My first appointment at Blue Remedy - I just moved to Mahopac in March of this year. I had cut, color and style with Patty. I really needed it! Patty is terrific and this salon is lovely. My hair looks perfect and the price was very reasonable ($117 compared to the $180 I averaged in my lower Westchester salon). I have to preface this review by saying that the sheer saturation of hair salons in the Mahopac and nearby Westchester area make it incredibly difficult to find a good one - there are so many conflicting reviews/opinions that it's almost impossible to find a great haircut unless you take the time to visit all of them yourself. And I'm pretty sure that, over the years, I have hit almost all of them (hyperbole for the sake of an entertaining review) and I have never found a "good" one. So when I decided to try Blue Remedy, I felt jaded. I was in desperate need of a cut and thought "meh, might as well try this one." I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to get me in on short notice (two days, all done through Yelp! Messaging) and the women I spoke to on the phone to confirm was very pleasant. The salon itself is very nice - not overly trendy but clean and bright. The woman at the front desk promptly took me to get my hair washed. Before they wet my hair, my stylist Natalie came by to see what I was looking to get done and check the stats of my hair before it got wet. She was super professional and had great hair herself, so I felt very comfortable in her hands. The wash itself was great - I didn't get the name of the woman who washed my hair but she did an awesome job, was very cheerful and super personable. Natalie took me to her chair and basically summed up her plan of attack for me. I should note that I am by no means picky with my hair - I usually tell stylists to let me know what they think will work, and give them relative freedom to execute that idea. She was very meticulous and pointed out what she was doing as she was doing it, which was appreciated. She finished in record time (my hair is quite thick and I usually plan on being in the chair for a minimum of an hour for the cut alone) and blew it out quickly as well. When she finished, I was in LOVE! It was exactly how we discussed it would look, and it looked extremely healthy and bouncy. I told her I would definitely be back and felt relief as I would no longer need to "salon hop". TL;DR - great salon, great pricing and awesome results. I went there on a Saturday last- minute. They not only made room for me but it was the first time anyone has ever cut my hair according to the photo I showed them. They were very nice and the they use aveda products which include a lot of natural ingredients ( at least they smell natural haha) they use a lot of essential oils... rosemary in the shampoo, definitely patchouli in the oil they used. Anyway, my hair came out great and I felt like the staff really listened to my questions and concerns instead of other places that kind of ignore what you say and cut your hair the way they think is best. They seat you in front of a special mirror to discuss what you want prior to even washing your hair, so they really do take special time to make you feel heard. Alexis cut my curly, recently thinning and problematic hair like a pro! Highly recommend! read more

After being in the ocean and pool all summer, my hair was super dry and brassy. I was warmly greeted when I walked in and explained to Gina what I was looking for. Gina is a sweetheart ! I emailed thru Yelp and Alexis, the owner, got back to me almost instantly. I was greeted by the receptionist and Nicole showed me to a chair and offered me a refreshment. Alexis came up to me almost instantly and we talked about what I wanted. I had 3 or 4 photos to show her and she went to work...it was if she knew EXACTLY what I wanted. I have been having my hair colored for 30 years from Manhattan to Paris and I can honestly say that Alexis got it PERFECTLY right the first time! Color, cut and blow dry ..all very well done! Love, love, love, love Blue Remedy! It was recommended by a friend but it took a scheduling mix up at another salon for me to try it--as a walk in. They couldn't have been more welcoming, professional, friendly and accommodating! I was so pleased with the color that Ava selected for me and she was so friendly and patient. I came back for a scheduled appointment with her and a big haircut change. Not only did she discuss style options and pros and cons via pictures and experience but she gave me the PERFECT cut and style. I am so happy and can't recommend them enough. It is a lovely, serene, clean and zen-like salon right in the heart of Mahopac. I would travel quite a distance for Ava and this salon and on top of it all it is very reasonably priced!!!!! read more

This place is a real great find! I got a great cut here recently from a friendly and talented stylist (Alicia). The salon is well-run, clean and organized. It's a cute space too, nicely decorated. I grew up in Mahopac and was back for a visit. For whatever reason, I always had a negative feeling about the businesses in downtown Mahopac. I'm glad I didn't let that unfounded prejudice keep me away from Blue Remedy! I would come back here for sure. read more

Blue Remedy is top of the line hair salon. I started coming here since 2007. I've been seen the same hair dresser and she's incredible. Margaret knows exactly how to style my hair. She pays close attention to every detail. I get tons of compliments on every haircut. When Margaret has been away, I have seen Alexis (owner) and Alicia, both equally as talented and meticulous about doing the best job. I have been coming to this salon for over 10 years, and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences. The stylists/colorists are absolutely amazing. Gina is my go to girl since day one, and I absolutely love her, but there have been plenty of times where I came in last minute and needed to go to someone else, and every time it's been perfect. When I came in the first time I had damaged, bleach blonde hair, and Gina must have spent at least 6 hours getting my hair back to normal. When I left it was a beautiful color that complimented my face and it was so much softer. From then on, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. The Aveda products are great, I have changed colors and styles many times over the years and no matter what, my hair always looks healthy and pretty. It's a great atmosphere there too which is really important to me considering I spend a couple of hours there every 4-5 weeks. Overall it's a salon with great people, offering great service using great products. And for me it's well worth the money as well as a long drive from White Plains. Although I don't think its expensive compared to other options in Westchester, but I can't say for sure since I haven't been anywhere else in over 10 years! I do have to put a small warning out there, since the last person mentioned it. If you are really annoyed by occasional lateness, Gina can sometimes run late, but only because when she is with someone, she stays so focused on them and making sure they are happy, she may not notice the clock. Again, for me, it's totally worth the sacrifice, because I know when she is working on my hair, I have her full attention and she won't stop until I am completely satisfied. read more
