Tremendous selection of fresh produce. They pack a lot into a small space. I read an interview with…read morethe owner in the local paper. He grows most of the vegetables and what he doesn't farm himself, he gets from local growers. Both he and his local suppliers use organic growing principles. The fresh bread is insanely cheap here. Rolls including long ones are 2 for a buck. Milk is at very fair pricing and the produce is always fresh and priced way better than chain grocery stores. You will see lots of food items with no English on the packaging. They do try to have signs like the dumplings in the photo I but there are many products that don't, like the flavored feta cheese I was trying to figure out. Like most produce markets, there is nothing fancy about this produce market. However, I am not seeking a fancy establishment when buying produce. In fact, I think that these humble surroundings only add to the experience. Produce comes from the earth and is a more basic thing and I feel is better found in a humble establishment. They always have a good variety of types of vegetables, e.g., several varieties of eggplants that have different qualities when cooked, many varieties of large and small and hot and sweet peppers, a variety of greens, and, in general, a wide range of fruits and vegetables throughout the growing seasons. (In addition, unlike some of the farm vendors, the owner has always been very friendly.) The market has lost some good farm vendors over the years, but I'm glad this one is still around.
