I've always used blue cab exclusively when in the Oak Park area, but for the first time am considering trying a different company. The guy who brought me home was an absolute gentleman and even helped with my bags. The guy who arrived before him had me unsure whether I should call the company or the police. Never in my life have I gotten a taxi driver who actually made me fear for my safety. I've experienced rude drivers, perverts, and a couple of yellers, but none who seemed so imbalanced that I feared I might be in actual harm until tonight. He would not tell me his name, but he was the guy driving car 215 around 2am on 6/7/2015. After I put my bags in the car and closed the door, he turns to ask me if we have a problem. Confused, I paused for a minute and said "excuse me? What do you mean?" Then he screamed quite loudly about me slamming the door. Confused still, I paused before aplogizing because his reaction was completely... crazy. It was the sort of scream you might give to someone who ran over your dog, punched your mom, slept with your fiancé and emailed a video to all of your friends. Not the more typical grumpy yell of average jerks. He asked where I was going and then went on about the door again. He was still yelling, saying just because it's not my car doesn't mean I should slam the doors, etc. I asked his name but he yelled more about the doors. I calmly told him again that I was sorry, wasn't trying to slam the doors, and that there is a more professional way to deal with such things. He continued on about the doors. I asked his name, but he was still screaming about the doors. I asked his name again, and he said nothing. So I said, okay I'm going to call the company. He said okay fine great you do that. He turned the radio down when he saw me on the phone, but pulled a uturn in the middle of the street when he heard me speaking about the issue. He said "fine, if you're gonna complain, I'll take you back then." Crazy driver whipping a uturn in the middle of the street at night? I was just hoping he was actually taking me back and not to some dark alley to strangle me. I was shaking by the time I got out of the car. Indeed, it was an experience that has made me considering just getting the car fixed. Lately, the service has been a bit slower, some of the dispatchers more confused, and some of the drivers more questionable. I was still hanging in there, but I don't think I can do it anymore. read more

I've made the mistake of using Blue Cab more than a few times. The last time was the final straw. They were 30 minutes later than they claimed they would be, and when I called asking where the cab was, the response was "we dont know." And that was that. No other explanation, no apology, no nothing. Eventually the cab DID show up (45 minutes after the fact), but I had already called off work as I was late and had no idea when the cab would actually arrive. Very bummed by that. The customer service blows, and the drivers that I've had really have used GPS to go everywhere, it seemed as if they had no idea where they would be going without that thing. Arent cab drivers supposed to be familiar with even home base local areas? I'd rather walk to my destination now. read more

RIDER BEWARE! Out of Chicago travel on taxi can be just that... taxing. Our driver had to make a detour and still charged us for that detour (2 miles?). During said detour, he grumbled, cussed, and made unprofessional remarks. I just prayed we'd get to where we needed to get, pronto without some exorbitant fee. I would actually give them no stars if that were an option. It goes like this: Friday night I decided to splurge and take a cab downtown. You see, my husband, an actor, is in a show at the Goodman and it is opening night. This is a big deal. This is important to me. So, I don't want to hassle with parking or traffic. I want to get there on time. Too bad for me, I called Blue Cab. Ordered for 7:10 p.m. When it wasn't there by 7:13 I called to double check. The dispatcher says he'll be there in 3 or 4 minutes. At that point I already knew something was wrong, since that would already make him nearly 10 minutes late, yet I was offered no apology for the late cab. At 7:25 p.m. there is still no cab. I jump in my car and pray to the gods of traffic and parking. I call to cancel the cab (as well as one I had scheduled for 4:15 a.m. Monday morning for a 6 a.m. flight). The dispatchers response? "He's not there yet?," she yells. "No, he's not," I say. "Well I'll be having a talk with him," she says. They nearly ruined a rare night for me. And, clearly, they have no control over their drivers. End of story? Avoid this place like the plague. P.S. I did make it to the Goodman with 10 minutes to spare. I paid $23 for parking, but it all worked out in the end. read more

