I brought Dallas in to emergency in September 2022. He had issues with his spleen. They kept him overnight, gave him some meds and sent us on our way. On November 16, 2022, I brought him back in and after X-rays they told me that there was blood in his stomach as his spleen had ruptured! Those mother fuckers asked if I wanted to euthanize him there ! I brought him home and his vet came the next morning to let him go laying on his bed. I had another vet review the records and he told me Dallas' spleen should have been removed in September when I first brought him in. There is an emergency hospital I can totally recommend and that is Animal Emergency Center Sandy Springs. They are superb. Dr. Joel Landrum the owner is wonderful as is all the docs there. By the way BluePearl in Sandy Springs sucks as well. read more

This past Saturday my dog ate over six ounces of chocolate and I rushed her to Blue Pearl off of Howell Mill. I ran in to tell the receptionist what happened before bringing my dog in and was told that she couldn't been seen. I'm sorry, do they want a dog to die? Don't take your pet here. Ever. I took my dog to Blue Pearl after he ingested some parts of his toy. After speaking with the vet, my dog was to get fluids and I would take him home. When they brought my dog back, they gave him fluids but also gave him an anti-nausea injection; which I never consented to taking to the vet. The vet talked about medications I could give my dog in the future but giving him an injection at this time was not agreed upon. Not only is it unethical to give meds that aren't agreed upon, but it's an unwanted expense. The vet recorded our conversation and yet the treatment wasn't followed. Please do not provide care that wasn't agreed upon. Very unprofessional. When I brought the issue up to the vet tech, she was extremely dismissive and said "that's what the vet wanted." I'll be finding another emergency vet to bring my animals too. read more

First time at Blue Pearl when my baby had a seizure out of no where this afternoon. I rushed him in for an ER appointment. They got him in within 3 min of walking in the door. From the staff at the desk, to the techs and the vet I saw were all so incredibly kind and helpful and went over everything with me twice (so was very anxious and upset-my fur kids are my kids so this was scary) The doctors was thorough and kind and gave me multiple options. Did not force any treatments or tests and even helped me save money by letting me know that it would be fine to do it at my vet within a few days. The tech I spoke with could not have been kinder or more of humanist. And there was one woman at the desk who talked with me about an hour while I waited for things to finish up with helped me stay calm while I was so upset. High highly recommend and this will be our new ER in future, if I did love your vet so much I may even make this out primary vet. read more

Blue Pearl Sandy Springs had been treating my dog. He had a split Atrium from heart disease. When he began to suffer i made the decision to have him put down. I had a horrible experience here. I didn't want him to feel pain and to go quickly. I explained that. They blew one of his veins trying to put the IV in. No telling how many times they stuck him. He was practically dead when they brought him back with a purple tongue hanging out. It took 8 pushes of the button they gave me to call the Dr. even though I told him I didn't want him to suffer. My poor wonderful dog suffered more here than if he would have died at h I left him to be cremated but after 2 days I had to call them. They didn't even know where he was. I cancelled the cremation and called Paws Whiskers and Wags to come get him. Blue Pearl workers were so incompetent. I have never seen anything like it. After Mars corporation took them over it's all about the money and not the pet. I cannot get the images out of my head. read more

I'm so annoyed that Im typing this review in the parking lot. I brought my dog in for what appeared to be a GI blockage at the recommendation of my vet. Thankfully it was just a stomach ache, but the inefficient, poorly communicative operations of this location is what really has left a profoundly NEGATIVE impression on me. My dog ended up being in the back here for 6 hours, and was 3(!) hours before I was given any type of update on his initial physical exam - which I had to initiate. The doctor, while knowledgeable and empathetic, provided me with inaccurate wait times for X-rays and medications, which I also had to follow up on after literal hours of waiting. I understand being understaffed, but given how expensive this place is, I'd expect better customer service and communication to clients, particularly at an emergency facility. I WILL NOT be returning and would encourage others to think twice before sending your loved ones here. Despite the location's convenience, NEVER AGAIN. read more

