Brilliant friendly service, quality work, speedy repairs. After having disastrous repairs at other…read morelocal shops, I decided to give Source a go. I didn't use them sooner, as it is such a smart looking shop that I thought they would be much more expensive that the cheap looking places, but it isn't and the service and quality of parts and labour is different class. I'd had my iPhone 5s screen replaced at a cheap shop and it broke within days. I kept taking it back, but it never lasted more than three days. He even replaced it again, but that one just broke. They charged £35, but I found out they are using the cheapest possible screens that are £10 from China, and are rubbish. Source charged £45, but it is a great quality screen, it took them 30 minutes and I've not had any trouble in the month since fitting. I know that's just a month, but you can just tell that it is repaired properly with a quality screen and it will last. I then spilt something on my Samsung RV711 laptop keyboard and completely shorted it out. Nothing was working. They usually charge far less for a keyboard replacement, but on the Samsung the keyboard, palm rest and entire top of the base needs replacing. The cheapest I found a second hand one on eBay was £45 , new ones far more. I called around, and some shops wouldn't do it, and one central one quoted £99, just for the labour, and another quoted 3 weeks turnaround. Source ordered the part for next day delivery and then only took one hour to complete the repair. Total cost for the brand new part and labour £79. They said most keyboard repairs are £35, but this is the entire top due to the Samsung design, which is the palm rest, keyboard, tracking pad and right and left mouse buttons. They even fixed my left mouse button for no extra cost. My computer is now working perfectly. I'm absolutely delighted with Source Electronics and won't go anywhere else again. I highly recommend them. They are polite, friendly, very professional and the quality of the entire experience is 5 STARS! TIPS: 1. They open at 9.30am and told me this is the best time to drop off a repair as they have an additional staff ember in the morning and can do the job straight away. 2. Call first to ask if they have the part in stock, if not they will order it and call you when it gets in. My part for the Samsung took 24 hours to arrive. They had the iPhone 5s screen in stock. 3. Calling in advance you can also book in your repair, so you know they can do it while you wait on an iPhone. Plenty of great coffee shops near by. 3. They can also fit phone screen protectors. Even the most careful of us can scratch the screen of our phones, and if you have a screen protector it is that getting scratched instead. When you come to sell the phone take it off and the screen will be as new. The protector will pay for itself many times over through the resale value of a perfect screen. Scratched screens really effect sell on value.

Had assumed that any place so close to the town centre would rip me off, and tried a few before this one that were almost certainly 'upselling' the amount of repair work I needed to get done. For context - my phone screen had become slightly dislodged (not broken in any way). Apple would only offer £90 for a screen replacement. Other shops would only offer £40-70 for replacement too. Cables and chips told me that this was a possibility, but they would look at the level of internal damage and see if this was necessary, talking me through the whole thing. So I let them take a look. They concluded (as I had suspected myself) that nothing was broken and the screen just needed to be glued back into place - it seems that when the gadget was refurbished it got too little glue. They did this very quickly, and charged me £5 for it!! Not only this, they also carefully packed my phone, looked after it for me, and put it on charge while the new glued dried. I left with a robust, fully charged phone, and my wallet not much lighter. It's a few weeks later now and my phone is still working like new, so I'm certain I made the right choice - the other shops really were just scaremongering to get more money out of me. That, or they didn't have the confidence or expertise to do anything other than a standard screen replacement, never mind what was best for the customer. I've been recommending this place to people all over and frankly wouldn't take my phone anywhere else now. I also bought a screen protector there as a bit of a thank you, and the lady behind the counter cleaned my phone and applied it for me there and then, all the while giving me tips about how to do it myself in case I needed to apply one in future. All in all a really excellent experience, especially compared to the rest of the pack. Feels like getting the mates' rates even if you've never met them before. Absolutely recommend.

I visited two storerooms for PC World, amongst some other businesses. My mind had boggled from too many online reviews and not enough thoughts of my own. I wanted to see some tablets, live in action. Unfortunately, PC World couldn't do that for me. Empty stands, and the majority of those on display, not working. Those that were, couldn't connect to the internet. At first, I thought that was reasonable, until I went to Carphone Warehouse - which held informational displays, and all of the tablets I looked at not only worked, but I could have a right old play on it. Having grown more and more frustrated running from store to store without really being able to make much of a decision on what to buy, I didn't find my salvation in a store that by its name, I expected to provide. PC World stores look dated, and the company isn't keeping up with its competitors (likewise for it's identical twin, Curry's - I mean, honestly, why run two separate businesses, especially with they are in the same retail park, with the same stock and same strategy?) - better offers at Comet, better displays at Carphone Warehouse - and that's just in a shopping centre. Go online, and PC Worlds offerings grow more and more meagre. It would be useful if stores such as PCW could offer more, but it doesn't - perhaps it should be named PC Village... that would be more accurate.

I will not turn this in to a full blown rant but lets just say spent a bit of money here to find basic things missing and a laptop with dead pixels. which I took back to have them say we normally don't take back items if its only one or to dead pixels I just brought the thing a hour ago they gave me another one with I asked them to test in store (the didn't because it against store policy) Guess what got the thing home MORE dead pixel. I was more than upset by then. Went back for the 3rd time and DEMANDED a new one and that the check the thing in-store, which they agreed too (does not take much to break there polices does it!!!) Called a compliances line and didn't get very far. Most of the staff did not seem to cry there where one or two that should what almost looks like concern. I can safely say I will never buy from this store again. I have given it 2 Stars because I will use the store to check products out before looking for them else where on line. I write this mainly as I warning they seem to care when they are piling you trolley high with things you don't need. BUT at the end of the day after the money is in the till the hints of after care you would naturally expect VANISH.

The prices here are generally pretty competitive and you will be likely to struggle to find somewhere else that can match both its range of products and prices - I certainly haven't come across such a place. In addition you get very good customer service and the staff know what they are talking about. It's well worth a visit especially if you have any repairs that need doing. I'm no expert on computers, but this does seem to be a good shop.

I don't know enough about the subject matter to know if I'm being done over or not. They can say whatever they want and my only choice is to nod and smile and try to convey the illusion that I know a little and I understand the nonsense they're throwing at me...! So I think something can be said for a business that has the honesty to tell you when you're about to waste your money. After my lappie froze up on me, I visited a few repair shops to gauge prices and ideas of what the problem could be. The first place said it could be one of three problems... the uncertainty and lack of confidence left me wonting. The second place clearly didn't have a clue as they recommended a complete reboot. Meaning I would lose every file and program from said laptop and have to reinstall everything from scratch (I imagine their motto would be 'if in doubt... reboot!'). Enter DATA Computer Services. After a short discussion about the problem, they offered to take the laptop overnight and have a tinker, free of charge. After that they would call me with their findings and quote me a fix price. When they called, the problem had been nothing more than a driver that needed re-installed and a hard drive clean up. And shop #2 wanted to reboot the whole system...! Wow. So for £40 my lappie is back to his best, and working even faster after the clean up. When I enquired about increasing the hard drive space (getting back to my point!) the sociable staff, rather than quote me a price and offer a turnaround time, instead offered free advice on how to maximise the space I already have, citing an increase as a bad investment. Very impressive. Worth going a little out your way for honest and efficient service.

He had me back up and running and gave valuable advice to prevent the problem happening again. First class service, delivered in a knowledgeable and friendly manner.... and to cap it all, a very reasonable fee. The only criticism I have is for Simply Fix It's head office. I wrote to them complimenting them on their Dalkeith operation but never received an acknowledgement. This lead me to think that Mack was not given credit for his excellent service. For this reason, I can not give them the full 5 star rating.
