He also pointed out the birds and native plants we saw throughout the trip. I always thought whitewater rafting was primarily a summer activity, but I learned that the water is actually at its lowest during the summer, so there aren't as many rapids. Our guide encouraged us to come back in the fall or winter for a more thrilling experience! The company was casual and laid-back, and they were very responsive when I accidentally booked the wrong date. They quickly adjusted my reservation without any hassle. Sunscreen was available if needed, and water shoes could be rented if you didn't have appropriate footwear. I'll definitely be back for some whitewater rafting during the cooler seasons!

I was even more excited that we did not have to actually paddle the boat as the captain was able to maneuver without our help. It was very hot that day and I did not want to mess up my outfit. Two of the best perks were 1) being allowed to bring food and drinks due to them having built in coolers in the table area. There were also extra cooler bags brought by the hostess. 2) having a bathroom on board made for an even more comfortable experience. The staff assisted with taking pictures, making sure there was a speaker for music, and simply answering any questions we might have had while aboard. There is an option to give tips and I highly recommend having cash or venmo/cashapp options as it was worth every penny to tip them. The experience was leisurely and the owner and staff set tha environment. Definitely a must try.

My friends and I were looking for something different to do so we decided to give kayaking a try. I…read moream SO glad we ended up with Spence! He's incredibly friendly, knowledgable and chill. He gave us all really good advice that we would not have known otherwise (watch the water for ripples, that's where you'll get stuck on rocks, hold the paddle exactly like this, make sure if you ever go on your own you have a life jacket on the boat otherwise you'll get fined, etc.). Best of all he's just great to be around; he's fun and chatty and you can tell he loves the outdoors and his job. I think the best way to sum it up is to say that everyone in my group left the trip and said they wanted to purchase kayaks of our own! Maybe another guided trip or two isn't a bad idea, though, as the James is a tricky river...

I called and Spence is just the nicest, most down-to-earth guy. Very calm...even after I told him that this was going to be my first time and I have no clue what I am doing or even what I should wear. 8am on a Saturday...I was not pleased...until I was in the water. Got to the site and the instruction was great! Brief, yet everything (I think) that we needed to know. He did everything...dragged the boats down the landing....held it while I cautiously got in....and off we went. I got into my own little zone and just paddled. Spence came and got me and we chatted for a bit....nice, nice guy. I cannot wait to go again!! So, for the suggestions...there are always suggestions. It would have been cool for Spence to have had everyone in the group introduce themselves. It was not until just before we ended that I found out that someone else on the trip and I work for the same company. I think the website needs some updating. Spence mentioned a moonlight paddle. This sounds wonderful to me, but I cannot find it on the site.I need to plan a bit further in advance than most people (I travel a lot) and knowing this schedule earlier would be helpful so I can plan my travel around events such as this. Maggie was also there to help guide our group on the proper way to toss and to banter with Brad which was really funny. After a few bad throws, loud bangs, and total misses, our group got the hang of it and it was a ton of fun! Tossing the stars made us feel like ninjas! Great for groups, team building, etc.

It is a serious rock climbing gym so I would make sure your kids are able to listen to and follow instruction for their and others safety. My nephew has climbed before and they definitely let him try some of the harder routes. Party room was great, staff consistently asked if we needed anything or if they could help in any way. I suggested that they update the website with the restrictions and was told they can't do that. So basically they are trying to take advantage of people deliberately. The space is quite large with seating areas and the hatchet throwing bays. There were also other forms of entertainment including an air hockey table, checkers and the eye and hook game outside. I will say there was a learning curve to figuring out how to throw the hatchets properly but the attendant was nice enough to walk us through it and give us some tips. Once I got the hang of it, I had tons of fun. We had signed up for an hour and it went by very quickly. One cool part about this place is that they have fun games that you can play while throwing including a hatchet throwing blackjack where the first person to 21 points wins. Overall, this place is a great find and the hour goes by pretty quickly here! They do serve food so I can see this being a great spot for friends or a date night!
