I was greeted warmly walking in by the front desk staff and checking in was simple and easy. As a note, making reservations through the hotels own website gives you the best rate, in comparison to all the third party options. Two queen beds on the fourth floor (top floor), overlooking a part of the old cemetary and park. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, both beds were very comfortable. Along with a couple of seating chairs and a small corner table, there was all the amenities one expects traveling nowadays, coffee station, fridge and microwave. A work station and chair and a flat screen rounded out the room. A walk in shower in the oversized bathroom had plenty of hot water for my shower in the morning. It was bright, well lit and served its purpose as intended. Breakfast is included in the stay, and it was a decent enough start to the day. Scrambled eggs, breakfast meat with potatoes, along with an assortment of breads, grits, fruits, juices and coffee and teas. Cold cereals, and yogurts as well. The dining area was clean, well lit and spacious. All in all, the Hotel Floyd is a comfortable stay and a fair value for the money. Would stay again. 4 Stars 01091

We skipped the breakfast. It's standard motel fare and with a loud TV in the room, there are better options very close by. Despite that, I feel the room was fairly priced for summertime in the USA. Though we've visited Floyd many times over the years, this was our first time staying in town, and I think this would be a great option for FF26.

Patrick and Crystal were gracious hosts. We enjoyed our breakfasts and the fellowship. It's difficult to find a place to eat breakfast in rural areas and this better than satisfied this need! The only reason I didn't give this a five is, though I did find the sheets very nice, the bed was not very comfortable and the frame and mattresses squeaked all night long any time we moved so I didn't get a real good night's sleep. My friends' beds were fine, though. I love the location and the view. Don't trust your GPS or online map, though - not even Yelp. They have tried to get it changed but the internet is not very responsive. The location is off. Follow the directions on their website and you'll have no problem finding it.

I then emailed back to inquire about his cancellation policy. He said 7 days. I called him the next day to book our accomodations. He said that he had changed his mind when I asked about the cancellation policy. "It concerned him that I asked". "No one had ever asked about that before and that we would be tying up 75% of his inventory for that weekend and if we cancelled he would lose money that weekend." I assured him that I always verify a cancellation policy anytime I reserve a hotel or Airbnb and that we would only cancel in an emergency situation (medical, death, etc.). He still said he was concerned. I find it hard to believe that no one has asked about his cancellation policy in the years he has been doing this. That is a normal procedure when making a reservation. He was rude about the entire thing. Maybe he can find someone else that wants to rent 3 of 4 places he has at one time for that weekend! The host/owner Donnie is casual, friendly and helpful. There are 3 cabooses and a Depot available for lodging. All are well spaced apart to provide comfort and privacy. If traveling with a group your still close enough to stumble on over to your on caboose. The pictures on the website are pretty accurate. You are on the blue ridge parkway about 20 minutes from Mount Airy ( Mayberry RFD), Malbry Mill, Galax and many other beautiful stops along the parkway. If peace and quite is what you are seeking this fits the bill. We chould have sat on the porch all day but the fiddles were calling.

We knew we would run out of cell service so quickly found Sally and Scott's B&B. It worked out that they had the honeymoon suite available that had its own separate french doors and own bath. Sally had pictures up of her mother in her wedding gown and also some old wedding gowns from brides past. There is a common area downstairs that has a dining room table, fridge, sink, couches and also a library of their personal collection. For breakfast we walked upstairs where we were greeting by the dogs- so friendly and the rest of the people staying there. Breakfast was probably the best ive had in years, bacon, sausage links, jam filled muffins, hash brown casserole, scrambled eggs, spinach quiche, biscuits, coffee and OJ. Both of the owners work at or for chateau morrisette which is a lovely vineyard down the parkway. The decor, people and location really made our anniversary special this year and all of it was unplanned which was the best part! Not only do they have rooms in the home but they also have a couple of rustic cabins that you can stay at on the property with a little more privacy if you wanted it.

Even the toiletries are great :p and monogrammed towels were soft and plentiful. Bring your own hammock, they had 2 on premise. It's close to downtown My Airy, which hosts a car show I believe 1x a month. They do have a wading creek and a walking trail, a fire pit, that's very far from the cabins. Id bring bicycles next time. 1 complaint is the horseshoe area had ants and was rusty..

It has a pretty loud window type air conditioner (that smelled like it was on fire when we turned it up but it mellowed out), a small coffee maker missing the pod tray, and a mini fridge. The bathroom is tiny and has a corner triangle shower. It'll get the job done. The exhaust fan sounds like a cat in heat. If you're bougie dont stay here. If you are thrifty definitely stay here. Front desk guy was super friendly!