We had great experiences at Blue Pearl over the past few years, but our most recent experience about a week ago was quite bad. I did notice that many of the faces looked new so perhaps they had a change in management? Not sure, but the service was quite poor from beginning to end. We came because our dog broke her dewclaw and it was bleeding. After a brief wait we were brought to an exam room. The technician took our information, then took the dog to the back and we waited in the room and waited and waited. We waited in the room for at least 30 minutes with no communication whatsoever from anyone. I finally went to the front desk where they didn't seem alarmed at all that we'd been left waiting in the room for so long, and they just said someone would return when they had news. I completely understand that it may take awhile for the dog to be attended to, but to just leave us in the room for so long without saying anything felt really odd. Eventually, a vet (that I'd never seen on previous visits) came in to share what we expected that her declaw broke and they simply removed the broken part, applied ointment and wrapped it. She told us the dog was released and asked us to go up front to pay. We paid our bill (expensive but I have no complaint there as I'm paying for the convenience - we brought her there because we were going out of town the next day and didn't want to leave her with a relative partially injured potentially). After we paid, we thought they'd bring her out and we'd be on our way. No such luck. The front desk called (on the intercom system) for her to brought out, and we waited in the waiting room - again, we waited and waited. When I asked the front desk person why it was taking so long, she called for her to be brought out again. About 5 minutes later, a technician brought her out on a leash. Since her front paw was completely wrapped (all the way up), she couldn't bend it and therefore couldn't really walk so the technician was essentially dragging her. What's so odd is that we didn't bring a leash - she's only 12 pounds so anytime I bring her to the vet I just carry her and everyone there carries her. The only time she absolutely needed to be carried (because she couldn't walk), they put a leash on her and drag her out. It was a really odd, disappointing encounter that made me appreciate our regular vet SO much more. They're efficient, friendly and clearly customer service focused. In contrast, Blue Pearl was such a disappointment. I'm not sure what happened to cause the drastic customer service decline. Hopefully, they'll get it together. read more

As someone who worked at an ER vet for many years, I know it is more likely that someone with a bad experience will leave a review than someone with a good experience. Knowing this, I want to take the time to leave a GREAT review for BluePearl Westside. I transferred my Yorkie to BluePearl Westside after he was admitted to another vet for vomiting and lethargy. When I went to visit my pet at the other vet he was covered in urine and feces, his catheter had come out, he had a bruise in his groin area (they didn't notice the catheter or the bruise, I did), and he was getting worse. I made the decision to move him to BluePearl at 1:30 in the morning. When I arrived at BluePearl Westside they immediately checked me in, and I spoke to a doctor within the next 30 minutes. The ER doctor (Dr. Lewis) was concerned about my pet and made recommendations to get him better. She was so nice and patient with me. I felt super comfortable leaving him in her care. The next morning, Dr. Davis called and gave me an update on my pet (he was improving!) and outlined a detailed plan. I immediately felt better. The other vet didn't call me ONCE to let me know how my pet was doing. Dr. Davis took the time to answer my questions and was very professional in her delivery. I am aware that caring for a pet in an emergency can be very costly, and it is always heartbreaking to see a pet owner have to make a decision about their pet based on finances. That being said, there are affordable pet insurance plans out there that can help cover the cost of a pet emergency. It's one of those things where you don't need it...until you NEED it. I was glad to have insurance for my baby and I am already in the process of being reimbursed. There are even insurance plans that will pay for your pet's treatment at checkout! Even though BluePearl was a little pricey, I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. The other vet I took my pet to was more affordable, but his care was below subpar. My baby is home now and back to his normal self. I am truly grateful to Dr. Davis and the entire team who took care of my baby and kept me informed along the way. Their primary concern was getting my pet better and making both of us comfortable, which is what matters most. Thank you BluePearl team! read more

