My daughter needed a bouquet for her wedding and a lei for her husband. I had a problem with communication with the florist. After I placed my order I emailed 2 pictures so I could get a quote and said we didn't know which exact colors yet. A few weeks before the wedding I emailed to confirm which one I wanted of the two. They made the wrong one so the colors were completely wrong. I also emailed to confirm the flowers were being delivered still and they never followed up. They did deliver the flowers in a timely matter and they were beautiful but it was just frustrating that they would not read their emails. read more

For me a trip to Hawaii isn't complete without a tuberose lei (tuberose has the most heavenly fragrance which I associate most with Hawaii). You can get such leis here, as well as other flowers and other types of leis. Blue Orchid is a full-service, upscale florist (at least that's the impression I got). The flowers are beautiful. We visited Hawaii for our first time this year to celebrate my 50th b-day. On my bday we decided to get some leis to wear around. I found Blue Orchid on Yelp and they were highly reviewed. We drove over and found they were in a neighborhood, which at first seemed a bit different, but trying to keep an open mind we drove in the driveway. Blue Orchid was closed when we tried calling on New Year's day, so we were really bummed out because we needed last minute flowers for our elopement the following day. The Grand Hyatt concierge saved the day! They were able to reach Arlene, the owner of the flower shop and my new hubby was able to order me a wedding bouquet and leis for our lei exchange. I wasn't picky and didn't have any specific requests or colors in mind, so I was a little worried about the final product would look like. Silly me! The bouquet was absolutely gorgeous composed of purple and green orchids with white roses, that was bound together with satiny white ribbon with pearl accents that was a nice touch. Days later, and they still look great despite the beating they got sitting in the trunk of our rental car all day and then with the flight back over to Honolulu. We also got a beautiful christina lei and the hubs got a tea leaf lei that were strung a mere couple of hours before the ceremony. This was all for $200 with our last minute order while they were closed and delivery to the hotel. I am conflicted in leaving this review as I typically don't do this type of thing. However I was very disappointed with the wedding bouquet I ordered from Blue Orchid. My wedding colors were blush, sage and navy. I communicated that I wanted a primarily blush bouquet (whites could also be used) with some eucalyptus. I also knew navy would be difficult so I brought some treated flowers with me to be included. The bouquet I received was a mix of everything. Some blush flowers, but there were also ones that were more coral in color. Even worse many of the flowers were YELLOW. On top of all of that there was green foliage that wilted within 10 minutes and hung down. It looked horrible. If I could attach a picture I would. I was quite upset given I spoke to Arlene on a number of occasion to confirm the order and what it would look like. It really put a cloud over parts of the day. read more

We found this shop after visiting the wine shop next door. I needed flowers for our Church ceremony which my mom was going to arrange. We met Arlene the owner of the flower shop, which come to find out she was our florist for our wedding the following day. (Worked through a coordinator) I told her I didn't want to spend alot, gave her a budget and she stretched that budget! Although I said my mom would arrange them, she went ahead and did it for us and was super quick! Through our coordinator, we also ordered 20 or so leis, 5 bridesmaid bouquets and my bouquet. I was very impressed, they looked like the pictures I sent and my bouquet was just gorgeous! Highly recommend this place for your florals. Despite having just recovered from cold and working the craziness of graduations and Mother's Day, Arlene helped me deliver my dream flowers in a cost that was much doable. She will help work with you with your budget. For example, when I wanted a haku lei with peonies, it would have costed me $100+. She instead suggested to go with a half lei because I already had a veil to go with. I was able to cut the cost in half and still looked beautiful in the pictures. Arlene also lend us her vases to put the bouquets in, which went to show her generosity. She's also conveniently located right next to Ellen O'Connell (wedding licensing agent) who you'll need to meet to get your wedding license. The day before our wedding we stopped in Blue Orchid to see the flowers that they were going to use in my cascading bouquet, but unfortunately not all of the flowers had arrived yet and their refrigerators had stopped working, so needless to say they were all slightly stressed about saving all of their beautiful flowers that had been shipped in from all over. Arlene insisted that everything would be exactly as I had requested and I had no doubts. The next day, we stopped in at noon to pick up the bouquet, matching boutonniere and two leis for our wedding ceremony that day at 4:30pm. Unfortunately they were still trying to get the star gazer flowers to open up for my bouquet but Arlene said that they would deliver them free of charge to us at the Grand Hyatt within an hour, which was still plenty of time for our ceremony. I still had no concerns. Arlene made me feel at ease and I knew that she would make something beautiful. When the flowers were delivered I was getting my hair and makeup done but when I arrived back at the room and saw the beautiful cascading bouquet, boutonniere and leis I was MORE than pleased! They were all so incredibly beautiful and very fragrant. I had asked Arlene to just make the bouquet very bright in colors and to have the boutonniere to match...she made that happen and all of the flowers made our pictures even brighter in so many ways! Arlene and her staff at Blue Orchid Florist in Koloa, Kauai (HI) provided my bridal bouquet, several floral leis and a traditional kukui nut lei, and loose flowers for my bridal hairstyle and my mother's updo. Arlene and the ladies in the shop are very sweet, laid-back, and instantly felt like family the moment my mother and I walked into the shop in Old Koloa Town. My bridal bouquet was just beautiful and included some wonderfully fragrant gardenias grown in one of the ladie's home garden. She kindly gave my mom some extra gardenias to take back to our rental house "just because" she and my mom bonded and my mom told her that gardenias were her special wedding flower. It was so hard leaving my beautiful bouquet behind when we left Kauai! The roses, orchids, and greenery last for several more days after the wedding and graced the counter in our rental home's master bathroom. Blue Orchid was even able to custom create the ilima lantern, tuberose, and blue orchid lei that my fiance just HAD to have ;-) They also customized my parent's leis. The prices did seem a little high for the leis (averaging about $50 a piece except the kukui nut lei which was a reasonable $12) although this might be the norm for the island. This is the one and only florist I contacted so I'm not the best source of information about the value of their services and products. Beautiful flowers! Got some lei's, a boutonniere, my bridal bouquet, and some loose orchids from them for my wedding in mid-May. The real gem was my bridal bouquet. I got a cascading bouquet with orchids, puakinekine, and real seashells throughout. It was absolutely breathtaking -- I had a hard time watching it fade and wilt with time over the past couple of weeks. Pricey but worth the money -- the flowers lasted surprisingly long!
