Went on a Wednesday night for dinner and it was busy but not crowded. It's a large restaurant the atmosphere is great. Good bar and pizza. The entrees are large and good value for the money. We had the Bruschetta which was amazing with fresh ingredients. Very well done. I had the salt and vinegar fish and chips which was tasty and very large. Crunchy potato chip batter. I came to The Brock House for dinner. Thankfully we had made reservations because they seemed to be busy. We were seated in the back room along with a party table. The ambiance is quite nice but the vibe was off for me. I couldn't put my finger on it at first but having reflected on the evening, I feel as though the staff was just condescending and 'fake'. I ordered the lobster tacos and the other guests I was with, both ordered the prime rib sandwich. They saw the sandwich delivered to another table and were impressed by the size and presentation. They, however, did not receive the same and were quite disappointed. That being said, I think consistency is lacking. My tacos were quite tasty and I was satisfied with my dish. I love good food, good variety, good service, and good value. The Brock House in Whitby offers all of that in their Sunday Brunch Buffet. My friends and I recently enjoyed this offering and really stuffed ourselves! The omelette station, with live cooking was a very popular start for many diners. Omelettes are cooked to order, with your choice of ingredients. Despite the chefs handling four orders at a time, this station got backed up a bit but was worth waiting for. A carvery was right next to the omelette station, serving up roast beef. Freshly made pizzas shared space with the carvery, offering a variety of toppings. I liked the light crispy crust. The main buffet station had chafing pans with lots of choices, including bacon, eggs, potatoes, pasta and more, as well as waffles. It was all fresh and delicious! A simple salad bar was nearby. The main bar was repurposed for desserts and there were lots of choices, including cookies, brownies, and fresh fruits. At CDN$23.90 per person, this was a really good value, with more delicious choices than one can consume. We come here often and it hasn't changed which is good and bad. I always get the prime rib and it is fantastic. Great portions, flavours and amazing french fries. The horseradish was a little weak, wish it had more punch. Bruschetta had too much sauce- which was a little strong. Service was slow for some reason, the kitchen must have been backed up. We weren't sure how mussels, curry sauce, and fries could work together, but they pulled it off flawlessly. We got a big portion and it tasted amazing. My partner ordered the slow braised boneless beef short rib and it was great. The beef, potatoes, and vegetables were all very flavourful. The beef was a little over seasoned but still very enjoyable. I ordered the cajun salmon and really liked it. I loved the mix of vegetables and beans it came with and they offered a wide variety of flavours. We had a really great experience here and would definitely return, but if I had to complain I'd say we found the service a little slow. At that time we took our apps to go and vowed to make a return. Our return visit happened on Sept 6 - it was my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! I had the boneless short ribs, our daughter had the meat lovers pizza and my husband enjoyed the special of surf and turf pasta. The food was delicious, hot, portions were on target, and the prices were great for the quality we received! Went to this little stand alone little steak house in Whitby, and we were thoroughly disappointed. Not only was the food boarder-line edible, the waitstaff was just surprisingly uneducated on this whole customer service thing. The chicken and waffles were decent, the waffles are drenched in sauce, it wasn't pure maple syrup, just some High fructose aunt Jamaima kinda stuff. The Shepards pie was made with poor quality ground beef, but it was smothered in gravy with a light topping of mashed potatoes. I had the tofu salad. This was one of the poorest excuses for a "salad" and it's apparent that no one designing the menu tasted it before putting it there. It was supposed to have Thai curry with rice and tofu with a sprinkling of edamame. What it had was some raw tofu cubes that were not marinated with anything. And a bowel of undercooked rice topped about maybe 6 beans and a small sprinkle of red cabbage. I asked for this meal to come with extra curry. Of course it didn't. So it was just a bowl of undercooked rice. Then I ask this waitress, is the rice is supposed to be hard. Her response to two people who have lived in india for years was that this is how basmati rice is. And then continued to provide us with more education on how rice should be cooked. She then brought over a small container of "Thai yellow curry" and after I dumped it in, I asked "is this a vinaigrette?" She said no, that's our Thai curry. So I proceeded to ask if there was vinegar in this, she responded yes because it's a salad. I've never rated Thai curry vinaigrette before, and I can see why this was the case. I asked her to take it back because I didn't want to eat rice and vinaigrette with raw tofu chunks. We then proceeded to get dessert because we thought it was nice to support local business. And this again was a stupid thing to do here. We ordered three sticky toffee pudding with one chocolate flourless cake. I'm not sure how they can call this cake sticky rafter pudding, it was far from. There was nothing sticky or ooy gooey... it was just a moist caramel cake. The flourless cake also tasted like a better Crocker mix. The server came back at the end of the meal to top our glasses with water after we paid, I guess to make a point. She topped everyone else's empty glass of water except mine. She also didn't listen to when when I told her what items were on my bill, and handed it off to my girlfriend to pay the tab when I repeatedly told her to give me my own tab. A little passive aggressive. It's been a while since I had such terrible service that I gave 1 star, but it was well deserved! Avoid this place if you can. It's one one of the few places that supposed to be a steak house, and it's just a musky old building with a strong odour that comes and hits you like a bag of bricks when you walk it and is so strong that it lingers while you eat. read more

