I would give zero stars if possible. I ordered a cab a week prior to flying out of O'Hare for a ride to the airport at 3:00 a.m. on March 13, 2022. Called the day before to confirm and was told that the cab was scheduled. At 3 a.m. on March 13, I called dispatch and asked if the cab was still coming because I was told that I would receive a call when the driver was on the way, but the pickup time had come and gone -- no call. The attendant assured me he was on the way and another 25 minutes passed -- no cab. I called back and she said that the driver's car had broken down and no one would be coming to pick me up after all. I asked if Blue Cab could send another driver and she said no. I finally called Lyft and they got me to the airport with literal minutes to spare before missing my flight. I was the last passenger to board the plane, despite the fact that I had arranged for a cab to pick me up and get me O'Hare 1.5 hours before takeoff. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. The all-time WORST experience I have ever had with a cab company. I cannot imagine a company doing a poorer job of serving a customer. No one even called to follow up or apologize. Horrible way to start a trip. Horrible experience all around! read more

Would give this ZERO stars! The manager, Joyce seems to lack experience in customer service or maybe just typical human interaction all together! Got in a can that was late to pick me up! Called to ask the ETA of my Cab and the dispatcher told me 3 minutes or less. Fast forward 10 min.. Still nothing so I call again. They transfer me to the "Manager." I ask without searing or raising my voice where my cab was. I complain about how every time I use this service, they are late and why that is... She says if I would stop being rude she would explain to me.. Like what's to explain why the cabs are always late? I tell her, and that's why Uber and Lyft are taking over. She hangs up. I call back. I ask why she hung up and where my cab is she tells me to "shut up" so she can tell me then hangs up! By far the rudest. Totally trash establishment. read more

Blue cab has more than lived up to a zero star rating, not because they are utterly horrible, but because they have a pathological inability to be consistent. I've used their service since beginning a new job in the Berwyn area because I don't have a car and the Pace bus service is spotty. In this time, I've experienced truly great service with prompt and friendly drivers, good dispatchers, and accurate wait times. But, more often than not, I've experienced long wait times, drivers texting while driving and even trying to strike up WHOLLY inappropriate conversations, rude telephone service operators, and worst of all HORRIBLE customer service when I have a complaint. Given that it's a family owned business, it's unlikely to change unless they lose a great deal of business. I won't be supporting them and I honestly hope that the good drivers that I had the pleasure of riding with will find jobs with other cab companies. read more

The inspiration for this review does not come from an experience inside the cab... but rather from the Trader Joe's parking lot. This afternoon, while waiting to park in the Trader Joe's parking lot, I came in contact with one wild driver. This driver was apparently waiting to park in one of the parking spots when I pulled up behind her. She drove past one of the open spots and stopped--no blinker to signal her thoughts to other drivers so I assumed she was waiting for a closer spot as someone was about to pull out on the left. Therefore, I pulled into the spot she passed up on the right. I get out of my car and the woman had by then backed up her vehicle to my location and she began screaming obscenities at me (to spare you, I will not repeat what came out of her mouth) . I told her I wasn't aware that she wanted to back into that spot. She put her car in drive and slammed her foot down on the gas and drove directly at me as if she intended to hit me. I ran behind a car in the parking lot to protect myself. She slammed on the breaks, just barely missing the car. I then ran into the store--scared to death. This driver should NOT be on the road. I suspect that she was either under the influence and/or has serious anger issues that need to be addressed before she is behind the wheel serving others and representing any company. I have emailed a formal complaint to Blue Cab and I am waiting to hear back to see how this situation is handled. I'll keep you yelpers posted! But in the meantime, be safe and use Red Cab! read more

Called for a taxi at 7:15 am for an 8 am pick up. Was told "no problem" and I even clarified that punctuality was necessary as I had a flight to catch. 8:05 no can, no call. I called and was told the cab was on the way. 8:15 still no cab and had I not called there was no intention by the company to give me a status so I could otherwise plan. Finally at 8:17 cab arrived. Weather delay was the excuse. It is currently sunny and blue skies...what???? Never using them again and strongly recommend that to look elsewhere too. To make matters worse, when I expressed my anger and frustration to the driver, he cursed me in another language...nice service, cursing a pregnant woman who clearly needed the time they wasted. read more

