Very detailed and she made sure my nails looked perfect- and they are. The massages were incredible and relaxing. The customer service was great and not to mention they took me in about an hour before they closed and stayed until they finished my mani and pedi and my nails were dried- they didn't rush me or made me feel rushed at all. First tech, I had two nails lifting and she just applied overtop. I said ma'am these are lifting on it's okay I'll blend. I wanted a natural look. The cuticles were so uneven, no consistency within the nails. Shape was great: instead of fixing it she asks for help. Second Lady, she refills them and then again shape is fine. But, the nails themselves were mounds. Above my cuticle nothing then this huge mound of acrylic. She asks another lady to come polish. Third lady, she does 100x better than the other two. She notices the horrible buffing or the mounds on my nails. I was like FINALLY. She fixed them but, rushed the polish job. Cuticles are flooded. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall horrible experience. Let me start this review by saying I'm new to the area and I was trying to find my next go to salon. In all my years getting my nails done, this has got to be the worst quality of nails I've ever gotten. I've never had sns chip and I go 3-4 weeks with the same set on. Not only did I have to go back and get a nail fixed the DAY after, I ended up having to go back another 2 days later and then a THIRD time a week after my original appointment. they were great when they first opened! I swore by them but now they hand out nail fungus like it's candy. my mom my moms friend and myself all got nail fungus from this place. Not to mention they suck at doing acrylics, literally walked out and within minutes my nails broke I ended up going back 4 times in 2 days to have them fixed...not worth it. I believe it was Nancy who did my pedicure the most recent time I went and oh my God she did amazing!!!! I felt like a brand new women coming out of the store!!! I have been to Blue Ocean several times over the past few years and it has gone downhill at each visit. Yesterday was the worst experience and I also witnessed unsanitary practices. I have made appointments and requested a specific nail technician three times in a row.... and not received that person. The specific person I got yesterday proceeded to grind my gel polish off my nails after I specifically asked several times to please soak it off. I asked for short square nails with round edges, I told her that they were too long and she said she would file, and they were still too long. After she filed my nails were crooked and I pointed it out and she either couldn't see that several nails were crooked or just didn't care. She began clipping my cuticles without ever using any cuticle softener/remover, when I asked she said they don't use it because it makes the polish chip (every other place I have ever been to has used this). When she used the nippers she made my cuticles so jagged and after washing my hands its clear she destroyed them. The polish job was probably the worst I've ever paid for at a salon. I received gel nail polish but on several nails the color was all over my cuticles and the top coat didn't make it on top of the polish color, thus making it look matte. I pointed this out and she only made it worse, so I cut my losses and just chalked it up that I will be having to go elsewhere to get a professional look. The tools she used were in a box, I assumed they had been cleaned until I saw her move right onto the lady after me without even a blink of an eye. I would also like to mention that while I was there there were three women that had their nails done there Wednesday that had to be fixed. This place used to be very good however they have gone down hill drastically recently. I went in there a week and a half ago to get a gel polish pedicure. The pedicure was rushed and I didn't feel like I had even had a proper pedicure by the time I was finished. My feet were still rough in places where the guy didn't scrub the calluses off completely. Normally with gel polish the polish lasts for one to two months. Half of my toenail polish has already peeled off. Do yourself a favor and go to coastal nail down the street. It's more expensive but at least you get your moneys worth. read more

My daughter and I went for mani pedis while here on vacation. Mine was great. Daughter's experience was awful. Something broke in footbath. Water was dirty. Had to ask to have it changed. Tecnician tried to use a dirty towel. Had to ask twice before it was replaced. All nails were shaped unevenly and different lengths. Manicure polish was blotchy and thick in areas. The receptionist was unwelcoming & unfriendly. We didn't have an appointment & our visit seemed like a inconvenience to them. They were able to accommodate us very quickly even without an appointment and we appreciated that. The lady who did our polish change was on her phone the whole time with earplugs in. It took me a while to figure that out. I thought she was talking to herself. She did a great job on our toes & we were very pleased with her work. When we went to pay we were charged $50 (total) for 2 polish changes. The lady kept standing there as if she expected a tip. We won't visit Blue Ocean again. They managed to fit all 3 of us in after a busy Labor Day weekend. We were pleased with our manicure and pedicures. Everyone had a pleasant attitude. **One suggestion would be to change all of your lightbulbs to warm bulbs. Having a mixture of warm and cool bulbs creates a dizzying effect. Plus warm bulbs makes everyone look so much better. Cool bulbs should be reserved for Walmart and the morgue. read more

She always keeps me up to date on current trends. I've had pedi and mania from her. She had done shellac, dip, and regular polish. She is a true artist. I have a LOVE Post Malone and she put him on my nails! I've never been happier with a set of nails....in my whole life. And that says a lot, bc she has made me happy many times. We were offered complimentary wine and got the deluxe pedicure. After, our feet were smooth, soft and I got a gel pedicure with really cool tiger eye/magnetic polish! Beware: We gave a gift card for a massage to my sister for her birthday in August. Morehead City suffered Hurricane Flo, and my sister lost part of her roof, and was almost displaced. We all worked like dogs to save her belongings, and we hurt all over. She said a massage would do her a world of good. She hadn't had the time to use her birthday Blue Ocean gift card for a massage. She mentioned she had no idea where the gift card was. On our way out of town, we stopped by Blue Ocean and learned, under no circumstances, would the owner honor a massage without the actual certificate. I understand a gift card is like cash, but in extenuating circumstances, a good merchant will make exceptions, and be kind. Shame on this merchant. I had Kenny today to do a pedicure. The reviews of him that you can find below are true. He was very rushed and rude. I asked for the deluxe pedicure. Granted I was a walk in. He told me it was fine and then not even five minutes later asked if I would do a basic pedicure. Because he was busy. Which if he would have said in the beginning that he didn't have time to do it I would have either came back later in the day or agreed to just do the basic one. Well I told him the basic one was fine and when he realized I was upset he did the deluxe. He put the scrub, mask, and lotion on my skin at the same time to do the massage together I guess to hurry up. Then didn't even rinse it. He also did the hot stones which he literally just wiped each side of my leg with once then put them away. Once the hot towels came out he told me he would leave them on for a few minutes. Not even 2 minutes later was he proceeding to take them off. In total the "deluxe" pedicure lasted maybe 30 minutes. There was two women who had been seated before me on either side getting worked on (they had both been sitting there before I even walked in because I saw everyone who was in the salon while waiting) and I finished before them! This pedicure at best could be called a basic one. I'm only calling it that because he actually scrubbed the bottom of my feet for more than 30 seconds. When I complained to the very understanding secretary she did not even seemed surprised that I hated my service with him. That apparently this is a usual thing with him. I was going to pay $86 originally but she had me pay $70. I don't even think this pedicure was worth $20. I'm typically an understanding person considering I have worked in customer service and health care but this service was horrible. If it was even possibly I would want my money back. It was a waste of $70 I could have done everything at home and had a more relaxing experience for less than $20 read more

Removal of acrylic nails was painful and incomplete. Decided to get nails removed altogether after trying 3 different salons, all with poor sanitation/hygiene practices and awful fumes with poor ventilation. Decided on this place from reviews, however it was no different. Turns out much of previously reviewed staff went back to Vietnam. Never given chance to wash my hands. All of the tools were dirty. Same towel used for me as the person prior to me. Nail tech with poorly kept nails and suspected unwashed hands. Nails themselves with jagged edges and mis-shaped after completed. Charged $35. Still left 14% tip as a courtesy and due to the hard times, but definitely not going back. read more
