My review with the Mobile Klinik, Sherwood Park location, begins when I received a notification on…read moremy phone regarding a charging issue with my Pixel 6a. Google issued a warranty service announcement regarding the battery where there was greater potential for battery failure/explosion after receiving 375 charging cycles. As my phone reached this level, I was informed by Google to get my battery replaced under warranty at an authorized repair centre. The closest Google authorized repair centre near me is Mobile Klinik, Sherwood Park location. I received Googles battery notification just prior to Christmas. Upon checking online for verification that I qualified for replacement, I contacted Mobile Klinik and spoke to one of their technicians, explained the situation. Mobile Klinik had the battery in stock, however, due to the nature of the repair, often times the screen will need to be replaced due to cracking while disassembling the phone. As I needed a new screen anyways, a choice was made to hold off on the repair until a replacement screen could be sourced and provided. I called mid January to check on the progress of my repair and was informed that another Mobile Klinik had replacement screens for my phone and arrangements had been made to transfer the screens to the Sherwood Park location. Calling the following week, while speaking with a female at the store, I was informed that no record of my repair was pending. Further, I was told that the battery was not covered under a warranty repair (as per Google) and I would be charged for the battery, screen (which I would have been anyways) and all labour. The quote was in excess of $300.00; far more than what my phone is worth. Needless to say, I didn't follow through with the work. Returning to Google, I proceeded with an alternative pathway for compensation for the defective battery and received a pay out for USD$100.00, transferred to my bank account. I went online and sourced a new screen and battery for my phone at a fraction of the price quoted by Mobile Klinik and will be conducting my own repair of which I am more than capable of. I would not recommend and will not proceed with the Mobile Klinik Sherwood Park location for any repair or purchase going forward.

Phoned Memory Express on the South side of Edmonton and Reese, (a human being), answered and understood what I needed and exactly how to procure it. At the moment, they are just not able to answer the phones due to sheer volume and staffing, so calling for curbside or other information is not possible. It's a pandemic...everyone take a breath, they will still help you out - and with a smile! There is NO in-person shopping. I'd definitely recommend shopping online, getting all your screen shots or part numbers on a list before you arrive to not waste the staff's time as they are BUSY. I arrived and the parking lot wasn't very busy - good sign. There were only a couple of folks ahead of me, and the floor is clearly marked for physical distancing, and someone was at the door to direct guests. Staff were all super busy, and I went late at night to avoid people... the staff were cheerful, HELPFUL, and went to great lengths to find the borescope/endoscope camera I came for (the website said there were 8 in stock,) so it was just a matter of finding their hiding spot. It took two staff to locate it, and locate it they did. I felt safe, staff sanitized the PIN pad after every guest, and I witnessed frequent cleaning by all the staff at the registers. I like to shop local... a lot, and I want to keep my IT peeps fed and housed. I like having a local shop that I can return or exchange items if there's an issue, and Memory Express does that and more for my personal and work needs. Ordering online... you can do that too! They definitely ship, and I wouldn't hesitate except I needed it sooner than later to check my vent for birds/nests - yes it's November/December, but I don't want to block any feathered friends inside before putting on the screening! The only location offering Curbside right now is in Manitoba, however, with the upcoming new restrictions in Alberta, check with them on Monday...that may change!

The shop itself is located next to the BMO in the Longstreet strip mall across from the Oliver Safeway. Their proximity to home made them very appealing to use haha. Each time, basically I brought the laptop in, explained the problem, and the young Asian guy had a preliminary idea of what the issue was and would explain what he thought. (There is also an older Asian guy who works there but I think he's just there to accept new items as he barely speaks English.) There is a diagnostic fee - left it overnight - and he would call if he thought there would be additional charges. In Vista case, the laptop wouldn't get past the loading screen, but the guy was able to extract the hard drive and put it into an external drive (minimal cost), which ended up working out and we were able to recover all the documents. In the Windows 7 case, he wasn't able to recover the hard drive (fortunately I had backed it up not too long before), but he switched out a piece that he thought was faulty (minimal cost) and re-installed Windows 7 for me. So overall, I am happy with A-Computer's services. However, the guy noted that they don't touch personal stuff, so he wouldn't be able to fix stuff related to personal documents on the hard drive.