We called ahead and got a cab to pick us up for our recent trip. Well the cab was on time, but the driver made the ride the most obnoxious I have ever experienced. We were given a lecture/sales pitch about how we needed to call ahead and arrange Blue/Village Cab to pick us up at the airport otherwise the regular city cab drivers would hassle us relentlessly. Well not only did the guy not make this pre-reserving of the cab on the return trip even sound remotely easy, he talked down to us like we were children about this for at least 20 minutes. What happened to taking a hint that we were not interested in talking... hmm? That and his cab smelled mildy of urine. Will NOT be calling on this cab company again. read more

I've had some great individual drivers at Blue Cab. But overall, customer service is very poor at Blue Cab. They left me high and dry at O'Hare airport once at a time when getting a cab from there was difficult. I called later to complain and basically got a "shrug." And safety has also been an issue -- one driver hit the gas and ran after a red light changed (at Harlem and Harrison) and narrowly missed being hit by oncoming traffic. Another slammed on the brakes as we were departing our stop and before I had my seat belt on, causing me to slam into the back of his seat. All in all, I was OK. But I had to ask myself -- why did I give Blue Cab so many chances? Red Cab isn't the most stellar (again, depends on the driver) -- but they're much better overall. read more

Called for a cab, waited forever then called the company again. Company stated that the driver reported a no show. WTF, we were there and they had our cell number and never attempted to contact us. I wanted to catch a cab yesterday, but the way the customer service agent treated me, you would think they did not want service. I called them at 7:50 AM to ask for a cab to pick me up at 8:05 AM at Harlem and South Blvd in Forest Park. She asked me if I was on a train, and when I said yes, she said that they do not take requests from customers on trains and that I had to call them once I reached my destination. I tried calling back five minutes later, and I asked for a taxi to pick me up in 10 minutes. Even though there are always cabs patrolling the area around Harlem and South Blvd., she said that she could not do that because their clocks went by 15 minutes. I tried explaining that I was in a hurry and that I did not want to wait in the freezing cold, but she would not listen. I called Yellow Cab, but they did not send the taxi at the time I requested. Luckily, a cab from the People's Cab Company was in the area. When I told the driver what happened, he gave me his card and assured me that the customer was always right. I realize that the Blue/Village Cab Co.'s concern was that there might be a delay on the train, but tough! What if I were in someone's car (who could not take me far) and was stuck in traffic? A company that really wants to have customers and make money will make risks. I guess this cab company does not want my business, so they won't get anymore of it. read more

