I am a vanilla lover. My fragrance loves in my collection are Burberry Goddess, Vanilla Woods, Babycat and Angel Elixir. I will mix it up though because I don't discriminate and just love an uplifting fragrance. Refran has some amazing vanilla based options. It was so hard for me to pick just one, but eventually did! I brought two of my besties back the same day to treat them to the same lovely experience. I also made another purchase as a gift. There is something here for everyone. The quality is excellent; the products are clean; the experience is a blast; the owners are knowledgeable; it's a small local business; and we now have another uniquely Carlisle gift spot. They have regular store hours, but will also open by appointment. I cannot wait to take family members when they visit. Don't let the location throw you off... The building looks residential. I had been frequenting a (unnamed) salon on Carlisle and although it was supposed to be the best, I was unhappy with my hair (some how I ended up as a blonde when I wanted to be a redhead). So I asked around an a co-worker and she suggested I go visit Exxtreme Trend. Since I was so impressed with her hair I quickly gave Leslie a call. She was able to squeeze me in that day! Awesome! I'm used to having to wait up to two weeks for an appointment. Also, she has nights where she works late (which is awesome if you have a 9-5 job). Leslie listened closely when I tried to explain to her why I wasn't happy with what the last salon had done to my hair and how I thought it could be fixed. She offered a few suggestions and got to work. Before I knew it she has fixed the mess that was my hair and it looked beautiful! And I am now back to my brunette self huzzah! My birthday is Saturday, February 14th so I wanted to treat myself to a nice relaxing pedicure and eyebrow waxing. I knew that I wanted callus remover and a gel pedicure. The woman kept telling me to try the other things but I just simply did not want those options. Upset, she stormed off to put the book down and came back to start the job. She not only cut me once, but twice! And when I verbally let out an ouch and pulled my foot back, she didn't offer an apology with softer behavior, she simply kept trying to do it and say that she needed to. My toe now hurts and was bleeding but she kept trying to rub oil on it to "heal" it. Girl, let my foot go. I went to pay and let the woman up front know and she asked to see my toe and she acknowledged the cuts and the woman who tended to me starts yelling in her native language in a very aggressive manner. This is my last time patronizing this place. I'm disgusted by the lack of customer service and respect. I still paid and tipped gracefully, as I have integrity and morals. PS: my toes look awful. The Good If you are looking for a simple blowout, Yocasta herself does an excellent job. She consistently achieves a straight, shiny, and bouncy finish. The Issues * Stylist Consistency: Booking online is unreliable. You will likely be assigned to Shiry 9 out of 10 times, regardless of your request. While she does get hair straight, she uses an excessive amount of direct heat on the scalp, which is quite painful. * Hidden Costs: Be aware that they charge an additional $20-$30 above the advertised price if your hair texture is beyond 3c. * Service Reliability: I once pre-booked an appointment specifically for a color service, only to be told upon arrival that they didn't have the color available despite my request being noted in the booking. The Haircut Experience My recent attempt to get a haircut was a disaster. I showed Yocasta a picture of a straight, blunted bob with light layers, but she barely looked at it. After washing my hair, she proceeded to cut it into an afro-style shape, which was the complete opposite of my request. The resulting layers are very uneven. I've given it a few days, but I still dislike the look; it requires constant hot curling just to appear presentable. I plan to visit a different salon to have this fixed once it grows out. Verdict I would suggest using this salon only for an occasional blowout. I strongly advise against booking them for haircuts or color services.