A cab company is part of the service industry but the customer service they offer is terrible! Automated answering service is slow when all you want to do is order a cab. After you punch in the correct keys you have to wait for an operator to answer your call. When the operator answers your call they are hurried and half interested in what you're saying. Because they don't repeat the address after you say it, you have to double check with them that they got it right. Cab drivers are often angry and hard to understand. Cab drivers in the area are rude to other motorists. I've had several drivers cut me off or speed through stop signs. I've even had a driver pull up next to my car, in the opposite lane, to shout obscenities at me when he THOUGHT I took his turn at an intersection. Consistently late. I highly recommend Red Cab, the drivers speak English and a polite operator will answer your call. read more

I used to be so happy with Blue cab. I still have very positive things to say about their drivers. In three years of 3 times a month cab rides to/from O'Hare, I've only had one who wasn't courteous and professional. The last two weeks, however, I have missed two flights because of Blue Cab's dispatchers incompetence. Worst part? They try to blame the customer for their mistakes! Last week I used the app at 7 am.for a 7:30 pickup. Didn't get there until 8:30 and when I called dispatch they said they couldn't guarantee arrival within that time frame. So this week I called last night at 10 pm for a 5:30 am pickup. Nope. 5:30 came and went, and when my cab wasn't there I called dispatch, waited on hold for 15 minutes, and was asked by the operator if I had been told there was a delay! Uhhh, no. When I talked to you LAST NIGHT, you didn't tell me there was a delay of over 7 hours! Blue Cab, you are the worst, your app is awful (didn't recognize where O'Hare is), and your dispatchers' total inability to even apologize is such bad business. Blaming the customer for your failure isn't the way to go here. read more

I have lived in Chicago for almost 5 years and have yet to have a successful ride with Blue Cab. As in, either super long ETAs or inaccurate ETAs. Relying on them to get to an airport would be a dangerous game. I am writing a review, because I did have one good experience. Not good enough to raise my opinion of the company, but still something notable. My health insurance orders cars for their patients to get to appointments. I have used the service quite a bit and usually we get companies that specialize in medical transportation (companies with wheelchair lifts and space for nurses/case workers to sit). A blue cab was sent for me and I got a fabulous driver. I believe her name was Katya. She made great conversation. She was professional. She got me to my appointment! With Blue Cab, that's an achievement--actually picking up and dropping off the customer. It was a pity that her shift would be over by the end of my appointment. I had scheduled a cab to take me to airport 1 1/2 days in advance. I confirmed online and by phone. They were to pick me up at 3:00 a.m. At 2:50 a.m. they called and canceled. Had no options for a replacement in time to make my flight. Gave me phone numbers of other cab companies, who laughed when I called. Had to drive to airport and leave my car there given last minute cancellation and no time to arrange for long-trem parking, so I ended up paying $180.00 for parking for four days due to their cancellation. Can't trust a company that doesn't stand by their commitments with a replacement driver. Won't be using them again. read more

I booked Blue Cab before leaving Houston, I was told to call them when my flight arrived. I had already updated them what time my flight would arrive, but it's definitely wise to put this practice in place considering my flight was late. When I returned back to Chicago, I phoned them and little did I know my driver was readily waiting. I even received a confirmed text message. I didn't check any luggage, so I was sure to skidaddle straight outside once Blue Cab told me what door to be at. Prices are fairly reasonable, with it being set prices based on airport pick up/drop off. In order to take me back to Brookfield it was $30 plus the $3 mandatory fee. Not too bad, and I had the comfort knowing I was with a solid company and not something unknowingly scary like Uber or Lyft. The reason why I deducted a star was because of his crazy powerful cologne overdose. I was literally soaked in it once I returned home! read more

We took this cab to the airport for our honeymoon because they came recommended on Yelp. I now know that they didn't get enough reviews to make an informed decision. They arrived early, which bode well for them. When we got in the car, the driver asked if he should take Mannheim to the airport. Well, that IS one way to go from where we live, but not the fastest way to go. I thought it was odd that the driver didn't want to use the tollway, but I dismissed it. We told the driver how to go and we got to the airport in good shape. The car got to us in good time. When we got into the car, it was old and smelly. The trunk, which held our luggage, had no cover on the spare tire so that our suit cases had to sit right on the tire. On the way home, the driver asked the same question about using Mannheim. On the way home, I got the answer. The driver didn't even have IPass. He had to pay twice the normal amount for tolls. By taking Mannheim, he could avoid the tolls. The car's check engine light was on and the car didn't run smoothly. Suffice it to say, I won't be using this cab company again. read more