My regular cab company got me stranded at the Vet with my cat in a carrier. They cancelled my online order and said they were out of cars and that I should call back in 1 hour. I called Blue Cab with trepidation because of the bad yelp score but was pleasantly surprised. The driver, Mr Assaf was very courteous. When he took a wrong turn accidentally, he reset the meter so that I would not be charged for the extra time driving. Also he refused to take a tip because the slight delay his detour had caused. I called the night before for a 5:30am pick-up in downtown Oak Park to Midway. Setting up the car wasn't a problem. They answered the phone quickly and got all my information. I was calling from my office phone (not available at my apartment) and instructed the reservation agent taking my details to have the driver call my cell phone (which I then gave) when the car arrives in the morning. I live in an apartment building and I don't face the street where I could see the car. Simple enough. The next morning I never received a call on my cell-phone; and I just walked down to the street to check to see if the car was there. The cab was there and the driver was waiting for me (which I had been 10min past the pick-up time while I was waiting for a call on my phone). He had called my work phone and left 3 messages and never had received my cell number to call. Luckily, I caught him right before he gave up on me... this could have been disastrous. I used this cab company for rides to and from the airport for about the first 9 months I lived in Chicago. They were constantly late to scheduled airport pick ups and drop offs. Their cabs were sub par, and the rate to and from the airport was always different on a flat charge. I stopped using them when they called me at the airport to ensure I had arrived. I said I had and that I was walking out the door. After about 10 minutes of waiting I called back, and they stated they had no record of my reservation. Really? At 7:05a I called in to see what was the eta and dispatch said that they had not found me a ride yet, I called back 5 times before they finally sent me a taxi at 8a. NEVER AGAIN. After moving to Forest Park a year ago, my wife and I have frequently used Blue Cab to get to/from O'Hare. Two nights ago we were lied to, hung up on, and stranded at the airport for over an hour. We made a reservation for a 10:15pm pick at O'Hare the day before our flight was to arrive. We were connecting through Houston and updated Blue Cab when we arrived at the Houston Airport confirming that our flight was on time and confirming that a taxi would be at O'Hare when we landed. Our flight was on time. We gathered our things and headed to exit 1G, the typical meeting spot for prearranged taxis. At 10:15 there was no sign of Blue Cab. We decided to take turns using the restroom assuming the cab was a little late due to the weather. One of us stayed by the exit incase the cab arrived. At 10:35, we called Blue Cab to find out where our cab was. The dispatcher told us that all cabs were called back from O'Hare because of delayed flights. WHAT?!?!?! I explained that I made a reservation the previous day, and confirmed that my flight was on time that day. She informed me that they had cabs in the area, and that one would pick me up in about 20 minutes. At 11:00, we begin to get impatient. We try contacting Blue Cab and can clearly hear someone pickup and then immediately hang up on us. It's worth noting that Blue Cab has caller ID and knows our number. They use this to save our information for easier pickups/drop offs. At 11:05, we finally get through after calling from a different phone number. (suspicious) We were told that our driver was arriving at the airport and that we should head out to the center median. We wait outside in the cold for 20 minutes before our driver arrives. (It should not take 20 minutes to get to Terminal 1 from the entrance). He doesn't get out to help with luggage, and we notice that he is dressed in pajamas and looks like he just woke up. Its 11:25. We've been waiting for an hour and ten minutes. We're cold. We're angry. We explain to him that our original reservation was for 10:15 and that we were expecting him to arrive around 10:55. He tells us that he got a call at 10:40 and that he was in Oak Park!!!!! Clearly not "in the area" like the dispatcher said. I called Blue Cab yesterday to file a formal complaint. I left a voicemail with a manager that has not been returned. I'm not even the least bit surprised. There are many options for getting to/from the airport from the western suburbs (Red Cab, 303 Taxi, American Coach, etc.) They all offer the same rates as Blue Cab and some even have limo service for a few dollars more. Or there's always the ultra reliable Uber. We will no longer be using Blue Cab, and you shouldn't either. You've been warned. read more

My wife and I were visiting our son and daughter-in-law in Forest Park, and needed to get a cab to O'Hare Monday morning, September 9/13. When I checked online reviews, I was leery of Blue Cabs because of so many bad reviews. However, I took my son's advice, and called Blue Cab. He said they had always been good for him. "In a nutshell", there was no room for improvement. The cab arrived within ten minutes at 8:30 am, as promised. The driver was well-groomed, cheerful and courteous. He loaded our suitcases into the trunk of the van, and opened and closed the door for us. The cab was clean and tidy. The driver drove carefully and safely. We arrived at the airport within thirty minutes, and paid the flat fee posted on the window. With tip, $35. I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews of Blue Cabs. Maybe they turned over a new leaf. Maybe the reviews were posted by a competitor. In any case, our experience was excellent. We will continue to use Blue Cabs whenever we visit Chicago. read more

I have tried to frequent Blue Cab when I need a cab to the airport or around town for me or my family. Those experiences have had varied results but nothing I could not live with until now. We have an exchange student from China living with us and she needed to go to an event at Lyons Township High School in La Grange. We could not take her so I called Blue Cab. When I called I gave the dispatcher the address so there would be no mistake. I also had our exchange student give the driver the address when he arrived. The driver proceeded to take her to the town of Lyons and then figured out where he should be going instead of going directly to the high school. The result was that she was late to her event and was over charged for the ride due to the detour to the town of Lyons. I called the dispatcher when I learned of this and got a call back 3 days later by the owner/manager. He apologized, said the driver would be reprimanded and our exchange student would be reimbursed. He said he would follow up with me in a couple of days. That was 3 months ago. There still has not been a refund to the exchange student. I have tried to call the owner on several occasions. Each time I have left a message that has not been returned. We will never use Blue Cab again. I would walk before thinking to call this outfit. In my eye they blatantly took advantage of a young girl from another country for a few bucks.....Shameful. read more

