I visited Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge, and overall, the experience was just okay. The water park itself was nice, the water was clean, and the slides that were open were fun. However, there were still a few slides closed, which was disappointing. One of the issues was the free drinks. It's a great perk, but most of the time the drinks were warm because they kept running out of ice. When they actually had ice, the drinks were good, but it was difficult to enjoy them when the machines were constantly out. Another major concern was the smell. Throughout most of my visit (around 12 p.m to 5:20 p.m.), there were frequent strong sewage odors throughout the park. While we were eating, the smell became so noticeable that we couldn't even finish our food. Anytime the breeze came through, you could smell it again, and it really affected the overall experience. The park has potential, and I enjoyed the slides that were available, but the closed attractions, lack of ice, and ongoing sewage smell were major drawbacks. I'm not sure if I would return unless those issues were addressed. read more

The pricing was egregious. 150$ for 3 people, booked over 7 days in advance. Could've gone to 6 flags and gotten a better experience for the same price. The people were nice, but the rides were underwhelming, there wasn't anywhere aside from the wavepool and lazy river to really have some chill fun while the kids played. Crazy kids running around, pushing people and saying slurs with 0 parents in sight and no stepping in from the part staff. HAD TO PAY FOR PARKING, after the OUTRAGEOUS ticket prices. Huge disappointment!!! Go to any other waterpark before coming here. We been looking foward to coming here once we found they were going to open up again with new management, and we're hugely let down. Let's start with i payed $50 per ticket (once they add their other fees 4 ticket ran $221.) And when we arrived we were charged another 5 dollars to park because we not season holders. Had rent to rent 2 lockers for $16 a piece for medium locker that were rather small. Get in park finialy to descover the 4 main slides that were the reason for us making the trip here only 2 were up and running and 2 that were running were not all operational. I will say the life guards and the park employees for most part were alsome untill we got something to eat and there most employees were in a bad mood, also we paid $46 for 3 burgers and 3 fries. They had a sign for chicken sandwiches so waiting in line just to descover they in fact didnt have chicken sandwiches despite the signs everywhere saying they did. Went to another spot to get our 4th person atlest chicken strips and they 1st gave us 2 strips for $12. I should really call it nuggets they lady that took my money did tell they guy he needed to put another strip in plate because the size of them. And he acted like he was ask to give me his kidney. At this point I was so frustrated with everything. If your going to have you customers pay full price than we going expect the park to be fully open, not half the slides closed. The lest they could do is give discount. And yes you go online and buy to save a few dollars but I wanted to make sure the weather wouldn't rain us out so I bought the tickets the night before and tickets went for 48.99 than add there fees so I still paid the full amout. We plan go 2 day in a row and now im so glade I waited to buy the next day tickets. I was going try to salvage the trip and we go to gulf port water park but then realized they ran by same company and will not make that mistake again. I plain to warn all my clients to stay far away from this park, and hope I can keep them from having their family trip ruin like ours was. Especially being this trip was plan just to go to this hugh disappointment. Oh and 2 of my sons got hurt because another customer stayed in the slide and the park didnt check on them. And the customer was allow to stay in park despite several customers complaining. So when rain move in at 2 30 we just left we were still at the park when I decided to do this review that how poorly this trip was every time I think im done complaining I have edit my review because we remember one more thing that made this park so not worth it they should be allow to operate if they cant get more right than wrong and dont advertising slides you have if they not able to be used. The biggest problem or problems are not being informed when you purchase tickets for both parks is they fail or decline to tell you that half the rides or attractions are closed or not in operation UNTIL after you pay the full price for tickets. Honestly over the years and trust me I've spent many many dollars and hours in both parks .! They make enough money to to do a better job in the maintenance department but you can't tell it personally and just my opinion I would refrain from taking my grandkids or anyone's children. Simply because the rides on the amusement park side are poorly maintained And