I recently tried Blue Fin around 3:30pm for a late lunch. It wasn't overly busy when we arrived, but it was definitely starting to pick up. The dining room has a nice vibe -- modern, clean, and comfortable. It feels like a good spot for a casual date or catching up with friends. That said, the noise level builds quickly. Everyone was chatting, and you could easily overhear conversations without even trying. Service was genuinely great. Our server checked in consistently for water refills, cleared plates quickly, and asked if we needed anything -- but never felt overbearing. That balance is appreciated and made the experience smoother. One thing worth noting: some menu prices are higher than you might expect, especially since Google lists the average around $20-$30 per person. For some of the higher-priced items, photos on the menu would really help set expectations. The portions do help justify the entrée pricing somewhat, but the overall bill -- $110 for a late lunch for two -- was honestly higher than expected. We started with the spicy edamame. To make it spicy was a $2 upcharge, which felt unnecessary -- most places offer regular, sea salt, or spicy at the base price. That rubbed me the wrong way. For sushi, we ordered two pieces of unagi and two pieces of wagyu. The fish/meat to rice ratio was generous (see picture). The unagi sushi is something a sushi chef can't really mess up -- solid and as expected. The wagyu sushi, however, had a very intense char on top and was extremely fatty. Depending on your preference, that could be a plus or a bit overpowering. The spicy beef rice bowl was a very large portion -- honestly enough to split between two people. The onions had a nice crunch and weren't soggy, which I appreciated. The beef is shaved rather than sliced, and you can't choose how it's cooked. The spice level was faint, should have spice level indicators on items like this. I did feel like the dish was missing another vegetable element that could have elevated it. The chicken curry bento box came with a lot: two tempura shrimp, two deep-fried pork gyoza, one sweet potato tempura, sticky rice, and the curry chicken. The chicken was very tender. The curry had that strong, classic curry aroma and was well balanced in flavor. Nothing to rave about. Both meals came with miso soup and salad. The salad dressing wasn't for me; I prefer something tangy, and this one tasted more like pan juices from cooked meat. For dessert, we tried the vanilla crepe cake. It honestly tasted like tiramisu. If they offered a matcha version, that might have set it apart more. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, I'm glad we tried it and had the experience. The service and portion sizes stood out positively. However, for the price point, it's not a "must-return" spot for me, and not somewhere I'd immediately recommend off the top of my head when people ask. read more

Stopped by for lunch around 3:20. Quickly seated and service was efficient. After looking at the menu, everything was priced much higher than I'm used to, but you can tell that it's a luxurious ambiance. Staff were nice and I noticed that all the waitstaff worked together with different people checking in on us and delivering/clearing dishes. Started with fried shumai which was usual as it's most likely frozen and fried-nothing crazy. What we were most excited for was their sushi. The fish was insanely fresh that you could taste the difference. The rice bowl came with miso soup and the portion was large enough to easily feed two people. I've been to Blue Fin a handful of times and it has always been a great experience. The waitstaff and sushi chefs are always so welcoming when you walk in. We usually come for lunch and it is a quiet setting, which we like. Their sushi is very good! We're big fans of the spicy scallop roll, spicy tuna, and dragon roll. It was my first time dining here today and I left feeling a little ripped off... The udon is $18 and only comes with a couple thin pieces of fried tofu and a tiny bit of seaweed, no other toppings. I felt this was very overpriced for this small portion of udon. The udon comes with tempura on the side, but I would've liked to have more udon noodles and toppings instead of tempura which we didn't really want. We only ordered 2 udon's, 2 rolls (1 being a Philadelphia, other one is dragon roll. Both were small) and 2 pieces of torched salmon nigiri, and our total was over $80. For this price I would expect slightly bigger portions, the sushi was pretty good though. Service was also not good. Restaurant was empty and the server didn't check on us for a long time, so I had to stand up to go ask for tempura sauce, which then they only gave us one so my husband and I had to share it even though we both had tempura with our udon's, I thought this was very weird. The tentsuyu (tempura sauce) also should come with daikon (radish) on the side, to mix into the sauce. This would've made the sauce much better. Came in on the way back from New Hampshire and was craving Japanese curry. Wow we were very lucky we did. We ordered the Diamond Roll, Explosion Roll, Spicy Beef Donburi, and Chicken Cutlet Curry. Diamond Roll (5/5) The seared salmon on the top made this a unique must try. Never had this before, but 100% elevates the