Compared to other cab companies, I must admit, they are pretty darn nice. I've used them several times and I'm always impressed. I've had some pretty bad run-ins with cab drivers over the years--my favorite angry cab driver being a guy who told me I was the biggest (female dog) he'd ever met and that he didn't want my dirty money; it was his fault, he got us lost. I used Blue Cab to go to O'Hare drivers were ok except morning driver was late due to dispatch then wasn't quite sure how to get to the airport. She was unable to run more than one card, didn't know how. I had to use cash. Second driver was at midnight, again dispatch said 35-40 minutes 1 hr+ my taxi showed up. The cab was not clean, old. It seems the driver had trouble keeping it going as he would put it in neutral and fun it, when coming up to a green light he would slow going maybe 5 miles of less. He was not sure if driving on First Ave through Riverside. He was unable to run my Blue Can Card even though it had money on it and wanted cash. Luckily I had another full cab, but how do i tell what cards have any money left on them? read more

I don't have problems being picked up from my house, it's anytime I get picked up at O'Hare that I get the runaround. I've waited over 30 minutes ~ always with a reservation ~ my longest wait being 50 min. Some drivers seem shady, not the best groomed drivers either, apparently there's no dress code or standard for these guys. Cabs are not in the best condition, at times, I can't even type on my phone, on occasion I get lucky and get a clean smooth riding cab and driver but it's very rare. If you choose Blue Cab, you better be up for any conversation too...I've learned to make calls to not to bothered with the conversations because they are not your standard hi, how are you; more along the lines of what nationality are you (NOYB), are you married (NOYB), one guy talked about sex, another picked up his friend on the way and yet another driver picked up his food. If anyone knows a better cab company to call in the Oak Park area, please post! I waited posting, hoping to give Blue Cab a better review, I would not recommend anyone use this service, I'd rather pay triple the price to have a more professional service. After my last trip, I am done with Blue Cab, if you care about your safety, don't use them. read more

I've used them several times as they are one of the few cab companies who can pick you up from Oak Park within 5-10 minutes. The good: - Generally punctual - Most cabbies are friendly or silent...every once in awhile, you get someone who's great - Gets you where you want to go The bad: - A LOT of their cabbies rely more on GPS than sense (see below) - Some cabbies are surlier than others - The operator can sometimes be rude I often can tell which cabbies rely on GPS because they park a block away from my actual location because their GPS tells them to. One guy followed his GPS head on into oncoming traffic. He made a left turn onto Garfield right in front of the "no left turn sign" not noticing that his actual turn was after the median. Awesome. I've also used Red Cab, but they have fewer drivers and can take longer on short notice. read more

Long time Blue Cab user. Forest Parker that lives virtually around the corner. I've spent years avoiding using Uber and others on the matter of principle, but you've finally forced me to adopt a new one. I spent 30 minutes waiting for a cab, in the rain, to make an appointment. One which I was incredibly late for because each time I called, the cab was "x minutes away". (first 10 minutes, then 2 minutes, then 4 minutes?). I finally gave up and took the CTA and bus to get where I needed to go. You managed to successfully turn what should have been a 10 minutes trip into an hour for me. So... good job? My new principle is never take Blue Cab again. Never suggest to anybody I have visiting ever take Blue Cab, and recommend Uber or Lyft to them instead, and to no longer think I'm doing the right thing by supporting a local business if it's as crappy as yours. Enjoy your inevitable march to irrelevance. I'll still be living around the corner most likely, and will enjoy seeing your doors close for the last time, a victim of your own incompetence. read more