quite simply appear tired in appearance I've been around such mechanical Apparatuses For most of my adult life. Can you have a good time there ? I would say 15 years ago yes now after a visit not long ago unfortunately I would say enter at your own risk. Half the park was closed (Dixie completely (besides log ride) and MORE THAN HALF THE WATER PARK WITH NO WARNING ON SOCIALS AND WEBSITE UNTIL THE ENTRANCE), only things open were red/black slide, wave pool, pirates cove, purple/yellow tornado slide, the racing mat slide, the white 4 person raft slide, and the log ride. No sprinklers so your feet are burning to a crisp, barley anyone working so you can't get help for anything and also the ones there are rude. Before people jump to apply, heed others' stories. In 2001, I worked two months at Blue Bayou for $2 under minimum wage because I was too young and stupid to know any better. They bank on that. Two weeks before I would have gotten my summer bonus to bump it up to minimum wage (aka, their predatory loophole) they fired me for a BS reason after setting me up. They dump 1/3 of their staff this way just before Summer ends and their daily admissions rate drops off. I don't know if it's the same now, but when I was there in 01, they'd charge a school bus $500 just to drop kids off. Not to park, not to enter, literally just to bring them to the front door. If the bus (or any other vehicle) tried to drop people off on Perkins, or god forbid anyone try to walk up, they were denied entry. This is a nickel-and-dime-you-to-death operation that extorts teenagers by convincing them they're getting "good life experience." If you're too young to get other jobs, go work for a landscaping company who can pay you in cash. You'll get the same amount of outdoor work, deal with much better customers, and you don't have to worry about getting conned out of money you're owed at the end of the season. read more

This place has lost its quality all together. Why am I paying $50 to enter when half of the park is closed(Dixie landin). Wouldn't you think the price would lower because of that ??? I understand that they can be short staffed but that doesn't excuse the fact that we are paying full price for a park that's not fully operating. They used to have sprinklers on to keep the ground wet so you don't burn the skin on the bottom of your feet off but that's not working... so it's miserable walking from slide to slide. That is all. I had so much fun! All of the water rides were open and so we're all the food stands. I have to say their food is really expensive and not worth it. The wings take 20 minutes to come out and we were the only ones in line and they were really gross. The snowballs just taste like water with pink coloring. The best thing I had was probably the nachos. Everything is overpriced as well when it comes to food. If it was possible I'd give it 0 stars. A family of 4 went, costed about 200 dollars. Just for 2 slides to be open. The red and black was open, and the yellow and purple. That's it. There's about 10 people working as lifeguards for the LAZY RIVER. Who's going to drown in a 2ft deep river with floaties. We enjoy Blue Bayou but just wished it was open longer throughout the year :( Even Dixie Landing (the amusement park side) could stay open year round. I visited Blue Bayou/Dixie Landing today. The food is basic amusement park food. You obviously don't come here for the food. Unless that's your thing. Blue Bayou was honestly pretty cool for an out of towner. There were several different types of slides, so, you could find at least one you really liked. The two I liked best were the Azuka and Voodoo. The Azuka is purple and yellow. It's minimum of two riders. It's a huge opened cyclone like water slide. I recommend sitting in the front where you drop down. The voodoo a is red and black slide. Also a minimum of two. It has twists and turns. It's fully enclosed shaped like a cyclone as well. You don't know when you're going to drop. ****I went to ride the log ride at Dixie Landin' before changing my clothes but you don't have to change clothes.***** Dixie Landin' was completely nostalgic for me. I'm from Shreveport, La. We had a very similar park called Hamel's Amusement Park. It closed down several years ago. The Flyin' Tiger and Gilbeau's Galaxy were two of my favorite rides as a kid and it brought back so many memories today. Also, the Ragin Cajun is similar to Mr. Freeze at Six Flags and I love that. All in all I thought it was an overall good day. They even offer an opportunity to get in the next day for half price. read more

