With the event tickets, you get 10 drink tickets--these are for the breweries present. But the great part: there is a home-brewer showcase and contest. These tastes don't cost tickets! You get to try so many different, unique home brews, then vote on them! Honestly, we were more thrilled by the different home brews that we didn't use our tickets. Oh! And the "Haha" part! What a great addition to such an event. A great break in the a/c for some great laughs. You can wear your pretzel necklace inside the auditorium (thanks to Yelp for providing!) and snack while listening. We loved it and hope to enjoy the same event next year!

This…read morewas not your typical festival as it lasts something like 20 days and the events were held in multiple venues around town. I was only in town for four days. I attended the first concert, jazz, Sunday, May 24, at Dock Street Theatre. The performer/group was Mali Obomsawin. This was an interesting show. I renamed it interpretive jazz. Two songs I vibed with and the others were too contrasting for my musical ears. Music is objective so I'm not saying they were bad, just not for me. The second concert was Punch Brothers Saturday night at The Cistern located in a gorgeous park. This was the largest concert we attended as there were at least a 1000 people. This show was awesome! A bluegrass fusion band (my opinion). They were entertaining and held my attention. The last show I attended was back at the Dock Street Theatre Monday morning. This was chamber music with multiple duos and trios. The first act was Jennifer Johnson, opera singer, accompanied by a pianist. She was fabulous! All the artists were great! If you love music and the arts this is one festival you should check out!

For those that know the theater scene in Charleston, it is competitive and diverse. Threshold on Society is one of the more intimate theaters and one that has taken a number of risks over the last 5 plus seasons. This season is no exception with the new production "Of Mice and Men" starting this Thursday, January 14, 2016. In the three productions I have been able to attend and tickets for Friday, the shows have been spectacular mostly due to great content and impressive local acting talent. The theater is small, but with great sound and acoustics, the quality of the sound is outstanding. The staff from production to concessions is always so happy and appreciative. There isn't any type of elitist or snubby feel. Everyone is treated with respect and they are so glad to see you. This is truly one of the special theater companies in Charleston.

The dancing by the children at the end of the day is something to see. Don't miss this. But oh the parking! Terrible. Yes, it's a local community with small streets, yes there are restrictions, yes there is free buses. But, waiting for them, riding them, lines, lines, lines. Not very pleasant.