Blue Cab use to be my cab of choice, but too many consistent insidents have occurred over the last 12 months. Cab drivers refusing to offer their service if you are using a credit card. I was stranded by the green line at the Harlem and South Street location. Three of the drivers refused to offer service because i told them that i had a credit card. I booked our cab for 5.15pm for an airport run. At 5.25pm it wasn't there so I called and they said he was on his way. At 5.45pm he still wasn't there so I had to go to my neighbors house to ask for a ride. Thank god I have good neighbors! We got a call at 5.56pm to tell us the cab was there. My husband said it was unacceptable to be so late for an airport pick up, the lady on the phone had the cheek to say "we should leave ourselves plenty of time as things will go wrong"!!! I called at 5:30 pm for a ride to the airport at 6 pm at the end of a holiday weekend. The cab was a few minutes early, clean and the driver was friendly. Actually, he was a huge flirt, which provided me some good laughs on my ride. We arrived at the airport in good time despite being rush hour and the price was reasonable. It will use Blue Cab again next time I am in Chicago. read more

A lot of the cabs are dirty and have no shocks (so it's like riding on a Tilt-o-Whirl-- bumpy) or no air-conditioning, or all of the above, and some of the drivers smell bad. Other than that, it's great... read more

Two stars only because cabs to the airport are usually on time and easy to schedule. Locally, they're great. Unfortunately, when I schedule cabs from the airports, they never show or take over 30 minutes. The dispatchers regularly tell me that the driver didn't see me, yet I'm standing with the other riders waiting to travel to the suburbs. I want to use Blue Cab because it's a local company, but I find it frustrating having to wait a long time when all I want to do is get home. I wish I could give a better rating, but I won't because this has happened all too often. read more

Absolutely NO STARS WHATSOEVER! AND we can rate people's bad experiences as "FUNNY"?!?!?!?! There's nothing FUNNY about a prearranged pickup for 5 p.m. and being told at 4:20, "The cab is on its way!". My Dr's office closed at 5. I told them at that time, my cell phone number. My insurance company and my case manager called them and gave my cell phone number but they came to pick me up In Chicago and called my home phone in a suburb! I kept calling the dispatcher and she said she gave them my cell #, and they would call me. Every time I called, it was the same old story, "They're on their way!" I had no where to sit down, had to stand in the hot sun, and I stood there for 3 hrs! There was no place to sit. I am a senior and am not supposed to be out in the heat for very long and shouldn't be standing w.o. a walker! I was told when I was dropped off, to call when I was ready, which was 4:00 sharp! I didn't get home until around 8:30! I took note of all the cabs that DID go by, every cab company but Blue Cab!!! 5 Thumbs down!!!! Nine times out of 10, I SCHEDULE a can well in advance simply because I HAVE to be somewhere and they show up 15, 20 or more minutes late. Coming home from a business trip, reserved a cab ahead of time, called when I landed, was told to expect cab in 5-10 min, waited, called dispatch again, was given attitude, waited some more, called again, was on hold for 9 minutes, cab shows after 45 min, call dispatch again to share my frustration and let them know I'm done with Blue Cab, was told "cabs never come to o'hare within he stated time"! Blue Cab is the worst!! I have had to wait up to 5 hours for them to pick me from my dr appts, and hospital appts. They come late, after they say to be ready an hour to an hour and a half. My insurance company has a contract with them, so I have to use them. I have missed two post surgery appts within the last 2 weeks. I had a rotator cuff surgery in April, and they still can't get me to the Dr. They're running so late that I have to reschedule or they just never show up. The 2nd surgery, same thing. I had to reschedule, until Jul 3rd. I have never dealt such an incompetent company in my life. The drivers themselves have actually told me, they pick the rides they'll make actual money with, they don't make money with contract fares, so they leave us last. I have filed grievances with County Care to no avail. As I explained to all parties involved, I worked all my life, I'm disabled now and the treatment I'm receiving from them is an insult. I have to say, they're all about money. If they signed a contract and know how much money they will be making when taking customers from County Care, they should honor it. So with all this being said, BLUE CAB IS INCOMPETENT! They don't even deserve a star!! read more