- Blue bayou treats their underage workers like slaves ($6 an hour and they hold $2 until the end of the summer to keep you there), - they say they don't tolerate sexual harassment in any form in their manual but I was harassed by one of the foodservice managers on multiple occasions (i'm 17 and he was 22), - their dress code is very obviously biased toward black girls (no braids, no fake nails, no weave etc), - the owner Kathy Haynes is blatantly racist and will pull aside black families at the entrance for swearing while there are white families doing the exact same things and getting in the park with no problems, - the food managers take the cooks side over the server on every occasion (I put in an order, cook sent it out wrong, I was blamed for it despite multiple witnesses to me writing down the order correctly), in addition to this the park is incredibly disgusting with rats in every restaurant in the park, the only sanitary place to get food is the ice cream booth near the front of the park bc the girl that works it cleans it's thoroughly every day, the ground in the park is very rough and is in desperate need of replacement, it will cut and burn your feet I used to go here all the time but I can't imagine supporting this awful business anymore, and I ask that you don't either read more

Planned a whole weekend in Baton Rouge to spend Saturday and Sunday at the parks. Paid full price for Saturday, got our 2 hotel rooms for the night and headed back for our second day free on Sunday. We were told (after we had to ask) that we needed to keep our receipt for our second day free. That is all we were told. Went back to get in for our second day and was turned away and told we were supposed to go to one of their stores the day before to get a different voucher. So we left with 5 kids crying because our second day was ruined. We decided to stop and call them and speak to a manager. Supposedly we got the "owner" on the phone and she basically told us we were lying; that all the employees read from a script and we are to never call back again. If that is how the owner talks to people, it is no wonder customer service in the park was horrible. My 5 kids were promised a weekend of fun while their dad is out of the country protecting ours. Sadly it was cut short because minimum wage kid employees are the ones left to inform people of procedures. Guess what...scripts are not read verbatim when they have hundreds of people coming through the gate at one time At the least you could donis post signs about the 2nd day procedures as people are coming in the door, but you are probably banking on people not knowing the procedures for their "2nd free day". And just to point out...they turned us away today and we easily would have spent close to $200 in food and snacks and we were going to purchase 8 season passes; 7 for us and 1 for the dad over seas for when he gets back. First no where on the website does it mention that they would only have 3 slides open. 80% of the park is closed down and we still had to pay damn near full price. This was a ripoff. You can't have a beer outside at all not even at the table which is where we were going to sit. Only inside where it's freezing. Food is disgusting and overpriced.The bathrooms are even worse- they need to be reported for mold and mildew and general filth. And the cleaning staff are just chilling in the "dressing rooms" inside the bathrooms not letting you change in them. Bathrooms are nasty. Shower curtains held up with zip ties. I don't know how this place is still operating at all. And probably the most disgusting is the life guards on the slides being too busy with flirting with teenage girls than moving the line along with shoving each other in line. Just not paying attention and don't care. Clearly unconcerned with rider safety. The staff is completely inadequate for operation needs especially safety on slides when kids are pushing to go back down the stairs impatiently. This was the bare minimum opening back up and to charge what they did for next to nothing is just horrible. Due to covid only half the slides are working, if that. We're not informed ahead of time when purchased our tickets. You still had to pay full price, no refunds were available. They utilized their lifeguards to block the entrances to those slides not working. It took almost an hour to get through one slide. 1). Too expensive. We took advantage of the late bird special where, if you go after 3, it's $17.95 per person. The park closes at 6. It's half price for those last three hours but is still so over-priced. 2). Parking was $5, and had to be cash. Oops. ATM at a nearby bank helped us. Bring cash people! 3). Didn't want to bring much in so we had our car keys and debit card. Walked forever, waited in line, made it through, and then couldn't proceed without going back to get license. Not an awful policy but signs posted near entrance to line would have made sense rather than right on the window where you pay. 4). Lockers are $10 with a $4 refund, and very small. 5). They are serious about no outside food and drinks. They thoroughly checked bags. 6). Kiddie area was nice, but my 7- and 9-year-olds were not permitted in most of the area although the website says hey should have been. They are both tall for their age. It was just frustrating as many of the larger slides were too scary for them. 7). Lifeguards blow whistles so constantly that you become immune to them. They aren't happy to be there. I wouldn't be either, I guess. 