shrimp tempura roll. Would come back just for this. Explosion Roll (4/5) You can see the scorch marks on the scallop and crab topping of the roll. It was tasty but almost had a fishy taste to it, which is why I took off 1 star. Spicy Beef (6/5) That's right, it was THAT good. If you like spicy foods, this was excellent. Tasted was savory with a heat that builds. The portion size was definitely worth the $20! More than 2/3 of the bowl was thinly sliced beef that was perfectly cooked. The pickled ginger perfectly complements the dish when you feel like you need a break from the spice. Would drive back from Boston just to try this dish! Chicken Cutlet Tempura (5/5) It was pricey at $22 but the portion size made up for it! Crispy chicken katsu with a ton of flavorful and rich curry. Can't go wrong with this one! The ambience was quaint and welcoming. Service was excellent. Our server, Emily was very kind and attentive, complimenting my gf's earrings and getting us our food out in less than 10 minutes. She got us water before we even sat down and even helped us bag everything when we were leaving! Sushi chefs were very nice, greeting customers as they entered and left. The only complaint was the miso soup, which was overwhelmingly salty. But from their decor to even the decision of using mason jars for water cups, they did a great job. Their food was awesome!!!! It was wicked hot that day, the restaurant was so hot too. It's so humid I just want to leave asap. The foods are undeniably awesome! I had sushi gozen. One of them was seabass oh God! Never had sushi so smooth and milky in US, like the sweet shrimp I had in japan! It's so fresh and delicious! I never dip my sushi to soy sauce, so I can tell if the fish really fresh. I did try dip my tuna in their soy sauce, and it taste even better. My husband had house ramen, I bet you can tell by it looks. It is as good as it looks the only downfall was the broth was too little. Can wait to go back there and have it again! This is one of our favorite places in town. We don't eat sushi, but the menu has plenty of dishes to choose from. We mostly get a takeout, but we dined there both before, and after remodeling and the food is always delicious. In about 10 years that we've been eating their food, we never had a bad meal. Great place to go for apps, sushi and cocktails. It's sort of tucked away on the main drag but totally worth stopping in. Prices are reasonable and I thought the sushi was high-quality. And they have great wine pours! Service was also very good. There's plenty of seating and parking too, and they take reservations. We ordered the shrimp & scallop skewers to start and they were delicious, perfectly cooked with a tasty sauce. I love sushi. I eat it everywhere I go, and almost any time I can. I've eaten sushi all over the state and up and down the East Coast. I've hardly ever met sushi I didn't like. But I can tell decent sushi from good sushi, and the occasional GREAT sushi. This place offers GREAT sushi. Due to Covid, I could not dine in. I ordered a lunch takeout. I opened my order. I took a bite. It was the best delicious sushi I have ever eaten in my entire life. Period. The fish was buttery, succulent, and instantly melted in my mouth. I have never tasted better sushi. HIDDEN GEM I've been to Blue Fin a couple of times prior to the pandemic lockdown and also got takeout a few times over the past couple of years. This was our first time going in person in a long, long time. The new decor was lovely. But the food, the food was as fresh and delicious as always. It was extremely quiet for a Saturday which was wild considering how good the sushi is. I was treating my boyfriend to a special occasion, so we ordered more then usual. The crab salad was so, so tasty. Salty and fresh, and the perfect mix of soy with the crab. We also got edamame and a mixed tempura dish for an app which were also fresh and well prepared. For sushi, we got the Spider roll, eel and avocado, and spicy tuna, as well as the tako sashimi and inari sashimi. We also got a salmon sushi and a tuna sushi. The spider roll was perfect, and both additional rolls very delicious. Spicy tuna is my go to, and Blue Fin's version was definitely spicy but the fresh tuna still came through. My boyfriend had the salmon sushi and I had the tuna sushi. I must say that the tuna sushi (a massaged piece if tuna on rice) was exactly what I've been craving for weeks. The tuna was so good!! We ate a lot of food but everything was so good that I am already craving more. On top of that, everyone was really nice and friendly. I should add that Blue Fin has a really nice sake selection. There were a number of sakes I wish to try, and the one I ordered, "Devil Slayer," was light and delicious. This is a lovely spot for a casual get together, date night, or special occasion. This is the first Yelp review I've written in a decade. I've been going to Blue Fin in Middleton, MA since I was a teenager in middle school. Since eating here, I've moved to New York and have worked 11 years for some of the best Asian and seafood restaurants in the country including: Morimoto NYC, Catch NY, Buddakan, and Sushi Samba (yeah, the one where Samantha threw the wine in Sex & The City). Why is this important? Although, I have access to all of