First time stepping into the Sottile Theatre and seeing the Nutcracker ballet performance live showcased by the Mt Pleasant Performing Arts Company. It was perfect timing for me to notice the performance dates because I've been meaning to see this show especially as a way to kickoff December in a festive spirit. I admire ballet and the work that goes into each performance. For the theatre itself, the acoustics were good, the chairs comfy, and the interior nicely decorated. It did feel a bit chilly after sitting a bit so make sure to pack some layers. College of Charleston takes care of the facility and it's nice to see it run by students. Ordering tickets online was mega simple and easy to follow through. They offer will call, text, or email options for your tickets. When you enter you can walk straight down to the lower level for the restrooms and depending on the show they sell items related to the performance in the gift shop. Would love to return again to this theatre. Great ambiance.

Neat little theater at the edge of the college of Charleston. Newly renovated with murals on the wall and a star scene ceiling. We have been here for a number of Charleston chamber music events and find it a nice place to see them. Is about half the size of the Galliard, making it more intimate.

Sottile is an old theatre that's been updated in a major way. It still has that old feel through the style and architecture though which truly makes this theatre unique. At around 800 seats, this is medium to large sized theatre for the peninsula. There's no bad seat in the house and you can tell that the aesthetic attention to detail was an important factor in the overhaul. Like many older theatres in the area, there are no cup holders on the seats. I know this seems like a marginal detail, but when beer bottles are being sold to everyone coming through the door, 800 bottles can be pretty noisy. I went to two comedy shows here for the Charleston Comedy Festival and both of the headliners stopped the show to comment on how ridiculous the bottle clanking/rolling on the floor noises were. Being that these were both comedy shows, the comics made a joke out of it, but I could see this being extremely disruptive to any other type of performance. Seems like it should have been addressed in the re-model. Aside from the disruptions, I thoroughly enjoyed the theatre and the layout. I absolutely look forward to attending more performances here in the future. Maybe it's time to switch to canned beer though.

It was great. We watch the Nutcracker and our neighbor was the snow queen. They all did a fantastic job, and the theater was beautiful.

General admission on the first floor including all seats and the floor is amazing ... not a bad seat in the house ... and they don't seem to oversell the shows. We attended **The Charleston Christmas Special** at the Charleston Music Hall, with tickets coming…read moreout to about $75 per person after taxes and fees, and overall it just wasn't for us. The Charleston Music Hall itself is a beautiful, historic venue--intimate, well-maintained, and known for hosting concerts, comedy shows, and special events. The seating is comfortable, sightlines are good, and acoustics are solid, which definitely worked in favor of the vocal performances. The singers were clearly talented and did a great job vocally--everyone sounded wonderful, and there's no denying the performers can sing. However, we personally felt that the show didn't quite feel like a full "production." It leaned heavily on straightforward singing, with limited storytelling, choreography, or theatrical elements to tie everything together. This may come down to expectations and personal preference. Growing up around Broadway shows in NYC, we're used to more dynamic, story-driven performances with larger production value, and this didn't quite meet that standard for us. While others may enjoy it for the music and holiday spirit--especially in a cozy venue like the Charleston Music Hall--we would probably not attend again, particularly considering the ticket price.