8). The other patrons were generally very kind and pleasant. There were a ton of people and most everyone was respectful of one another. *sigh* I wish this could be a better review, but it just cannot be. I truly hope BB reads these and takes the constructive criticism seriously. 1.) $5 to park so far away and then walk and walk...and walk... and walk some more to get to the actual waterpark is ridiculous. It was a hot, dreadful walk to and from the parking lot to the park. 2.) Our youngest child is 16 months old. We have a stroller. Dragging the stroller up the terribly long stairs that lead from the parking lot to the entrance of the park is insane and unnecessary. No ramps, no elevators, nothing. 3.) We spent the majority of our time in the kiddie section of the park, but at one point we decided to see what else there was around the park. We didn't bring our shoes with us, as most waterparks you don't need to... but here? You need your shoes at all times or your feet will burn off. Why aren't there any sidewalk sprinklers or misters? Other waterparks have water streaming onto hot parts of the sidewalk so you don't have to be in pain walking through the park. 4.) Employees weren't friendly. 5.) Tickets were waaaaay too expensive. For what the park has and the quality of the experience, tickets need to be half the price. 6.) There were only a couple of places that you could pay with cash/credit/debit. Everywhere else required the food tickets. So you stand in line for tickets and then stand in line for food/drinks. Why not have the food booths take all forms of payment along with tickets? I get that for some it may be easier to carry food tickets (kids, especially), but it shouldn't be the primary method of payment. It is a business... shouldn't they be making it easier for the patron to spend their money? 7.) They don't allow any outside food and drinks. Even Disney World and other waterparks allow outside food and drinks. Guess what - I'm nice -this is my first one star review! So, what did Blue Bayou do to deserve this dubious honor? Well, let me start - I took my kids here for a what should have been a day of water and amusement park fun. First mistake - assuming this was a "fun" place for kids. I'm going to cut to chase here with a simple list: 1. The prices are outrageous. Admission alone was almost $120.00 for myself and two children (ages 12 and 8). Parking is another $5 and the small lockers rent of $10. 2. The place just looks well, unkept. It appeared to be in great need of maintenance. 3. The pacing of the lines was unbelievably slow. Very poor crowd management. 4. The "staff" (I use the term liberally) was rude, uninformed, and not at all helpful. 5. At least half of the rides on the "Dixie Landing" amusement park side were not in service. What's up with that? I paid full price didn't I? Well, all I can say that I will not ever - I mean NEVER- be back. This is without a doubt the WORST amusement park of any type that I have ever visited (and I have visited MANY). I have nothing at all positive to say about it. I know that there are not a lot of choices for water amusement parks in this area. Unfortunately, BB knows this too. Please - do yourself a favor. DO NOT GO TO BLUE BAYOU!! On top of being outrageously expensive, the park is very dangerous. My dad is a certified welder of 20 years. He inspected the welds of the rides and said they are not up to code. 1.Someone died on the 'xtreme roller coaster a few years back. She was ejected out of the seat and died in impact. The coaster continues to run. We got on the coaster and the maintenance man had to get us down because we were stuck on the track. That's scary!!!!! 2. The cobra waterside only allows four people at a time to walk up the stairs. The whole ride sways in the wind. 3. To buy food or drinks you have to stand in a long line to purchase tickets. Then, you have to stand in a long line to purchase your food. This seems a little overboard. Shouldn't a large business be able to accept major credit cards at one food line? 4. All the life guards have their own set of rules. The teenage "supervisors" were very rude. One "supervisor" told me I could bring our 2 year old to the top of the slide, but I had to go back down to the bottom of the 2 story kids slide to catch. Her reasoning was because only children under 50 inches could go down that slide, but it was perfectly ok for me to go down the under 48 inch slides with him. I was told the slides were from different manufacturers lol. We will not be going back. My advice is save your money and take a trip to a Florida waterpark. This place is a joke read more

