Chris was a great host and we enjoyed talking with him at breakfast (which was delicious both days). Chris suggested a few things to do around town that were neat to check out. He even booked a reservation for the Squad Car Tours for us and the other couple staying there (if you're a fan of the Andy Griffith Show, this is a must). Our room, The Coventry Suite, was great. It looked just like the pictures except it was decorated for Christmas which was a nice touch. The 2 person jacuzzi easily fit my wife and I. The bed was super comfy as well. The location could not be beat. It was only a 5 minute walk to Main Street in downtown Mt Airy. There was a lot of little shops and neat places to check out. I highly recommend this B&B.

Basically, just check in, relax, sleep, and wake up to a beautiful breakfast (included in the price!). As a side note, the coffee bar was amazing. Absolutely delicious coffee. We were a little nervous that breakfast would be awkward with strangers, but we had a great morning with the other guests! Anyway, We had an amazing time at the Claiborne house. We come to rocky mount a few times a year to visit family and find that the current accommodations around town are very much lacking. I am so glad that we found the Claiborne House. First, the rooms were absolutely adorable. We stayed in the Cottage room which is actually its own tiny building separate from the home nestled in the back garden. Second, This room was extra private and I liked that we were the closest to the back parking lot. Also, There was a bonfire pit in the garden with plenty of seating. This would be a great place to open a bottle of wine and relax with your partner. I recommend the Claiborne house for anyone visiting the local area or anyone from the local area that is just looking for a beautiful, relaxing, getaway!

I guess I kind of thought that a B&B owner would keep checking in, kind of like an overbearing restaurant server. Amy and Matt had a perfect balance of making us feel at home while also giving us privacy. Their house is beautiful! Although it was a large house, it was super cozy. We stayed in the Cottage, which has a private entrance from the parking area as well as a walkway from the main house. And one of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast. Amy prepared eggs, potatoes, bacon, homemade pumpkin bread, and homemade rolls. It tasted amazing with some fresh coffee and orange juice - just what we needed before we hit the road for a 4 hour drive. P.S. My only single ~slight~ concern was that the wifi was a little unreliable in the Cottage (BUT to be fair, you should stay off your electronics and enjoy your stay instead of having too much screen time). Again, this was only a tiny concern, this had no influence on lowering my rating... easiest 5 star rating I've ever given. My mom died almost two years ago and I have not had a vacation since before being her caregiver in her last days. I never expected this few days get away to be so exactly what I needed. The owners. So warm and welcoming. They truly make you feel at home. I can't say enough good things about Will and Jennifer. The staff. Omgoodness. They have this sweet lady who cooks, cleans, and anything else you need who has worked there for 18 years. After she takes care of you she goes and gives care to her elderly Mother. I'm convinced she is an angel. Thank you Kathy for everything. The cabins. Private. Clean. You really feel like you step back in time but you don't have to give up your high speed Internet either. They are simply magical. The jacuzzi tub doesn't hurt either. The grounds. Completely perfect. Everything is spaced out but you don't have to travel far to get to the lake or take a hike. Our cabin literally had a view of Pilot mountain. There are grills to cookout. Free canoe, rowboat, and paddle boats. A gorgeous pool and a sauna that is something from the past. In a good way. I have never wanted to give something six stars before, but if I could I would give Pilot Knob Inn atleast that many. I can not wait to return to that little slice of heaven.

Owned by Patti and Bernie Pizinger, this century home was restored by Patti in the early 2000s and has been operating for over 10 years. We stayed in the Monroe Room, complete with a antique queen size solid wood bed, claw foot tub, and multi head shower. There are many shared spaces including a library, conservatory and a wonderful side porch complete with a beautiful swing for two. Hot coffee served in a community parlor off the rooms then a three course breakfast iz served in the formal dining room under one of the three elegant Austrian crystal chandelier. This was perhaps the best experience we have had in a B&B in the 25+ years we have been visiting them.

The home is cute and up to date in the small little town of Madison. It is the perfect location to their Main Street where our friends wedding was. The couple that own the home are so friendly and overly accommodating. They went out of their way to make our few hours there perfect. We arrived early in the morning so we could see the town and do a little shopping. Our room was ready by 10:30 when we called. We were greeted by three friendly cocker spaniels, who get to roam the house freely which should be noted if you aren't a dog person or are allergic but we didn't mind. We had the opportunity to choose the room we wanted (I am totally blanking on names right now) and we're offered the larger bathroom since we needed to get ready for a wedding. We decided on our original room for the space. Everything was clean and had that "mommas house" smell. The one where the linens are freshly pressed and the towels are hot out of the dryer. We made some small talk and were offered a tray of water and some fresh fruit! We were also given food advice as we were starving from our drive and we ended up at Fuzzys bbq. Her husband, John, was just as accommodating. He offered coffee, bottled water and several snacks for our trip home! They were so kind and I highly suggest supporting this couples BnB. If we ever get the chance to go back we def will!

We did not know much about the area, or the history of the house. The hosts were wonderful and so very accommodating. They provided lots of detail of what is available in the area and details on the house history. We were able to tour every room. I asked where they placed the Christmas tree, as this cozy, inviting place would be perfect around the holidays. Turns out, they place several trees. Also, would consider a late spring/summer stay as there is a beautiful backyard with in-ground pool. Look forward to future stays.
