Trees - I enjoy their shade & the sound of their leaves rustling on the wind, but a recent home purchased in Fort Worth came w/some real tree challenges - 2 diseased giants & 1 w/a superheavy branch hanging over a neighbor's home. Recent storms just blew giant chunks of our big, magical backyard tree down. Thankfully the giant branches all missed our house, but we still had the equivalent of three fairly decent sized trees down in our yard. We've got 18 trees on our property and knew we would eventually have to talk to someone about how to keep them alive, so this seemed like the universe was telling us the time had come. Thankfully Clint, owner of Blue Ox, and his team were available. When scheduling, the very kind receptionist asked about the damage and asked if it was okay if we were scheduled for an appointment four days later. She was very thoughtful in asking how urgent our situation was, which it wasn't at all so I'm amazed they were still able to get out so quickly. I was even more amazed to find out the owner himself would be coming out, on a Saturday no less. Clint was very polite and clearly very knowledgeable. He could instantly identify all of the types of trees we have, what their special characteristics are, and even sent us an email with watering advice. His email that accompanied our quote demonstrated his love for trees, including a description of our tree as "superior" and expressing a desire to climb into our canopy, which I only giggled a little at. We didn't have to be home while work was done, payment was handled online after the job was done, he let us choose things a la cart from the quote since we have so many trees, and was just overall a total pleasure to work with. The only downside was I found out my magical ferngully tree that I was sure was at least 200 years old was planted in the 1970's. Sometimes knowledge hurts, but the quick, polite, and cost effective work was worth one small dream bring crushed. read more

Nicer bunch of people you couldn't find in ANY industry. Pleasant, professional, confident, reassuring, Clint and his team will take the time to tell you what they're going to do and why to keep your tree healthy and beautiful. Regarding quotes, we received some from other arborists that were right in the same range - but one could tell the thinning of our ash tree which can be seen from space, (yeah, it's that big,) was something Clint immediately took personally. For a moment he sounded as if he was a Veterinarian telling us how to keep Fido alive and kicking and not a tree! They had to go into both neighbors' yards to get the job done leaving each area CLEANER than it was when they got there. They even raked up a bunch of dead leaves from our backyard that they were not responsible for. (Something like 4 full bag's worth.) With about 10 minutes left to go it started to rain - a lot. We told the guys that we'd finish up raking when it stopped raining but Clint insisted they finish what they started. (I even offered to get pizza for everyone halfway into the job - Clint appreciated the offer but was steadfast in getting the job done.) So if you CARE about your trees and you want to hire people that are TRAINED in knowing what they're doing by some wonderful people, definitely, give them a call. Just do it. read more

My husband and I have two beautiful established trees in the front yard that were unfortunately riddled with mistletoe and causing a lot of stress to the trees. It was on our list of things to take care of before winter ended. I contacted a few places to get some quotes and I had people come out and tell me I needed to cut down to 10' above the crown of the tree, some people who didn't know what they were talking about (like what kind of trees they were), and then lastly, Clint, with Blue Ox. He gave his assessment of the trees, knew the type of tree variety right off the bat, and gave a fair pricing (along with a breakdown of what services they provided). He and his team came back a few days later and spent 7 hours in my two trees making sure every piece of mistletoe was cleared out. Their work ethic is exactly what you want (safe, precise, and efficient), customer service, excellent, and pricing is more than fair. I cannot recommend them enough! Clint looks a lot like Paul Bunion and loves what he does. He showed up on time w a group of very proficient helpers and removed hundreds of limbs from various trees on our farm property. He is very knowledgeable, well trained and equipped . He recommended waiting on an ancient live oak to a less susceptible time of year ( to avoid oak wilt). It's hard to tell where he removed the branches from most trees, it was done so cleanly and well. Not a twig a debris was left behind. I highly recommend. read more

They weren't condescending because you don't know what types of trees you have like one of the other companies. When I was out of town recently, a large limb from a tree in my backyard fell onto my house (touching a power line!) after a lot of rain. Upon realizing this, I became a bit nervous because of the power line issue. Thankfully Clint from Blue Ox Urban Forestry came over right away to assess the situation. Clint told me what to say to my electric company to get them to temporarily disconnect the power line while his awesome team removed the branch in addition to cleaning up other dying branches on the tree. I cannot say enough about Clint and Blue Ox Urban Forestry! We hired Clint to come and trim our large trees away from the house. The Blue Ox team was on time, reasonably priced and were very professional. Clint explained all that they were doing and you can tell he really cares about his craft. Clint and his team were great! He quoted us to remove two trees and their stumps, and it was just barely more than what another company had quoted to just remove one tree. When we asked how much extra it would be to grind an additional stump, he just lumped it in the price of the tree removals. They arrived when they said they would. Clint worked with the city to have our utilities marked so we didn't have to worry about it. And when they couldn't grind down all the stumps same day, Clint offered to either lower the price, or come back again later to remove it. This is just a great group to work with! We needed a large hack berry removed and of all the quotes we received and others that we talked to, none were as good as Clint. The process was seem less from scheduling an estimate to completion of the work, and I felt comfortable and in good hands the whole time. All of the glowing reviews for Blue Ox are well-deserved! I have two large pecan trees with large branches overhanging my roof on both the side and back of my house. After receiving a quote from another well-reviewed site, I contacted Blue Ox to get a 2nd quote. The owner, Clint, contacted me quickly and came out to walk the property with me. We discussed the options for addressing the problem. You can really tell that Clint knows his trees and wants to address the problem while still ensuring the health of the trees. Bonus because this is the only tree trimming service I found which carries workers comp for the employees in case they get injured. To me, this is a sign Clint cares about his employees and wants to make sure they are cared for if they are injured, even though carrying this insurance means more cost to his company. With other companies, an injured worker means the homeowner could theoretically get sued. They were able to come out one week earlier than originally planned. Both of the workers who came out were extremely polite and friendly. After finishing their work, Mike walked me around to show me their work and asked if I liked what they had done. They did such a great job of cleanly removing the branches at issue and other dead limbs while still leaving the tree looking like a tree and not just chopping off everything. Also, they cleaned away all of the branches and other debris so you could not even tell they were there. Summary: fast communication, great work, no bait-and-switch issues with billing, and they were significantly cheaper than other companies. read more

This is not your ordinary tree service. Clint *knows* trees. We asked him to plant a special memorial tree in our yard. He asked lots of questions about our needs, tested the soil, and looked carefully at all the other trees in the yard to assess their health. They were already doing great, but since he was so careful with the special tree we asked him to service the others also. Again he was super thoughtful in the way he approached this.