Our family has used Blue Cab since 2004, and we've been really pleased with their service. They're always on time, the dispatchers and drivers are polite and we've never had any problems. We contact Blue Cab by phone, and use them as transport to o'hare, midway, and locations around oak park and nearby suburbs. They've been equally reliable around the clock - from pre-dawn to catch an early flight, to late at night and everything in between. read more

Their driver OVERCHARGED me for my cab fare on New Year's Eve. Their emailed quote clearly stated that there is no additional tax, but he chose to add $3. When I questioned him, he told me that tax is never mentioned in a quote. Also, after being picked up at Midway, we had to stop so that another driver in cab #80 could complain to our driver about how screwed up their dispatching system is - and ours retorted with being called in from Hinsdale to pick us up. After a long travel day, I didn't need to listen to someone complain about having to provide our service! I've used them in the past and forgiven the previous issues, but this is the LAST time that I will use Blue Cab. There is too much competition for me to put up with their drivers' behavior, and the company's apparent lack of leadership. read more

Let me start by saying, in my opinion, Blue Cab has done the utmost to deserve their 1.5 star rating (average). However, if I could rate lower than 1 star I'm thinking I would. I've had maybe a 15% success rate with being on time. I've never had too much of a problem with the dispatch, although sometimes the dispatcher doesn't seem to be good at communicating with the costumer. Every time I call back due to tardiness, I get someone new. I've had them even hang up on me. From firsthand experiences I feel the drivers might be the worst part of this company. I had a driver be about 45 minutes late and after NUMEROUS calls to the dispatcher he finally came speeding down Cermak (near the Target) and passed us, skidded a bit, put it in reverse and still made us walk some to get to him. He then turned out to be bitter as f**k. That's just ONE experience. Today we called for a cab at 2:45PM and after being told it will be here in 15-25 minutes, we waited... and waited... AND WAITED! Called them back a few times and kept being told a different reason/excuse as to why we had to continue waiting. We got the automated "Your blue cab is here" message twice and still nothing. We waited until 3:50PM and finally just gave up on it. If I were a betting man, I'd certainly bet AGAINST Blue Cab. They need a miracle to get better. read more

I use Blue Cab several times a year to go to the airport. I just call the dispatcher when I'm ready to go - their service is so fast that the cabbie is usually at my door looking around for me before I can even schlepp my bags down the stairs! They seem to hire a motley crew of vets, recent immigrants, & down on their luck professionals - all of their drivers are bright & amiable - and, if you're willing to listen, they'll entertain you with their stories (or, if you'd rather pretend that you're someone important, they'll let you play on your Blackberry in silence too)! The cabs themselves are standard city fare - a bit dogeared, but they'll get you to where you're going. read more

I need a pick-up from the airport (Midway)in about 16 hours from right now. I booked online earlier today (30 hours prior to pick-up) and after filling out the online form the website indicated I'd immediately receive an email confirming my pick-up. Didn't get the email immediately so I sent an email to them (via the "contact" link on their website) and as of now have not gotten any response. I went online and booked a another pick-up moments ago...still no confirmation email. If a cab actually shows up I'll update this review but as of right now, not happy with the service. I will just call in the morning but the whole point of booking online is...well...to book online. UPDATE: I did get an email response the day of my pickup - about a day after I signed up online. Great. Now I know I have a cab and the number to call. Plane landed on time but lost my luggage...so even after waiting an extra hour, my cab still was able to get me, woo hoo! The online price estimation from Midway to Oak Park was $22. Well...the chatty cabbie never turned on his machine to book the fare. When I arrived at my house I asked what I owed him...he said, "mmm....27". Like he made it up. I was so happy to finally be home (stressed about the luggage lost and sick of him talking the whole time) I paid it. And even an extra $5. But after he pulled away...I realized I should have just giving him the $27. That would have been good with the tip because I seriously doubt his fare was even on the books. I'm happy the cabbie showed up...just not thrilled with the complicated booking/confirmation and question whether or not the company actually got the fare or if the cabbie pocketed it. The booking started with a rude dispatch woman who asked for no contact information and did not give us a confirmation #. Called back and she was still rude. After asking for price twice she said $25 for destination. Taxi arrived 5 minutes early so that was good. It was dirty and smelled bad. He also drove with windows down. The low gas indicator was on the entire drive. When we got to airport they asked for $28. Called dispatch again and they said it's a $3 airport surcharge and I can see rates in window. They have the price published on their site and it clearly says no hidden fees. Use Lyft! read more