Came here for the ayce brunch/lunch. They served traditional breakfast food (bacon, sausage, home fries, waffles, pancakes), they also have salads, and a selection of desserts. We are very regular customers and this is, by far, our favourite place to go. We always joke it's like Cheers where everyone knows your name but more than that, the service is always impeccable no matter who we get to serve, and the food is next level. When we got the prime rib, it looked too done but tasted it and it was so tender and juicy, not too done at all. It was also very flavourful and not bland like some other places. This is my favourite brunch spot. Their Sunday brunch is absolutely to die for, one of my favourite things ever. The selection is good and the food is high quality, hot and fresh. The custom pizza and omelette stations are amazing. The service is always friendly and prompt, although at the busiest moments it may be slightly hard to get a drink refill. But this is understandable as everyone is working hard. The ambiance in here is also very pleasant. What I will suggest is that the half-circle booths are incredibly difficult to get in and out of unless you're very thin, fit, and agile - I am none of these things so I struggled. read more

It's taken me a few days to write my review, but The Brock House is an excellent steakhouse! Why go to the big chain restaurants when you can support a local, cozy steakhouse that serves up great-tasting food with polished service, in an inviting, welcoming atmosphere? There are many, very positive reviews on yelp, and a few very negative ones (typical ...) so I took it all with a grain of salt, and just randomly treated my daughter and husband to a surprise steakhouse dinner (which, during these Covid times, I reserved in advance). Actually, it turned out that grains of salt were not required: the food was expertly seasoned, and the positive reviews echo the review that you are reading now. Above all, The Brock House prides itself on the prime rib. My family all loves this roast. When we got there, we were greeted pleasantly, seated, menus brought, drinks served, order taken. Boom! Efficient but unobtrusive and helpful. We began by splitting the Mussels with the Curry Cream sauce. I enjoyed the cilantro sour cream side, which I felt complimented the curry cream very well. The chefs at The Brock know how to make a sauce, for sure! My husband followed with a Caesar Salad. I toyed with the idea of ordering the Lasagne, intriguingly made with brisket and pork bolognese, but then remembered: "You're at a prime rib place! Why are you looking at lasagne?" So we ordered three rounds of prime rib: two rare and one medium-rare. The meat came exactly as ordered. My rare portion was juicy, but with a nice browned edge which augmented that beefy flavour. My husband and daughter were also pleased with theirs. My husband is doing a keto diet, so he passed on dessert. My daughter and I ordered creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding respectively. I order sticky toffee pudding whenever it is on the menu, and this one was quite respectable. Very nice sauce! The evening was a bit of a treat, as this is not an inexpensive restaurant. However, the prices were reasonable steakhouse prices, and I thought that the prime rib was actually a rather good deal. Have you ever bought a prime rib and roasted it yourself? If so, you will see what I mean. But why roast it yourself every time? I love going to Brock House. (Just as a heads up, they just recently changed their menu) My colleagues and I go in one Friday a month for the Appy Hour (4pm onwards). This is where you can get half price appetizers. You walk into the place and it's very elegant, but you can be hanging out in a casual atmosphere sense. The bar area is where we sat. I had the lobster dip. I loved it. It was delicious, creamy and had actual chunk of lobster. It's served with hot chips (I think the chips are made in house). I've heard amazing things about the cauliflower appy also. Their bar drinks were delicious. I had the Klaw and Sting like a Bee. The Klaw was a stronger taste (of vodka), but still sweet. The Sting like a Bee was super sweet. It looked like pink lemonade, but tasted like a sugar candy (my preference). The service is amazing there. I've never had a bad experience with the service staff. We'll be there in a month again! read more

I would typically drive by this place quite often and notice the many cars and thought "wow" this place must be amazing. Recently got together with some friends for a dinner event and this is my experience. Decor(5/5) Very tasteful, it kinda has a Keg vibe but more laid back. Some really cozy booths and the overall ambiance was great. Service (4/5) The service was good and our server was very pleasant and usually quite attentive. The water at the table wasn't filled up as requested, and towards the end of the evening she seemed kinda rushed to get us to pay. Other than that overall it was great. Food (2/5) Not sure if it was an off night for this place, but I ordered the veal chop 12oz. It was horrible. If felt like this chop was frozen, reheated, and put in the grill. The inside was tough! I've been to the Brock House over the past few years a handful of times, usually for dinner talks, but other times for celebrations with coworkers. Last week I went back to the restaurant for a work dinner talk. There was some appetizers on the table when I arrived and they were bruschetta - it was kind of cold, but delicious. afterwards we had 3 courses for order. I chose to have the salad, 10oz prime rib and the dessert was a default for everyone - waffles with chocolate semifreddo. The salad was good, it wasn't anything special about it - basically just some tossed greens in a vingarette dressing. some of the other people ordered the soup, but I noticed most of them did not finish it, so perhaps it wasn't anything pariticularly special. The prime rib, i have to say, was quite good. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and for 10oz, it is a big piece of meat. It came with some mashed potatoes and vegetables. the mashed potatoes were good, quite flavourful, the veggies were alright. I liked that they were not overcooked. as for the prime rib, I definitely enjoyed it a lot. I coudl only eat half of it though, but they were able to pack it for me along with my mashed potatoes. The only thing is the crust (outside) edge of the prime rib was obviously where the flavouring was heaviest, so I didn't really like that part at all and I ddin't eat it because when i tried mixing with the meat it was still too salty for my liking - overpowered the flavour of the beef. the dessert was quite good. the waffles were okay, but I found them to be a bit on the hard side (they weren't that soft and fresh). the chocolate semi-freddo was delicious, though for my personal preference it was a bit on the sweet side, but nonetheless, this chocolate semifreddo SW was a nice way to end the evening on :) read more
