My family and I love a good zoo. This one is currently under construction, so they actually gave us free tickets to come back. A lot of the main exhibits are still closed, but we did enjoy ourselves. They have a huge selection of birds, and the rhinos were cool to look at. The goats were probably our favorite spot because you can brush and pet them. We had a nice time.

Cute zoo. Undergoing renovations, so no zoo train, and about half the exhibits are closed. Employees are friendly. Children were chasing the peacocks and no one was really stopping them.

This zoo has never really been super impressive. It does offer something to do on a day, especially if you have kids. They are currently doing improvements and expanding. No complaints really it's just hard to give a great review when it's so close to the Audubon Zoo.

    Pretty zoo lights!

This zoo needs a little facelift (and they are getting one next year!) but it is still a great place to bring a young child. The staff has done a great job during the pandemic and even though my family has gone during peak events (Boo at the Zoo & Zoo Lights), we have always felt safe. We usually get there at 9:30 for opening, stop by Flamingo Cafe for lunch, and are back at our car by 12:30 for toddler's nap. We have not visited the petting zoo yet but maybe next time! We can't wait to see what the 2022 brings to the zoo!

Zoos make me sort of sad tbh so I can't say I ever really seek them out but we came here for Zoo Lights and it was a fun holiday activity. $5/pp and about an hour to take a leisurely stroll through the lights. We stopped at the flamingo cafe and got hot chocolate which was cheap and good warm fuel for the latter half of our walk. Very cute light displays and you could see some of the animals (zebras, elk, cranes, etc). We saw lots of families/kids and also some couples like us. It's a bit of a trek from the main part of Baton Rouge but a fun thing to do during the holidays nonetheless.

I have to say that it has been years since I've been to this zoo. Honestly, zoos are not my favorite places. I end up feeling so bad for the animals afterwards that they are not in their respective natural environments. Some of the enclosures are just plain sad. The hippo, jaguar and bear (just to name a few) enclosures seem so tight... uh not a lot of space for them to roam around and they just look so lonely. This zoo has been here for a long time and needs some major updates. The fams and I went during phase 2 of COVID-19 reopening and there were restrictions (no need to wear a mask) with social distancing, certain exhibits closed and there were one-way directional arrows that helped guests navigate their way thru the zoo. I'm happy to report that the staff that I encountered though were all really nice. It was a hot day, so we didn't spend more than a couple hours there. Thankfully, there were plenty of shaded areas and benches we could rest from the heat. It was definitely something different to do. My daughter always enjoys going there and I'm glad we got to do it as a family for the Father's Day weekend.

This zoo is pretty good. There are a few of the exhibits that could use some work, and it's not as nice as the New Orleans Zoo, but for what it is, it's nice. They have a pretty cool tiger exhibit that they built not too long ago. And there is a variety of different animals. And the zoo trip wouldn't be complete without a ride on the cypress swamp train!

It's amazing how central this zoo is and how much they have going on, no one who guess only 20 min from downtown there is an entire world housing some of the worlds most exotic animals. I look forward to returning one day soon, they have almost 1,000 animals from all the continents on earth. They sell food like chips, hot dogas, sodas, etc - good quality too!

The children loved the boo at the zoo theme! Was so excited to go see the animals and the park area! Super packed but so much fun!

My daughter and I love this Zoo. It's the perfect size for a quick day trip. It's a little smaller than other Zoos but very well kept.

This is one of my favorite places in the world…read more I have been to the Global Wildlife Center lots of times and it is consistently awesome. The animals are well taken care of and the staff is always fun and knowledgeable. Our tour guide (I think her name was Sonora?) was very nice and went out of her way to make sure we got to spend time with all of the animals we wanted to see. Couple of tips. First off, spring for the private or semi-private tour. You have more freedoms to roam around the park and it's definitely worth the extra cost. Second, no matter how much animal food you get, you will wish you had more. The highlight of the tour is feeding the animals and you will not want to disappoint them! Third, they have added some new attractions in the last few years that look awesome but we didn't get a chance to do them. There's a kangaroo walkabout and a capybara experience, both looked really cool. Finally, they are offering a "painting" by the animals. You add food coloring to a canvas and the animals "paint" with their mouths while they eat. It was absolutely worth it!

Warnings were given adequately about behavior of the animals and expectations of communication with the variety of animals. I might add there was easy access for Seniors, handicapped, and young children which was excellent! No steps to climb. Ramps were available to all riders. Live music was also pleasant and provided by a guitarist while waiting our turn to board. I'm sorry I have no names of the musician singing or the Southeastern students accompanying our excursion. All were incredibly entertaining. I recommend to pregnant moms also for a fun-filled Mother's Day next weekend. My two year old grandaughter was thrilled as were her daddy, mommy and MiMi!

It's an old institution, and is often working to improve their historic exhibits to better serve their animals as well as their visitors. When I recently visited, the sea lion exhibit was being improved. They still had a sea lion show, and I was there at just the right time to see one of their sea lions enjoying an enrichment event. The exhibits are designed to provide a spacious and natural environment for the animals, while allowing the visitors to observe them. In some cases, this allows several species to inhabit the same exhibit, which is a more natural setting. This is definitely a well planned and managed collection, and helps the visitors understand to need to conserve our natural environment. The zoo has a great Louisiana swamp exhibit, which also helps the visitors learn about the cultural history of Louisiana. There are native animals that few might see in nature, but which the visitors can learn about in this setting. These include Alligator Snapping Turtles, and Louisiana Black Bears. There's plenty of places for the visitors to eat, drink, and buy gifts. These are found in convenient locations throughout the park. It's a great experience and especially good for families.

We didn't really encounter anyone that worked there that smiled to say hello or goodbye. It was so nice how the zoo is thoughtfully set up for families. Lots of places to sit down and view the animals. The day that we went, because it was now closer to closing (we were there for about three hours) the animals must have been brought inside before 5pm. It made it difficult to see some of the wildcats because they were inside. The park staff does end up doing some pop up discussions. We attended one with the gorillas and it was interesting to hear about them. The giraffe feeding station has been closed due to construction. *** unsure when it will reopen but would like to share this as it was disappointing to arrive and discover this. The Asian elephants were interesting to see and learn the difference between the African and Asian elephants. I felt like the animals at this zoo and the habitats looked like they could use a little more upkeep. With it being spring and all, the leaves were in all their water habitats. We enjoyed some salt water taffy while we were walking and this was a nice treat.
