I've been dealing with chronic pain for over 10 years, and for the past five years I've been seeing Dr. Rick Lee at Blue Ridge Chronic Pain Center. Finding him has truly been a blessing. Dr. Lee is kind, professional, and truly cares about helping his patients improve their quality of life. His lead technician, Jeff, is a true professional, and the entire staff--from the receptionist to the rest of the team--is always welcoming and supportive. Dr Lee has always treated me with respect and care. Over almost 20 years ago, I had a failed back surgery which left me in constant pain with permanent nerve damage and limited mobility. Over the years, various doctors have partnered with me in addressing these issues, including: oral medication, physical therapy...both land and water, a spinal stimulator, epidural injections, acupuncture, and other treatment modalities. When I moved to Lynchburg, just nine months ago, I carefully researched the available clinicians in the area who treat pain. I chose Dr Lee and have appreciated his careful and caring approach to treatment. Yes he prays with me at each visit, which appeals to my belief in holistic & interconnected health: emotional, physical, spiritual & mental. Dr Lee has moved me to a different pain medicine which is safer but still effective. I learned long ago that pain management doesn't always mean pain elimination; rather, it involves tamping down the pain to a level which is more manageable. Of course I would prefer not to be in pain at all, nor to have to be on medication of any kind. Since neither is really possible, I am thankful to Dr Lee for partnering with me in my treatment. I told him what helped me from my last pain doctor. So he did that then all of a sudden he wanted to stick me in my spine next to my nerve in my back with needles which would have been temporary. Plus you have to sign this paper that if he messed up somehow that you can't sue him. I said no after knowing he wasn't doing it in the hospital. He thinks he's God (far from it) and got the nerve to want to pray for you like he's a healer. Big crap!!!!!!!!!!! He then started taking me off my medication slowly because he's piss because i said NO. He pissed me off. He is all about money. The procedure he wanted to do cost alot more then just sitting in the room talking to you and fake praying! He is full of himself and a pure assh*le. Run for cover because that's all he want to do is make big money padding your insurance and sticking you in your back which sometimes doesn't help and if it does it's for a short period of time. read more

Dr. Lee is cocky snarky and unhelpful. To him it seems like you're just another $. His staff is wonderful though. I went to him and got two different injections. Neither one of them helped. They actually made it worse. He never even seemed to care about my issue. He seemed to care more about praying for me than anything else. I guess he thought God was going to do most of the work and he just had to walk into the room. He never looked at any of my history and he didn't even know that I had history of back issues, like the cyst on my spinal cord that he had no idea about. He was very surprised when I mentioned it...He also would not look at my MRI images. He just read the report. He said he saw so many pictures a day that him seeing mine wouldnt make a difference. I'm not able to work right now because of my back issues. it hurts to sit , stand, walk. It's very painful. Social services said that I have to get a written statement from my doctor saying that I'm not able to work right now to get some help. He would NOT help me. His receptionist told me that HE said they don't do that there. I asked why and she couldn't tell me a reason. She didn't know. So basically it's him, being the boss, not wanting to do it. There are many more things I could say, but it would make this post way too long. But all in all, I would never recommend this quack to treat anyone's pain. He doesn't even deserve 1 star. He also likes to send people like me, who were former patients letter saying I'm very rude and he was no longer willing to be my physician. Yeah, I left you. You didn't have to write to me. He was condescending right from the get go. I have residual pain on my right side due to Lyme Disease. But I went to him due to a flare up that wasn't going away. and degenerating discs. I started to mention my Lyme Disease and he cut me off mid sentence, angrily saying "this has nothing to do with Lyme!" How does he know? Is he a Lyme expert? It has everything to do with Lyme! As I started to tell him about hurting from right neck down to right lumbar, he seemed perturbed. Told me I had to pick which section I wanted to talk about. I was like.. all of it hurts equally. But he insisted. So I did. I also told him how I was extra hurting due to pickleball, to which he said "no one gets injured in pickleball, that's why old people play it." I guess he's not aware how younger people play, or how many are injured on a regular basis playing it. So he outlines a potential treatment, THEN HE ASKED ME IF IT WAS OK TO PRAY WITH ME. I balked. He said "I mean if you're not offended by it." What was I to say? Prayer doesn't offend me. But in a doctor's office I don't feel it needs to be there. If he wants to pray for me after I leave, great! Anyway, I reluctantly said it doesn't offend me. He prayed for me to make the right decision for my healthcare needs. It worked! Worthless scum. Take your money and don't give you any pain meds even though you've been on them for over 20 years. 8 back surgeries and multiple hospital visits and they tell you that due to "policy' they can't give me anything. Why bother seeing me? My pain doctor retired after years of service, unfortunately these scumbags are the only ones left in the area. I'm on Fentanyl patches and Hydromorphone and they expect me to make it cold turkey. read more

Dr. Lee and his staff are extremly good at what they do and are extremly efficient. There is much less stress than other places i have been. Dr. Lee worked me to ensure that my back pain was eliminated! I actually felt like he cared about my pain levels. Very higly recommended. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Dr.Lee is the worst doctor I've ever met. The way that he talks to you is like you're stupid and don't know anything. When trying to explain things he says oh I don't have time to listen you need a therapist. He's very condescending and rude. The nurse is antisocial. He talked to my mom like a dog. I've never seen the amount of disrespect that he showed to us. He told my mom her story was all over the place. ( keep in mind she's 70 and we all have trouble remembering things). I had to leave the room because I couldn't take the disrespect he showed. He said that my mom was too high risk and he couldn't take her on as a patient. He doesn't even try to listen. We both left in tears. He said that normally he prays with his patients but he said oh well. He claims he's a Christian but would a Christian show a person who is coming to you for help make you feel like you are the scum of the earth? Do not see this man; you won't get any help. His medical license should be taken away. read more

I left Dr. Lee's office perplexed and without a treatment plan. What is written on his web pages is not what I encountered. Dr. Lee does not listen to the patient and is not interested in diagnostics. Apparently he has never suffered chronic pain. He does not heed his patients' cries for help. Dr. Lee blamed my chronic neck and back pain and degenerative arthritis on my posture and my cat. He then prayed for me...in the exam room. He then took $250 cash from me and sent me on my way. If you are looking for medicine or relief, go elsewhere. His office makes it clear they don't prescribe pain meds, so do what everyone else does, and get it from the street.
