it fixed this week. She made me an appointment to see Will and the colorist for today at 6:45pm to see what they can do to fix my hair. I got a call ahead of my appointment at 3pm today from Alexandria stating that Will has decided that after so many consultations, that he will refund me my $180 so that I could go to another salon. I took the offer. My reasons... One, I never had a consultation so I don't know why they said "after so many consultations" so it leads me to believe that they don't know who I am in the mix of people who have messed up hair. Two, they never called me back. Three, I never got any feedback on my hair and a resolution. I'm a single mom. I'm not made of money. When I go to a salon, I spend good money and tip very well. Because of this, Alexandria, said that Will said that because of my financial situation, they feel it's best that I go to another salon. Cha-Ching!! While the vibe at the salon is inviting, you are taking a chance letting anyone cut or color your hair. Mistakes happen - it's a huge mistake - but a mistake, so I kept it cool until I didn't get a call back - and even then, I toned my frustration down. This salon is very lacking in skill and seriously lacking in customer service. Fix what you messed up. Communicate. Call people back. Stop counting the dollars. Approaching 24 years, it's somewhat alarming to realize I've been faithfully coming to Blue for more than half my life. But that's the way it works when you find a place that's perfect. Everybody working at Blue is dedicated, talented, passionate and personable. Billy is a genius with color, Kristen can do more with a brush, blow dryer and 40 minutes than most people can accomplish in a day, Meghan and Paul are both amazing at up-do's, (as are Marguerite, Marylene, Sarah...who all were a part of our wedding day prep too!) Andrea is an artist when it comes to make-up, Angie is a god send in the form of an esthetician, and finally, Rinnie works serious magic as a massage therapist. There is something for everyone, with every hair type and style, here! The best in the business and just another excellent reason for me to come visit home. First off, I waited a few days to review this place as I have had a few haircuts in my life that looked great the day of, after being blowdried and styled by professionals, but when left to my own skills looked terrible til they grew out. I never had a good experience in a hair salon and so went over ten years without a real hair cut. I was super nervous to finally cut off about three feet of hair. I called up Blue and the girl on the phone was super friendly and took the time to talk to me about what I wanted. She scheduled me with Meg and I could not be happier with the results. She was fun and easy to talk to. I am very uncomfortable in situations where strangers are working on me (i.e. haircuts, nails, massage, makeup, etc) but she put me at ease very quickly. I basically said "I have no idea what to ask for specifically; I want something within this length range that is flattering, that I can walk out the door without styling, but also has potential to get creative with occasionally." She did such an incredible job that despite being about three feet of hair difference, many people are complimenting me on my appearance without being able to tell I got a haircut - it fits me so well. In addition to Meg's skills, the salon itself is dope. I can't stand the typical bright white retail store look of many salons. Blue has serious personality. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and accommodating. Each stylist station is a little different, the waiting area is cozy and welcoming even when crowded, and the lighting is warm. I did it, I finally made an appointment with Kristen for a consultation for hair extensions. Immediately off the bat I'm not impressed, for one, when the persons who would be performing your fusion hair extensions doesn't even have them in her own hair but has a weave instead is a bit bizarre. Why not give me a weave? Ill try it and it would probably be $1,500.00 cheaper. Now the kicker, when I requested to see pictures of her work and what I would be forking over $1,700.00 sans tip, she told me she didn't have any. Well that is just unheard of. NEXT! *Kristen did tell me that there was a picture of one of her hair extension clients on line. Which didn't really help me sitting in the salon ** I would like to add that after I posted my first review I was emailed by the salon owner, Apologizing for my inconvenience and she would be happy if I came in too see her, I believe she offered some kind of gratuity. This place is AMAZING. Walking in, the vibe just hits you. Trendy, edgy, cool and comforting all at the same time. Old wood floors, clothing and some jewelry are strung on the banister of the wooden staircase. A beautiful sofa sits near the entry with two vintage-y booth-like chair are placed in front of the LIT fireplace. They had cookies, muffins and cakes on the coffee table in front of the seating. Every stylist station is made from vintage, furniture with large mirrors- no piece is completely the same, giving you that unique, warm vibe. I came here on a Saturday morning and this place was buzzing! Every stylist had someone in their chair and more were waiting by the fireplace. However, despite being busy, I was immediately greeted and offered a beverage. Just a minute later, I was brought a cold water. I only waited about 10 minutes before being greeted by my stylist, Erik. He had a suave, calm demeanor and asked what I wanted to do. Let me just say that I kind of hurt my hair previously. I tried to go for the red look and hated the way it turned out on me. So, it was short lived, but as we all know, red likes to overstay its welcome on your strands. I wanted to go back