Sadly, we had to take my Goddaughter's dog here as she was nearing the end, it was very hard on her and her mother and I had a 2 hr drive to get there to her... the staff was very kind to her and Dr Maxwell was very patient. informative and honest. And even in the aftermath, they were beyond compassionate and made sure they treated our Peppa as if she were their own prized furbaby. Don't go here! Horrible experience with BluePearl. My dog Bear was misdiagnosed multiple times under their care. BluePearl without asking gave him medication he had a severe allergic reaction to and did not tell me till hours later. The in-house technicians ordered multiple X-rays because they couldn't read them, as well as confusing my dog's X-rays with another dog's medical X-rays. I am now in huge medical debt because of their mistakes, they won't consider refunding me or admitting fault, and won't return my messages to resolve this issue... Brought my dog in due to vomiting and diarrhea. The vet provided fluids and assessed that my dog displayed symptoms of dehydration. After returning home with meds, my dog experienced labored breathing. I called and spoke to the vet and advised this was normal since vitals were not out of range. 12hrs later my dog died suddenly. Obviously, something was terribly missed and I would not have returned home with such an acutely ill dog. Emotionally devastated! I paid a considerable amount and just cant believe the unthinkable outcome. Would not recommend this place as an emergency or care option. read more

I am going out if the country and have a house sitter to take care of our two French Bulldogs. I tried to set up an account with BluePearl Westside Atlanta over the phone so that in an emergency our house sitter could bring in the dogs for service and the fees for services would go on my credit card. I was told that I could not do that and the house sitter would be responsibile for the bill. That was unacceptable for me so I called Village Vets Decatur Emergency service and they took care of it immediately and now I have an account with them and any fees go on my credit card. I will only use Village Vets Decatur and will never consider BluePearl again. you can do much better with your customer service. read more

As a physician, here is my quick take: Avoid at all costs. This review is for the WestSide location only. I brought my 15 y/o senior dog after finding a new mass in her groin and her sudden collapse. She has multiple medical problems, including cancer and diabetes. The front desk staff at time of check in was kind and courteous and just from one look at my dog, alerted triage to evaluate my dog immediately. We were put in a private room (others were waiting in the waiting room). Long story short, 15 minutes later the technician told me they were taking my dog to the back for vitals.... more than 2 hours later, my dog was still in the back. No updates. No communication. No doctor. No technician. Nothing. At this point I was worried- has something happened to my best friend while "in the back"? After requesting an update from the front-desk, the technician came out and told me Peggy's vitals were stable so it would be another 2-3 hours till she would be seen by a doctor. I asked they bring the dog to wait with me... Peggy came to me, more alert. I noted they took blood from her hind leg, the same leg with the questioned cancer (anyone in medicine knows to avoid blood draws from any infected limb or extremity with cancer etc) The tech then told me her blood sugar was 60 (this is low... and potentially explains her collapse). They did not give her any glucagon, syrup, honey etc. (hypoglycemia is an emergency). The tech then told me I could bring her back for the specialty services on Tuesday or we could continue to wait and she would be admitted thru the ED to be seen by the specialty services on Tuesday. Given the wait, the fact that her low blood sugar was not attended to, and that she was more alert I chose to take her home with plans to return to see internal medicine and oncology in a few days. The front desk called to the back, asked "Any charges for Peggy?" . I was told no charges and they explained the system for referrals. On my short drive home, I had 3-4 phone calls from BluePearl. Apparently, the technician had mixed up the lab values she read to me. I was told there was another dog named Peggy that happened to be there at the same time for an emergency. First thing in the AM, I called to get copies of her complete blood work and urinalysis. I was told that my dog did not have any labwork done and that we left before she was seen by a doctor. "We are not witholding labs". I was then told there was no record whatsoever of her labs. How ludicrious!! My dog clearly had labs taken, I have a voicemail with some of the #'s, and here they are telling me there is no record of labwork. I was told to speak to management if I had an issue with this. The front desk kept repeating the phrase "speak to management" (scripted/broken record). This is a medico-legal issue and one that I will pursue once my dog recovers. For now, let this be a warning to everyone reading this. I have since taken my best-friend to UGA Vet (which is where she should have gone in the first place... but given that she collapsed, I took her to the closest emergency vet). UGA is a top 10 teaching hospital, deservedly so. If you love your pet- and they are stable enough for the drive- please go to UGA. read more

