I was treated badly by the front desk, person, and the person who took me back to have my eyes examined. The front desk woman with the long dark hair told me well. We don't have your results so you will have it done. The one who took me back to have the eye exam questioned me on why I didn't have my paper signed, and when I explained to her that I had pulled up results from an eye test that I had done that I was going to show the doctor. I was told that if I didn't have the test done, she would be dilating me. Now mind you, I drove myself, so I was curious to how she was going to dilate me and why she said it in such a nasty way. But because I don't like conflict, I said do what you have to do when she was done. I went back to the room and waited for the doctor. I showed the doctor the results. She confirmed that I had that test done. I wasn't apologized too. I told her what her employees had done and said to me and that they were rude to me. It was basically just looked over. my point is this is a test that would have caused me an additional $40 and I felt that the way I was treated was unprofessional. Why are you trying to force me to pay for a test that I told you that I think I had already taken and I was looking to show it to you?! The only reason why this place even gets two stars is because of the woman that checked me out. She was very sweet very pleasant and knew how to talk to a patient. I'm not hard to get along with. I do not cause a scene. I do not raise my voice, but I do expect respect. And I don't feel that's too much to ask for considering I'm paying you to do a job for me. Basically, I walked out without getting glasses from there because I would rather have my money spent somewhere else where I'm treated better.

Dr. Richardson performed my second YAG procedure (not finding a ride to/from Lex is a bonus) last week. I planned on leaving from his office to go on a week vacation until Dr. Richardson said he was prescribing eye drops and if anyone has experienced the same pharmacy delays I have you know my reaction to that! No worries though, the front desk staff googled the closest pharmacy to my vacation spot and sent the prescription there. And, gave me her cell number in case I had any problems getting it! I have the utmost confidence that Dr. Richardson knows my vision history and is treating my specific issues. My eyes never feel like they have been abused when I leave his office. He's careful, considerate, knowledgeable and never rushes. I highly recommend them!

I tried several places--one felt like a cattle call, where I was just another person being rushed in and out. Another location claimed to accept my insurance, but I was still charged $110 for a basic annual exam that should have been covered. The following year, I decided to try UK Advanced Eye Care, and I'm so glad I did. The staff is wonderful--friendly, professional, and great at what they do. But what truly keeps me coming back is Nicole. She handles the eyewear side of things and is simply the best at what she does. Nicole has helped me with my glasses in more ways than I can count. She's kind, knowledgeable, and always greets you with a smile. After three years, she's the reason I continue to return. To be clear, I go to the Turfland Mall location. Apparently, people in Lexington, KY are really on top of their eye health. It is next to impossible to get an appointment unless one takes time off from work. I have never seen a place so busy. I went through the whole exam process and I was helped every step of the way. The entire process had taken like 49 minutes! They were both very customer focused, always making sure they gave me their full, undivided attention and I mean none of that, looking at the computer and answering. Full on eye contact. That is superb customer service. But I have to write that I will miss Dr. Santos; however, I am sure she would be so pleased at how these individuals helped me today.

Fast forward to now..... HORRIBLE. Let me explain as this is the very first negative review I have EVER given. I made an appointment for my two daughters and I on a Friday. I take off work, the girls rearrange their schedules, and we go to the office at our designated time, which was confirmed with a text. There is no one there. We sit in the car for 45 minutes desperately trying to get in touch with someone, no answers. I should probably mention there were 2 other people in the parking lot doing the exact same thing. I finally get some call center a million miles away and they say that "late last night" my appointment had been cancelled, but she showed no attempt at notifying me (at least she was honest and apologetic.) Basically, I completely wasted an entire morning and I was asked to make another appointment for the next week for the girls and one the following week for myself. When the girls arrive the next Friday, they are treated poorly. The front desk staff is courteous and kind, but the doctor literally yelled and berated them during their time being examined. They left the office upset, crying, and begging me never to send them to that place again. These are tough older teenage girls who have a tough mom. I can't imagine how awful he had to be to illicit this kind of response from not one, but BOTH. Not only that, but the office that I had once trusted, completely took advantage of their naivety, and up-sold them for a crap ton of things they did not need. I have excellent eye insurance and have been getting regular exams for the three of us for a long time, I know the typicals. It was triple what I normally get charged. I guess part of this is my fault for not being able to accompany them, but never did I expect for them to take advantage of long time loyal patients. The doctor even yelled at my eldest daughter for not wanting her eyes dilated because she had to DRIVE, makes sense right? Gotta get that extra $15 dollars regardless of her safety, doc? Appalling. Seriously, appalling. So today is supposed to be my appointment. I figured I'd keep it not only because I desperately need a new glasses rx, but also because I wanted to see how I was treated and scope out any problems that maybe the girls weren't aware of that could somehow explain the stressful and negative nature I had been advised of just the week before (I'm in healthcare.) I wake up this morning to a message on my phone that my appointment has been cancelled.... AGAIN. At least this time I was notified. :( I know this was lengthy, but I truly hope my advice is taken and NO ONE subject themselves to this office. Between the blatant disregard for other people's time and schedules, the overpriced up services, and the unkind treatment, I will honestly never go back. They've lost a very loyal and expensive customer forever.
