Ok I don't know where these reviews are coming from. But this place was wayyyy less than impressive. Severs were super nice but also super bad. Like totally forgetful and not at all attentive. No silverware when we started eating. No napkins either. When we asked a question about the menu the server left to check and when they came back 10 minutes later they asked if we were ready to order and said they didn't have time to check on our question because they got busy on something. Ugh. It was like pulling teeth. The Beef Burrito has beans in it despite the menu not mentioning that. And the ground beef just tasted weird. It wasn't huge, nor was the quesadilla. Just regular size. The $4+ small cheese dip is white colored and was super small. So where is everyone getting off saying the portions are huge? Not even close to it. I don't get it. Tortilla soup was pretty good but they serve it with a teaspoon making it difficult to eat. Bill is handwritten and it wasn't clear what was being charged for because they didn't write what they were charging for. It just had a bunch of figures on it. Also there's no hand sanitizer available. So keep that in mind. The most disturbing part is I noticed our server cleaning tables and then serving us food, in each case bare handed. Seriously uncool. I think they need instructions in hygiene during this COVID times. It's really not safe. The server who checked us out (there's a payment counter) had the sniffles and no mask. Argh. There's a sign on the door saying they were short staffed and to be patient. Fine. I get it. But really for all our sakes, safety first please. read more

My husband and I were driving from Jacksonville to Montgomery and we stopped here for lunch. I haven't found a Mexican restaurant in Jax that I love (I've been to a ton). What an awesome surprise Blue Agave was! We were seated and almost immediately were brought chips and salsa. Chips were thin, fresh and crispy and the salsa was flavorful - great start! We both ordered a taco and a chili rellano. Wow- they were fantastic. The taco was crispy with yummy fillings and the chili was breaded and lightly fried perfectly -both seasoned well. Stopped in for some Mexican food and we were not disappointed. We were seated right as we walked in, it was Thursday afternoon and some people were leaving as we came in. Wasn't very crowded but had a few people still having lunch. I ordered the chicken burrito enchilada style! The chicken was juicy and had great flavor. My wife ordered the El Pastor tacos on corn tortillas, and she loved them. We also got guacamole and were pleasantly surprised by the taste, we are from Arizona and have dined in many Mexican restaurants during our lives but this one was up at the top of our favorites. We went to this place, on the square in Ozark, looking for something close to authentic Tex-Mex food. After spending 38 years in Texas, we're a little spoiled. The food here is above average in quality and the preparation is good, but it is very bland and I'm not talking about hot, if you were blindfolded, and eating the food, you'd not know that this was a Tex-Mex place. Finally!! I always test Mexican restaurant s with one simple dish. Chilies Rellenos. (Sp)! I was raised In Texas and So. Cal. So I love this dish. Since leaving those states I always get something that resembles an omelette. Which scrambled egg wrapped over a chilli that has hamburger and cheese stuffed in it. YUCK! THE BEST Mexican food in this area; period. Dishes range from authentic taqueria tacos to conventional burritos and enchiladas. The chicken tortilla soup is THE BEST you'll find, anywhere. Met some friends here to try this place out, and we are glad we did. A little hole in the wall on the side of 231, you know immediately this is either a five star or one star, nothing in between! I arrived first and a small kid took me to a table, but he didn't know what was going on, I think he was the waitresses' child. When my friends arrived, we were immediately seated and one basket of chips and a very small bowl of salsa arrived. Really, 4 people??? After tasting the salsa, more bowls ordered. The salsa was a deep red and pureed finer than I prefer, but the taste made it all ok. I know this area isn't fond of heat, and this salsa proved it, but unlike other places, it had enough flavor that I didn't need to ask for extra heat!!!! A bowl of queso was ordered for the table, and it was ok. Resembled Rico's cheese sauce, white, no peppers or tomatoes visible, a can me thinks! A wide sampling of dishes were ordered so everyone could have a little of everything. I ordered a combo with a cheese enchilada and a soft chicken taco with beans and rice. Also ordered for table were the crawfish nachos and a crawfish burrito. The beans and rice, however standard, were delicious!!! Again, if prepackaged, they were tweaked enough to satisfy. The cheese enchilada seemed to be lacking one important element, cheese! I am not sure if this was due to melting(but no cheese on plate to prove this) or just lack of cheese, but the tortilla in the enchilada sauce was surprisingly good. Now to the taco......I do believe this was the best chicken taco I have ever eaten. It had the required shredded iceberg and cheddar cheese and token tomatoes on top, but the chicken!! It was large pieces of white meat, seasoned perfectly. With a dallop of the salsa, bells rang!! Good bells!!! A bite that rivals those fund out west!!! Bravo!! The crawfish nachos were a platter sized heaping dinner. You could actually see more crawfish than chips. This appeared to also be covered in some sort of liquid cheese, but got a yum review from everyone at the table. This portion could easily feed 2-3 people, as portion size is not an issue here. A veggie quesadilla looked to be bout 2 pounds of food, stuffed with onions and peppers, mushrooms, cheese, broccoli. The inside of this was so hot it could only mean one thing.....microwave. The entire order did not take 10 minutes, and there were about 5 tables ahead of us, and the speed of service again yells nuking! This place needs to distinguish the difference between nuking and cooking, and this could mean 5 stars immediately!!! The margaritas appeared to come from a machine, but got thumbs up! A lot of what goes on here is behind the swinging doors, and I do think there are a lot of cans and boxes involved, but again they have added their special touch and everything was tasty! This little place is a 30 minute drive for us, and one well worth it. Service was quick(a little too quick for actual cooking), very friendly and the food was really very good. This place hasn't been open that long, and they do have some issues to work through, but this is some of the best Mexican in this area, well worth a drive. It just happened that everyone at the table had either lived in Texas or surrounding areas, so we know or Mexican, and this place delivers it! Some locals may be disappointed that this food leans towards actual Mexican and not TexMex, but still worth the venture.