to a blonde ombré. Erik was very honest and said that it would be difficult to do what I wanted without getting an orange-y look but would do his best. I actually really appreciated that honesty- not promising the moon and end up looking like Carrot Top. Erik offered me another beverage- I happily accepted a glass of red wine. (It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?) It was quite a process and I ended up staying about 3.5 hours at Blue. But the result was so worth it! Erik managed to give me the ombré look I wanted! The blonde ended up being a lighter caramel and it looks beautiful! He really worked magic and gave me a cut that feels great and brought me back to my healthy locks! Everyone was super friendly, including Billy, who was stationed next to Erik. A woman mentioned to me that she travels 45 minutes to see Billy, he's worth the drive and always makes her hair perfect! Will, the owner, even came over to me, chatted about my hair when it was about to be finished and asked how I had found them. He was warm and genuine. The reviews on here on right- these stylists know what they're doing and they're nice while they're doing it! I will 100% be back to see Erik- he got exactly what I wanted, put his own style to it and was realistic with me about the results I would see on day one. Did I mention they have live music on Saturdays to listen to while you get pampered? And in the afternoon, they brought out a meat, cheese and cracker platter. Ok, I am in the beauty biz, so I am pretty hard to please- style wise. Not to mention the fact that my hair resembles that of a lion's mane if a lion could grow an afro. Seriously hard to cut. Randi got it. I met Randi because I was forever complimenting my neighbor on how great her hair looked. So, I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment with her 'girl' :). Randi is attentive and detail oriented, which are both definitely key to a good hairdresser. She asked what she could cut, before she laid in with the scissors, and luckily I was pleased with the end result after leaving it all up to her. After all, she knows her stuff, why not let a pro tell me what they think I should have. Also terrific with color! She has a great sense of style herself, so of course I wanted to sit in her chair. After my original stylist left (Lynda), I tried many of the other hair stylists and found that the one thing they all shared in common was the fact they made you feel like a friend, not just a customer. And if I didn't like the way someone colored my hair (because my hair is dark and Lynda had just the right touch with it), I tried someone else out. It's a delicate situation, but the staff at Blue never ever make you feel guilty or embarrassed for trying to find the right "fit" like so many other salons do. The thing is, I could have followed Lynda, but I was reluctant to leave Blue because it has such a warm atmosphere, is professional but with their own unique personality. I came to Blue Hair Salon for a balayage with Bri, and I had the BEST experience here!! Bri was helpful and patient with me while I explained what I wanted and while working on dying, blow drying and cutting my long hair. I wasn't too happy with how my hair was dyed previously before coming to Blue, and Bri reassured me that it would be no problem to fix it. Once she was done with my hair, it's as if the previous hair job didn't even exist! The salon itself has a great vibe too, from the staff to the decor. They also have coffee/snacks/drinks for you to enjoy while you get your hair done. It could run on the pricier side, depending on what range you're usually used to paying - but it's SO worth it!! She took the time to understand me, what I wanted, and how rather than just rushing in to just get it all done. If you want a crazy-fantastic salon experience, then Blue is for you. Service, ambiance, product selection, and most of all, high-end/high-talent stylists. I arrived early for my hair cut appointment hoping to get my eyebrows waxed-- I only waited about ten minutes to get an unscheduled waxing; Andrea was meticulous in her waxing and clearly very dedicated to her craft and clients. She was also very enthusiastic when i shared with her i was getting my long hair cut VERY short. I look forward to more services with Andrea-- beautiful human with shining energy. Having accompanied my daughter to Blue a few weeks ago for a hair cut by Erik, I knew he was the stylist for me. His expertise and knowledge is clear immediately. There are two things I struggle with when I move to a new place - finding a dentist and finding a hair stylist. Well, I am still trying to find a good dentist but I found a hair stylist I plan on sticking with for as long as I live in the area. Blue is a really cool place that offers a lot of different services - hair, waxing, nails, spa services, clothing store on 3rd floor, and now even tattoo artists. They have two buildings now and have even added a bar over the past year. I love my stylist, Gina. She does my color/highlights and even when I got married I brought her my hair extensions and she matched the color perfectly to them (even my wedding hair person complimented the match). The actual building is pretty trendy inside - nicely designed and even has live music on weekends. I absolutely love going to Blue. I even decided to get a tattoo there last year and have no regrets - she did an awesome job. read more

Well, the uninspired full highlight/cut has made my whole head drab. At least she was consistent. I honestly feel like the ladies with bad perms in Northeast gave a comparable service, sans the great music, cool old house, and $200 less. Happens to me every time I get my haircut by Thom at Blue. Thom has been cutting my hair since he started at Blue and never disappoints.
