Completely changed my tune on this place. Go here-well worth it. Wasn't thrilled at first, but they've got their act together and the new location is awesome.

I just stopped in looking for information regarding transferring a vinyl record to a CD and these guys stopped what they were doing and helped me out. They didn't have the "service" I was looking for but they looked up other, local vendors that might be able to help me. Also they showed me a couple of alternative solutions to what I was trying to accomplish. Now THAT is customer service! I took a few minutes to look around and these "new owners" have a delightful selection of about anything you might be looking for. The store is based in vinyl, but it is also a resale show with tools, mechanical equipment and lots of vintage "stuff". I am always looking for a bargain on an oddity for me to own, so am planning to return when I have more time to browse all the hidden treasures that lurk in this shop.

It has more than most normal people could ever care about or look through. A great place for gifts or finishing off a collection. The prices are hit and miss to be honest. There's something from almost every cartoon you can think of along with movie characters and whoever. Come trade Pokémon or whatever knockoff cards. They also have a section of vinyl if you're looking for hip music. Find lots of great stuff to buy, or sell to get cash. It's hard to choose only a few things to get. Records everywhere, well-organized, catalogued in a way that's convenient and easy to find. Their selection is also amazing! I saw quite a few things there I have not see anywhere else. In terms of pricing, everything is pretty fair, dare I say a steal. They had a super rare bootleg for $100, having collected for a while that is a STEAL. I just wish the staff was nicer. The guy working was helpful, I won't deny that. However when I asked for records by a specific artist I like, his first response was to insult them pretty heavily for a controversy they got in nearly a decade ago. Now I am not a para social person--I do not hold personal investment in the perceptions people have on things I like. However I found the comments to be contradictory and rude. The store sells records by the likes of the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin--two bands I love, but two bands who are not free from controversy themselves. This immediately ruined my experience and I really hate saying that. I put down what I was going to purchase and I left. In my opinion, a response as simple as "I'm sorry, we don't carry anything by them," would have been suitable. Three stars. Cool store, great selection, good value. Unfortunately I just had a terrible personal experience there.

I finally went here a few weekends ago, after wanting for ages to visit this store. Honestly this…read morestore was SO GREAT to browse, that I wish I had visited here sooner. And the prices are really great, as well. The owner(I forget his name) was really awesome to talk to, and explained a lot about the store to me. Including the record/band/artist reference book in the front, where those artist/band and album name books used to be periodically mailed out to his record store and other stores, by a certain company. Though from what he told me, that company stopped producing those reference books by the early 2000s, sadly to say. The unfortunate thing is that too many other Chicago record stores seem a little overpriced IMO for their used records, such as for example Rattleback Records in Andersonville(Chicago) and Rediscover Records(Elgin). I'm glad this store wasn't like that for being overpriced for used records, and actually OTOH was pretty affordable. Their prices for used CDs, DVDs, and tapes was decent, as well. Yes no doubt for some people this store may be slightly out of the way. But I'd say for darn sure if you do like browsing in a record store, you should visit here at least once in your life! I do like how the inside of this store still felt pretty old school in its inside look, as well. And probably little changed, from when(I think) it first opened in the 1970s.
