AVOID AT ALL COSTS!…read more Chase built our house in 1998-99, and we've regretted it many times over the years. So many things weren't done correctly: they put on the hardwood flooring and linoleum after the baseboards were installed, so they go up to it, not under (and I'm looking at the curling edges of the lino right now). The master bath shower was plumbed backwards, and they refused to fix it. The roof leaks - to the point that a piece of the kitchen ceiling collapsed 2 years ago. The duct work was uninsulated in the attic, costing us a fortune in extra heat (and preventing us from getting central AC). The kitchen cabinets weren't hung correctly and the countertops are coming away from the walls. The wall to wall carpets weren't stretched when installed and are now rumpled and lumpy in the centers. We couldn't have the light green vinyl siding we wanted ("no one makes that color" they said) - and yet it's on the house 3 doors down that was completed 6 months later. So many problems, all of which have been ours to either fix on our own nickel or just live with - any problem we called them about got a "well, what do you expect us to do about it" reaction, so we stopped calling. The final insult? They took about 6 months longer to finish than they promised, costing us thousands in extra rent. We have family that have worked with other contractors, for both new construction and renovations, and I feel comfortable rating these clowns as the worst we've ever encountered. I'll say it again: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

From the owner: For the past 29 years, Chase Custom Homes & Finance, Inc. has been building homes in Maine. We have…read moredeveloped many subdivisions throughout southern, central and western Maine and more importantly, built homes for a lot of fine people and their families. Maine is a big state with a small town heart. If we didn't take good care of our clients, we wouldn't still be in business. Period. But our business hasn't just survived two recessions and depressed real estate markets. We've made a lot of friends along the way. In an industry not known for repeat business, we've built more than one home for many of our clients and receive a steady stream of referrals from others. We go out of our way to build relationships as well as we build homes!

Maine Coast Kitchen Design - Cracked blue glass and pourous surface of the countertop because of the product I was left by the MCKD installer to use. It was incorrect.

If I could give negative stars I would! To say that I am disappointed with the service and the…read moreproduct that I received is an understatement! My kitchen remodel was not inexpensive approximately 50k+ for a small kitchen. My problem has always been with the installation and the instructions and product that was left for my $12,000 countertop. There are spaces because the trim was not cut correctly. These were filled in with a colored wax stick and a ginger colored magic marker and didn't look too bad at first, but over time they shrunk and the gaps are evident . My doors have screw holes in the backside of them where the hardware was supposed to be, but they were drilled in the wrong place, hence the extra holes. Honestly, I didn't like it but they didn't show unless they we're opened so I didn't complain. My pull out spice rack was supposed to have the door attached, it was not so a few months later they came by and attached it. Subsequently it not only came off but the entire pull out became unattached and fell out. I found that it was held in by one screw instead of four. My baseboard trim on two sections of the island came off and a third is lose, as well as baseboard under some cabinets elsewhere Shortly after my install my husband was diagnosed and subsequently passed away from cancer and these issues took a back seat. I finally reached out to the owner who told me that they were straight out until next summer and didn't expect me to wait for them, but advised that I could send a check for $25.00 and they would send me another wax stick that matches my cabinets and I could find someone else to do the work! I never even complained to these people when the specialty countertop I ordered with and was installed by them( a composite of glass and other materials) that cost $12000.00 was ruined because their employee who installed it left me a bottle of product for granite and stone and told me that is what I should use. It took the sealer off and after speaking with the manufacturer and having another company who fabricates a similar product discussing the situation with the owner of my countertop manufacturer, there was nothing permanent that could be done. It should have only been cleaned with gentle soap and water but I was never left the material data sheet with those instructions although they we're sent with the countertop to Maine Coast Kitchen Design. This post is long overdue. I really don't complain unless something is really, really bad. On Houzz Maine Coast Kitchen Design gets great grades because Tina , the owner will schmooze and hound you until you write one. Had it not been for the disrespectful way my request for fixing the problems with their installation was handled , I might not have bothered to write about my experience. Hi Tina, It's been awhile! I hope things are going well for you and your family. I need to have some things fixed. The door to the pull out spice rack is beginning to come off and the spice rack itself is coming out very rough. The slider part had totally come off and when extended I had to hold it up so it wouldn't hit the floor.  I managed to unhinge the clips and remove it so I could replace the screw that came out, but there's several screws missing and it appears that two had been placed originally, but weren't there, only the holes remained.  I also have some other areas that I would like addressed, minor adjustments etc. I went online to try and find the color match for the marker I was given and I didn't see 'ginger' on the website. If you could get me one or direct me to it I'd appreciate it.  My kitchen has finally come together as has the house. Since Donald's death I've been trying to make it more my style. Lots of improvements. I will be doing my two upstairs bathrooms at some point and possibly finish the basement, still unsure about that.  My schedule is flexible so if someone could get back to me and set up a time to come see it in person I'd appreciate it. I'm sending pictures but I would like to have someone come out in person.  Thanks and have a great day!  Best, Hyla My response: Hi Love!  I can of course get you a stick of Ginger for touching up...if you wanted to pop a check for $25 in the mail made out to Maine Coast Kitchen Design or Tina Richardson that would be fine - mailing address is below (Gorham).   As for touching up, we are slammed right now through next Summer trying to keep up - if you find someone once you get your touch up stick in the mail that can get there to do the handy work, feel free to do so as I do not expect you to wait for us to get out there.    I think of you often, Tina Tina Richardson, President Maine Coast Kitchen Design 17 Little Wing Lane, Gorham Maine 04038 Phone 207.321.3555 x50 Fax 888.348.5390   LIKE us on Facebook!                       From: hyla austrian Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2018 12:36 PM To: Tina Richardson Subject: Misc repairs Show quoted text
