I'm a new home owner and was completely new to landscaping work required for front and backyard. I hired Blue Ox for grinding a small stump in my front yard, and the work they did was quick and clean. This included the prompt visit by Kim to inspect the stump to quickly asses the work and quote in my mail. I wish more business owners had the same attitude and passion in the work they did. This is not something I gauged based on the work they did on the stump, but the additional discussion I had on a quote for tree removal. I have three tree's in my back yard, and where most business owners would've tried to convince me to get rid of as many trees to further their business cause, Kim took the time to educate me about the tree which would most sense to remove. Only when Kim pointed at the visible pruning marks on the tree did I realize that the other two trees were taken care off and that I would only need to prune them in another two or three years. We ended up deciding to remove one tree that is too small to prune as it would end up looking like a tree with no branches and smaller than the other two trees hence does not provide any shade. Apart from this, she told me about my front yard grass that should spring up once temperatures steadily get into the 50's. This was eye opening, because other landscapers told me the grass was dead and I need to thatch it completely. The type of grass I have just looks dead during winter but blooms in spring. Even if I give the benefit of doubt to other landscapers who told me my front yard grass was dead because they might not be knowledgeable, I would count this in favor of Kim because she saved me from undertaking a work that I didn't need to. read more

Hired Kim and Blue Ox for a tree removal and stump grind on August 1, 2021. Tree was taken down on August 5, but the trunk of the tree and several large branches sat on my lawn killing my grass for 4 weeks until a crew member picked up some of the branches on September 1. I texted Kim several times asking when can I expect the rest of the branches to be picked up and the stump grinded. As of this review, September 28, have not gotten a response back, branches are still sitting on my lawn and the stump has not been grinded. My BIGGEST mistake was paying in full for a job that hadn't been completed. Shame on me for trusting a local business. Please be wary if you hire Kim and Blue Ox or learn from my mistake and pay upon completion of the job. read more

Kim and her team at Blue Ox were terrific!!!!!! Thrilled we found them. Gary was incredible to watch as he masterfully cut down our 90 foot tulip poplar, and 80ft maple. Her entire team were courteous and easy to deal with while on site. In the build up we found Kim to be exceptionally responsive, and very direct and easy to deal with. I think this Tree Service is out of business. I tried calling the number 201-587-3388 and its out of service. I hope I'm wrong, but I did search and found no changes. I used Kim several times and loved her service. I hope this is only temporary. read more

I reached out to this company on Yelp on March 1 and was contacted fairly quickly. A lady, I believe maybe named Kim came out the next day, March 2 to meet my husband and gave him a quote. After I came home to review the quote, I noticed it wasn't completely clearly written on the exact work that was discussed. I called that same day and spoke with the lady, and she stated that she will come out again the next day March 3, to review the quote and look at what we wanted to be done again. She came out, gave a great quote and we told her, we're ready to hire her company. She stated that she would come out that Saturday March 6, to start the work. March 6 came and went and no one called or came. I reached out to her on March 10, to ask what happened and to try and schedule a time to get the work done. She stated that, she hadn't forgotten about our project, but was busy with a few other jobs and the weather was also an issue as far as rain that week. But that she would try to come out next, Tuesday or Wednesday to start the work. She also said that, she would call me on Sunday, March 14, 2021 to confirm. Sunday came and went with no call or anything. My husband reached out to her again on, March 16, and the same lady answers. This time she now states that, her climber for her company, supposedly moved and she had no one to climb the tree to do the job. Never did she reach out to us to inform us of any of this. She just left us hanging and had us chasing her around to see if they would come to complete the job as we had agreed. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL IN THAT MANNER! A customer should never be left chasing a company for work that we agreed we wanted to go through with them. Just be honest and inform us what the real is. I do not recommend. I gave 2 stars because she did come out twice and her quote was good. But couldn't get her to complete the job or even have the courtesy to contact us back and update us that our job would not be able to be done. It's a shame too, because I liked her. read more