the best fish & rice in Manhattan: Yasuda, Shuko, Noz, Zo, Tetsu, Nobu -there's nothing like visiting home and ordering "The Big Ten", hamachi kama, and an avo salad with soy dressing (and a tempura bento set for my mom) from my fav on Route 114. When COVID hit, I made it a point to tip 30% or over on our delivery orders, and one day I forgot... I frantically called and asked if they could charge $1 on my card so I could tip, and they said instead, "Please write us a good review!" So, here it is. Eat Here. New, limited dinner menu leaves NOTHING for our 12 & 13 year olds, so they were forced to order appetizers of garlic noodles over-seasoned with black pepper (spicy) & a chicken cutlet drenched in plum bbq (sticky sweet). The kids politely took bites, but we won't make this mistake twice. My family was finished before my sushi even arrived. Sushi was good, but over-dressed with spicy mayo for my preference. I hate to have to write this review but no matter how good the product is it just takes one person, one policy, one silly managerial decision to ruin the customer experience. That is the story here and it's a tragic one. Let me start by saying that Blue Fin has the best sushi on the north shore in my opinion. It's super fresh, they have talented and friendly sushi chef's. The cocktails are good. My girlfriend and I go here all the time and regularly bring our friends. We even stop at the ATM before going to make sure we have cash to tip the chef's. We've never had a bad meal here but sadly I will not be going back. On Friday evening I took my kids there to have dinner. We were greeted warmly by the staff who all know me well. My son and I ordered the chef's choice sushi and sashimi dinner and my daughter ordered the Chicken Katsu children's dinner (her favorite). The waitress asked me how old my daughter was. I told her she was 12. The waitress told me that she couldn't have her favorite meal because it was only for 11 year olds or under. When I asked her if there was an exception to be made here given that was the meal my daughter wanted she told me they would not. When I asked her for a suggestion she pointed to the adult meal that didn't come with the same things as the children's meal. I explained that my daughter wanted what came with this meal and asked what could be done. She said nothing could be done. So we packed up our stuff and left. Sadly we will not be returning because of this completely avoidable incident. The item is on the menu yet could not be provided to my daughter because she aged out of it? Does it somehow cost them more to give this item to her now than it did just a few months ago? When she ordered the sushi platter a while back no one stopped her and said she was too young.... Makes no sense..... just and arbitrary rule.... Just poor customer service. I highly recommend this place if you are 11 or under since you'll have no problem you can order whatever you want off the menu. read more

OMG was what we said after every single bite of the Big 10 menu: toro (tuna belly), chutoro aburi (seared tuna belly), uni(sea urchin), Kani(king crab, yes real crab meat), sake toro aburi (seared salmon belly), hotategai aburi (seared scallop), botan ebi (sweet shrimp), hamachi toro with jalapeño (yellowtail belly), aji (Japanese horse mackerel), and unagi (eel). The sushi chefs were definitely Japanese and their sushi dishes were amazing. The fish just melt in my mouth and $36 for that plater was a great deal. The takoyaki was top notch with 2 big pieces of octopus in each ball and sauce on the side for people who didn't want saucy food. I love takoyaki but I got disappointed with some places that gave me more batter than the amount of octopus. Definitely recommend trying that dish there. The skewers were also great. We had scallop and pork belly and we loved them both. Well seasoned. I had the house ramen while my husband had spicy miso ramen. In our opinion, the house ramen was cheaper and tasted better. For $12 I got a lot of toppings: pork belly, ground pork, mushroom, corn, some scallion and half an egg. I think the broth was a bit thick but overall it was a great bowl of ramen. ‍Service was great. The chefs greeted us when we arrived and left. The waitresses were very polite. They even changed my tea before I got to drink it all just because it was already cool after a while. We've been there twice and they changed my tea both times, made sure I always had hot green tea on my table. We love this place a lot. We definitely will be their regular customers. This place is super close to my work place and has become our go-to when we have some additional time we can spend on lunch. During my recent visit, I ordered the House Ramen (spicy) and it was absolutely at par to some of the more expensive and famous joints I've been to in and around Boston. I have also ordered sushi before, and that was also very well made. My colleagues order the lunch combos and the portions are perfectly sized and each of the elements have been genuinely delicious! Just moved to the north shore and this is the only place that has ramen on uber eats!! Tried the spicy miso ramen without the ground pork. Soooo good the broth is sooo yummy doesn't have a weird taste at all. And it's not as heavy as some ramen broths. read more