I can't thank Dr's Lewis and Davis enough for their care for my dog. From the time I called to ensure I should bring him in to the time I walked in, most of the staff treated me with kindness, gentleness, and professionalism. They do a great job telling you what to expect and keeping you updated on your pet. They were great at explaining and repeating information when I was unclear on the clinical terms. I couldn't give them five stars for a couple of reasons. 1) No one was forthright in explaining that they do not have onsite ultrasound tech or interpreters - this may be the norm, but it seems odd for an emergency room. For x-rays, they need to be taken and a contact person is needed to interpret them. Ultrasounds can only happen during the morning hours. 2) My dog had to stay the night because he was in critical care. When they invited me back to say goodnight to him, he had thrown up in the oxygen chamber, so I had to visit him with vomit in his oxygenated area. They eventually cleaned it up. 3) Everyone was friendly. However, the tech assigned to me needed to be patient when explaining the estimate and when I asked questions about the bill details. She had little patience and spoke very matter of fact. read more

We had to bring our sweet senior dog in after a few days of poor appetite and lethargy. They were beyond attentive and prompt and brought her in on a stretcher because she was having trouble walking. Unfortunately she had a large mass and had to be put down that night. We were all heartbroken, but Dr. Lewis and the rest of the team was beyond patient and kind with us. The room for euthanasia was peaceful and we were able to have privacy with our girl in our last few moments. We didn't feel rushed and all the staff was beyond sympathetic as we were all breaking down. We miss her so much but I'm so grateful that BluePearl made her last moments more comfortable and did all they could help us get through such a hard night. read more

I'm devastated by the interactions with the front desk staff here. It seems there is absolutely no genuine care for our dog. I would not recommend this place to anyone. "Due to covid", we aren't allowed inside and have been told to wait in our car for upwards to 3 hours when it's 90 degrees out and are told we can't even leave or we will be taken off the waiting list. Our dog is crying in the car and is excessively throwing up. We live a mile down the road and just want him to be somewhat comfortable while in this much distress. Apparently, this place just does not care. Interesting how they are so concerned about the safety of the staff, yet had multiple delivery people walk in without a mask on. I doubt they truly care about any of your pets or the people who come here. Terrible service. read more

To be clear, I just came for the second time because it's a Sunday and the vet I trust it is not open. First of all you wait for hours, which doesn't make any sense because it's an emergency vet hospital, and second they take your pet and don't even allow you to go with them! We came here because our senior foster cat Snow wasn't doing well, she had been in hospice care with us and this day she woke up very weak, not able to walk and looked like she was in a really bad condition. I called BP before going and they told me to come in right away with Snow, when we arrived everything went to smoothly, we called to check in and someone came out to give us the paperwork. Shortly after, someone came out to take Snow inside for evaluation and they told us Snow was in critical condition and we decided to euthanize because her vitals were so low, so bad they couldn't even get a read on her temperature. The Doctor was so kind, so patient, and understanding of our pain... everyone we spoke with or came in contact with was nice to us and I can only imagine how hard their days must be, but regardless they treated us with genuine care and attention. We are so relieved we were able to be next to Snow during the procedure and hold her paw the entire time. Thank you BP staff! Highly recommend this hospital read more

Our family dog was dying this morning and we brought him into blue pearl. We take all of our dogs here for emergencies. Our experiences over the years have always been positive with the staff. Today it was far from it. The front desk woman with hot pink hair, named Nicole, has very poor customer service skills, she's unprofessional, carries no compassion towards clients and really to be honest has no business working there with the poor attitude she has. She should be ashamed of herself and her performance at the front desk this morning. Nicole has no idea how to perform her job skills properly. It's unfortunate that we had to deal with her while our dog was getting put down due to his medical condition. Clients pay premium prices at the hospital and there should be adequately trained staff with positive attitudes. read more

We brought our dog here around 9:00 pm after he had bitten through, and gotten his tooth stuck in his bottom lip. We were seen so quickly and they were all so helpful and calm and we were all fixed up and out of there in about an hour.