The park itself is nice. The employee's absolutely don't do anything nor do they know how to smile. They weigh you before you get on half of the rides and then it doesn't even matter. I got stuck in one of the shooting slides staff was extremely rude and didn't say a single thing. I would come back if they got a new staff. Blue Bayou has been where my family and I have gone since I was hardly able to get on any of the rides. It is really fun and a great place for families. They take safety really seriously (an extreme plus if you have children as the lifegaurds take child safety very, very seriously) and the workers are very kind. My dad brought seasonal passes for us that we plan to make good use of. (I write this as we leave the parking lot). We came on a day where there was rain in the forecast. They kept the rides open until thunder and lightning started. They tried to wait it out, but ended up shutting the park early, but handed out tickets to allow anyone to come back on another day -not Saturday- after 3pm (since that was around the time it was forced closed). Turns out, I left a brand new, not-easily-replaceable hat in the park after we turned in our key and were about to leave the park. They were kind and let us back in to search the locker and lockers around it. The workers and kind, the place and bathrooms are clean, and the place is very, very fun!!! We went on a day where there were very few people in the park so there weren't many lines at all. Blue Bayou Dixie Landin' is NOT equipped to handle the crowds they allow in their gates. Saturday, July 11, the day of the Panic! At The Disco concert, we witnessed the poorest show of concern for guest health and safety and after today's visit, you bet I will never be back. We first saw a young girl pass out, hit her head on the trunk of a car, and leave with a bloody nose. This was in the 1hr+ line wrapped through the parking lot at 11am just to get into the park. We waited 45 minutes to purchase food tickets in order to wait another 45 mins to buy a lemonade because the concession stands were out of bottled water. We saw a total of 9 people pass out from heat exhaustion. The way the park operated was absolutely deplorable. I understand it's peak season, maybe even one of the busiest days at the park, but it is completely unacceptable to run out water in conditions that the park should be used to after 20+ years of operation. During my 45 min wait to purchase tickets in order to buy a drink, a young girl with her Mother behind me in line, threw up from heat exhaustion on me. Poor baby. They were waiting to buy tickets to buy lemonade after they were told by 3 different stands that they were out of water. Then, as I waited for another 45 mins in the lemonade line, I saw another young girl faint in the crowd. Horrible crowd management and a horrible way to run park concessions. There should be dedicated water stands throughout the park. A 15 min wait for a water fountain is insane when people are becoming dehydrated IN LINE. I haven't even mentioned that the crowd awaiting the 7pm concert was corralled in an area to wait for the concert grounds to open, causing further heat issues from the tight quarters. My group left before the concert because we were fuming. I don't care that we had to wait over an hour each to ride 2 waterslides and the tilt-a-whirl. I have waited longer for attractions. I bought season tickets for my son and i this summer. We loved it! Of course they had long lines on the weekend what amusement park doesent. The food is just like any other amusement park...average. I mean dont expect a five star burger people!! The staff to me were always alert and paying attention...they didnt have smiles on their faces but they look very alert on their surroundings. I felt very safe and we had a great time! One of the days We went i had gotten a flat tire and i ask management for help and they were quick to help me change my tire and I was back in the park!! We will be getting season tickets next summer!!! read more

First time at Blue Bayou. Park 8 out of 10. Clean, pretty well organized. Staff at the lunch counter 2 out of 10. Life Guards at the pool, 10 out of 10. Those guys and gals were on point. Summer job kids running the rides 4 out of 10. They seriously need a Walmart cheer at the beginning of every shift. One or two were good, the rest could care less. And the whole waiting for the last rider to completely exit the water before letting the next one go was ridiculously inefficient. Plus running only one lane at a time compounded the problems. It has a lot of potential, but it's run very poorly from the guest perspective. They could cut their wait times 70% with a few enthusiastic teams that would hustle just a tad to move guests through the rides better. Hour or more waits for a 30 to 50 second ride...they could do so much better. We had fun but would have ridden more of the big ones if they ran them better. Great candidate for undercover boss! Gross, over priced, mildew all over the pool deck, incompetent life guards, poor water filtration system. The owner of this water park should start investing in wear and tear up keep. This place feels trapped in 1997. I'd rather go to the cool zoo than this festering death trap. Won't be back ever and neither should you. read more