Now, they've gotten worse. Right when they were getting better, they got worse. The same thing, "it'll be there in 10-15" and it ends up being almost an hour. I take this cab everyday to work. I've been late the past three times out of two this week. I call them 2 hours before work, and they still somehow end up not having a can for me... At 6am they're not that busy. I was not a passenger. I was a driver in Chicago traffic and Cab 111 plate 32930 TX on 11/14 at 1430 threatened me, in his words, "I will tear up your car" as he was cutting in and out of traffic. Then proceeded to tell me he didn't care if he wrecked the taxi because it wasn't his. I know taxi drivers do not have the best reputation, but to threaten other drivers is preposterous. read more

Awful! Use this company at your own risk. I ordered a cab the day before to pick me up at 5am for a 7am flight from O'Hare for a work trip. The cab did not show up. I called the company at 5:10 to inquire about the cab and was told it would be another 15-20 minutes. I was also told that just because I ordered a cab for 5am, there was no guarantee it would there at 5am. Fortunately, I was able to grab an Uber. If I would have waited around, I would have missed my flight. So unprofessional. I am done with this company. read more

I use blue cab all the time, service is mostly reliable, drivers friendly, clean cars. I booked online before boarding my flight from Phoenix to Chicago. I call upon landing, get put on hold for 10 minutes, then told they can't find the reservation and the nearest cab is 15 minutes away and will call me back with the cab#. They call back, I miss the call. The dispatcher leaves me a message that she's forgotten the terminal #, asks me to call back. I call back, get the hold music, Meanwhile, instead of answering my call, they call me 3 times while I'm on hold. I finally get another dispatcher, give her my terminal info. Then the 1st dispatcher calls again asking if I still need a cab, WTF. I guess internal communication doesn't work. I end up standing, waiting for a cab for nearly an hour. I'm going to think twice before I use them again for my nearly weekly airport trips. read more

Talked to them 6 times and each time they said the driver would arrive in 5 minutes. This has happened more than once and I will never use them again. I was a loyal customer for years and gave up. OK - recently I HAD to use a cab to go back and forth to the hospital for a test that required me not to drive. So I hunkered down and prepared to take a cab - my experience with most cab rides have usually been less than desirable. Fortunately, it was just a one mile trip. But the bottom line here - three rides - one came in 80 cents less than the other two (which was the only one of the three that were from the hospital, so there was a slight difference in the route). Two of the three drivers were pretty nice and the third one was OK - nothing bad. All 3 cabs were pretty clean. And - most importantly, they were all on time. Dispatch operators were good too. I would have expected to write a one or two star review after this experience, but I can't. They did well. read more

Last week, we called Blue Cab for a taxi to take us to Midway Airport. Everything was fine, until I got out of the cab and realized at the ticket counter that I left my hat in the cab. My wife called the office to tell them what happened. They contacted the driver and he said he had it in his cab. He took it to the office. They held on to it until we returned home about five days later. I picked up my hat in good condition. I appreciate that kind of service. We have always called Blue Cab whenever we need to go to or from the airports. We will continue to do so in the future. read more

They must not want to make any money. The android app stinks. The dispatchers are not accommodating. Real world example: I'm on a train. I know exactly when it will arrive at my stop. I can't use the app, because it rejects my log in and won't send me a password reset. I call the dispatcher and tell her when I will arrive, and she says she can't make an advance reservation and that I should call when I get there. When the app works, you *can* make an advance reservation, but the app isn't working. I tell the dispatcher they will no longer get my business, and she says that's OK with her. BTW, I wouldn't order a cab under ordinary circumstances. It's only a half mile from the station to my house. However, it's 10°F with a wind chill of -2°F, and the bus has stopped running, and I have a heavy load of groceries. So, seriously, screw Blue Cab. read more
