I did a lot of research to find a master stylist that specializes in pixie style cuts and the search is finally over. John was super friendly and gave me tons of information on styling. He also walked me through his hair cut approach and offered ideas on maintenance. I was very happy with my cut and can honestly say he is the first to ever style my hair without me restyling it while in the salon. Nourish Hair and Body!! Congratulations!! Your entire staffs inability to do anything correctly has led me to leave my first ever Yelp review. Well done! I scheduled an appointment with Nourish Hair and Body about a week in advance of my haircut. The day of my appointment I received a call saying it was cancelled and I needed to reschedule so I did. A few days later I got a call the morning of my second appointment that my haircut was again cancelled and I would need to reschedule again. So again, I did just that. I finally went in for my third appointment and stood at the front desk for a few minutes until John (who saw me come in and had been standing five feet from me the whole time) asked if I needed any help or if I had an appointment. I did have an appointment and it was supposed to begin five minutes ago. I said "yes" and I was told to wait and that someone would be with me shortly. My jacket was taken to the back and I waited for my haircut to start. After waiting for over 20 minutes I asked the front desk if they could go grab my jacket. They did, and I then explained I had an appointment at 12 but I've been waiting too long and I am going to cancel, to which they replied "okay!" as if that was a normal experience for their customers. John, please spend less time looking at yourself in the mirror and more time focusing on the customers in your business. Horrendous customer service. Zero stars. Would not recommend! read more

Loved everything about my haircut and experience! John is a true pro, and gave my shoulder length hair a total refresh--cleaning up dry ends and adding long, face framing layers. I hadn't cut my hair in nearly a year (new mom, life happens!) and he was totally understanding of my awkward hair loss/regrowth, while also giving me something stylish yet low maintenance. John is a gem, and I'm so grateful my friend introduced me to him and this salon. I was nervous to go this short with my hair, but not only is John clearly experienced, he knows how to communicate around it and its very easy to just want to shut up, trust him, and let him work. But if you need it, like I did, he'll communicate every step of the way, which he did for me and I appreciated it. He spoke about cutting hair, lines and shape, products, and seasonal changes, both poetically and intellectually, which is basically my love language. He took some of the photos I showed him and customized it exactly to my face shape, my desired level of maintenance, my aversion to products, etc. and the result was perfect. I never quite love how I look walking out of a salon, but I did this time. And days later, this cut is everything I hoped it would be. TLDR; If you're going to go short, John's the person to trust for the job. Tell him I sent you and you will get zero discount because he deserves every penny. I don't think I'll have anyone else cut my hair if I can help it. I forget the name of the gentleman who washed my hair, but if he wants to do that every morning for me, I'd be fine with that. I look forward, one day, to having Lydia do some massage work for me, because after talking to her about it, I trust she's as skilled in this as John is in cutting hair. Also, unrelated to the work, the salon's space is gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated. Lofty and airy, but cool and industrious. It took 10 years of living in the suburbs to find a salon that's NYC caliber. Actually, even better because of the atmosphere and excellent customer experience. True artists who really seem to love what they do. Everyone there is wonderful- Alex is a genius with color, John a true master at his craft and Nicole rounding out the experience making every customer feel pampered and comfortable. Nicole has cut and styled my 10 and 13 year old daughters hair and did an impeccable job- one has fine, wavy hair and the other thick and curly. A neighbor goes to Lydia for massages and spoke so highly of her, too. And, the products they use have brought my hair back to life- making it healthier than it has been in years. Referred by a friend, I started going during Covid. They took the safety of their staff and customers seriously and went above and beyond safety protocols. Nourish is a hidden gem. Low key, with a great vibe, and an edgy down-to-earth owner/stylist, it's just perfect. I found it because I admired someone else's hair and her color complemented her beautifully. My hair looks the best it has ever looked in my life. The quality at Nourish rivals any $300 haircut, but that's not even the best part. John's understanding of color will take your hair to new heights. He's a master color corrector and he does blonde right. I've been there twice, and both times left thrilled. They focus on hair and body only; I have no doubt Lydia's massage services are just as divine, and I look forward to that next time. I just feel like I need to do this because I'm so over-the-moon pleased: I've been getting my hair colored/highlighted at Nourish for a few months and love the easy, welcoming vibe of everyone. Staci does my color and is outstanding. I got my hair cut by John a week ago, and it just wasn't what I wanted. I could tell he had skill, though, so I went back in, and there was absolutely zero ego about it on his part. He consulted with me about my options and then came in early in order to fit me in on a different day when it wouldn't be rushed (he didn't tell me this but I know what time they open). He walked me through his thoughts and, with a few more snips, gave me something that I totally love, with a lot of education about how to care for and style my hair along the way. I too am a follower of John! I have been seeing him for all my hair care since 1995! He was awesome back then and has grown and changed and has become even better! I must admit, I only see John just twice a year, but I get compliments on my highlights ALL the time! (even when I am way passed due for some new ones!) With an upcoming wedding, I searched for a stylist to give me the perfect up-do. Unhappy and at a complete loss I decided to call John. He highly recommended Staci who works with him at Nourish. Why I didn't call him in the first place is beyond me, It would have saved me a whole lot of money and headaches!!
