This breakfast spot was bustling on Thanksgiving Sunday. While other places were closed, Blue Rooster was serving up some delicious breakfast and big portions. I ordered the Wake Up Call $16.95 4 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, 3 breakfast sausages, 2 slices of ham, and pancakes. Please note the server asked me if I wanted chocolate chip or blueberry pancakes. I chose blueberry and was charged an additional $2.50. It would be nice if the server told me the upcharge for the blueberry pancakes. My wife who was celebrating her birthday got the Rooster benedict which came avocado and bacon. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly soft and Hollandaise sauce was on point. Their coffee is really good and bottomless. We had like 3 cups of coffee. Overall we enjoyed the breakfast and the service here is friendly. The dining area is your typical grease spoon type of diner. I recommend coming here for your brunch fix. We decided to give the Blue Rooster a try on January 2nd ! We were running an errand in Ajax and their skillets and pricing looked promising. Not surprisingly, there was a wait when we got there. We were seated within 10 minutes. The food lived up to its promised. The skillet was served pipping hot. My wife's bacon and eggs were done to perfection. The portions are huge! South Ajax has so many places that serve a great breakfast. The Blue Rooster, located on Monarch Ave, north of Westney, is one of those places. I dropped in recently for their Early Bird Breakfast. We ordered the Elvis eggs Benedict. Pulled pork version of their Benedict. It had a lot of pulled pork on 3 English muffins with perfect over soft poached eggs. The hollandaise was good and there was ample. My wife ordered the 4 eggs sunny side up wake up call that comes with bacon sausage and ham as well as a pancake. Both breakfasts come with home fries which were ordered crisp. The wake up also comes with toast and beans. I forgot to take photos but the food was great and reasonable priced. I normally have weekend brunch at Angeliques or Scrambles but decided to try Blue Rooster since it has high ratings. Similar to the other restaurants, there was a bit of a wait when we arrived (11:30am) but was seated at the bar fairly quickly. Food 3.5/5 I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict while my s/o got the three eggs with sausage and bacon. The side shredded potatoes were delicious and overloaded onto the plate. They weren't served hot but would've even tasted better if it was. The eggs were cooked to my liking (medium) and were very fresh. The english muffin was perfectly toasted (crispy on the outside) and soft on the middle which was the perfect compliment to the rest of the dishes. Service 3.5/5 Our waitress was friendly and consistently made conversation with us. She was very attentive, always had a smile on her face and would check in routinely. I can't quite say the same about the other waitresses as they were busy with the other tables and the other seemed disinterested. This place was a'ight. It being cuter than your standard greasy spoon diner, I expected a bit more character in the food, but overall it was just okay. I ordered a veggie omelette with a side of sausages...it came with toast and potatoes of my choosing (I chose shredded). The portion was enormous! Seriously, was that a 9-egg omelette? Also, I was served enough shredded potato for an army. Overall, it was tasty enough, but I found the omelette to be a bit dry, the sausages too greasy, and the potatoes a bit cold and lackluster (not crispy at all, which I was hoping for). Hubby's chicken wrap had too much dressing for his taste, but otherwise he enjoyed it. Although, his fries were a bit below average. Sorry for the harsh review! Just keeping it real. This place is okay. You can tell it's been there a while because the cushioning in their booths have ripped. The food isn't too bad. I tried their Rooster's Nest Poutine. I actually really enjoyed it! I would definitely recommend trying this. The reason I didn't give full stars was because my boyfriend's pulled pork burger was a bit dry and didn't seem to have much sauce as expected. First and last time here. We ordered the "Wake up Call" breakfast which is bacon/meats, eggs, potatoes, toast, beans and pancakes. After waiting 30 mins for it to come out (the restaurant wasn't busy), the order came out wrong and had to be sent back. It came out again and the food was horrible. Eggs were watery, potatoes burnt, beans bland and salty. Coffee tastes like piss water. The pancakes were ok. Service was slow and inattentive. Bathroom was filthy. Feces on the toilet, used sanitary napkin on top of the open garbage bin. Overall it was not a positive experience and we will return to Angeliques where the food is always excellent. read more

This restaurant has recently rebranded itself with renovations and has the same owners. I'm unable to comment on the changes as I never visited before the reopening. What I can say is the restaurant is well decorated and the furniture is new and clean. I like that there is a large window looking into the kitchen which is also very clean. I compare breakfast restaurants by their midweek special. Everyone has their favorite easy to cook the eggs, style of potatoe and method to cook bacon. Here they serve homefries that are large cut and very thin sliced bacon (both deep fried). My wife likes her bacon crispy but I prefer a little softness which is impossible deep fried. I enjoy a crispy outside of my potatoes which were cooked well. My over easy eggs were cooked great with yolks still soft. I'm rating 3 stars because it's just an average good breakfast. Price, portion and quality are all average. I encourage everyone (including the owners) to eat around the corner to compare to their competition. For $1 more the hash brown potatoes are grilled with a large portion, bacon is thick sliced and a great smoke flavor. But as I said, breakfast is a definite individual preference. read more

I was looking forward to this restaurant after reading the reviews but ended up leaving very disappointed. We waited almost an hour for our plates even though most of the customers had left after we were seated so not sure what they were doing in the kitchen even though we saw at least 3 people working in the back. After the long wait the food was way below average. I had the eggs benedict and the eggs were cold. The English muffin was burnt black and gross and soggy. I had asked for soft eggs and they were cooked hard. They do not know how to poach eggs properly. The hash browns were limp and under cooked. My friends home fries were burnt black. The server was friendly but we felt we were being rushed to leave because they wanted to close early being told they were going to turn the lights out and the bill being shoved towards us while we were in the middle of eating.
