The gym is quite small and had one broken treadmill that didn't have a sign so I'm not sure if staff are aware of it. Our rooms didn't include breakfast, but we were excited to try it. We ended up disappointed because the hostess gave us two menus and told us to sit anywhere. There's prices for a la carte and buffet and we opted for the buffet and just went up to get food. A staff member stopped us and asked if we were doing the buffet and then told us she'd bring us the bill so we could sign our room. It felt like maybe a staff member should have brought us to our seat and asked us what we wanted to prevent being stopped at the food counter and having guest and staff play a guessing game. The breakfast selection is mediocre. Another table was sat and the staff member who stopped us was quick to go to their table and explain the menu choices to them so I'm not sure if it's a lack of consistency or if they need more staff during the breakfast shift because it seemed like it was just her and the hostess working. Staff was also slow to clear tables.

After reviewing the map of the Auckland central business district (CBD) and where the Sky Tower was, I knew I wanted to stay by the harbor, with a view and reasonably priced. That's when I came across M Social Viaduct Harbor. From Google Maps and looking at YouTube videos, the hotel was in the midst of it all. My first encounter with them was a few weeks earlier when I learned that M Socials last check-in time was midnight. Unfortunately, because my flight was schedule to land at 9:45 pm, having to get through customs and waiting for Uber, we'd be cutting it close. So I emailed M Social and they assured me that we could check-in after midnight, no rush since they knew how long customs could take. What a relief. When we got there, a little after 11 pm, I was told our room was upgraded to the 12th floor which is the highest floor. I was told "The harbor view is great up there." And it is!!! All the rooms face the harbor and all rooms have a view!!! The higher you are the better the view. And when we got to our room, we had a signed card from the employees along with Easter candy because I didn't realize it was Easter weekend when I booked our flights. The room was clean with modern and youthful aesthetic. And the price? I can't believe it is one of the least expensive hotels along the harbor. It was between $129 - $189/night. Of course, Weekends are higher price. And, laundry is free. We just had to pay for laundry detergent. No dryer sheets in Auckland, though. People in NZ said I had an American accent. But they're the ones with accents... lol. Auckland is also a melting pot. The front staff were mainly Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese. So they had their native accent along with the English accent. But everyone was so kind to us. And they have a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night socializing. Although we only had apps and drinks, the food was really good and non-alcoholic drinks were refreshing. As much as I want to gatekeep M Social, I also want to praise the staff members and hope everyone can enjoy your time staying at this wonderful establishment.

There's a small coffee shop next door with small bites for breakfast, and a convenience store two doors down, but no other food on the premises. However, good food is within a ten minute walk, so that was no problem! This hotel was centrally located to shops, restaurants, and some local sights. However, it's in a sort of out of the way cul de sac, so some buses may have trouble getting in. Not a problem - just make arrangements together rides near the Sky Tower or at the church at the end of the block. This, like most of Auckland, is a bit hilly. Prepare to go up and down hill a lot. Good tv and good wifi were pluses. Comfortable and clean. I was a bit disturbed by the lack of a deadbolt on the door, and for some reason, there was a door to another room attached to mine, but I couldn't open it (and I heard my "neighbors" try it as week, which was unnerving.) Nice place if you're staying in Auckland for a few days.

The room is a good size! It's not huge, but it has everything you could want -- a full kitchen (oddly, missing paper towels), space to move around, a TV with some good options and a nice bathroom (stay tuned). There's even a washer and dryer! Staff is so friendly -- they were really my first introduction to New Zealand, and I was really pleased. Now, some words of caution: * This hotel is on a hill. Auckland itself is full of hills. Unless you're taking a taxi, Uber or driving, you're going to have to walk uphill from the bus stop. It's rather steep. * Housekeeping is interesting. They made my bed and emptied the trash bin, but that's it. No towel service. * The bathtub in my room was rather gross, with pink mold around the caulking. A bit of bleach would fix that up. It's a bad blemish on an otherwise stellar stay! * Wifi is horrendous. I don't know if this is a NZ thing or unique to this property, but I'm glad my phone got a decent LTE signal here so I could use it. If you prepare with these things in mind, your stay will be a nice one. I'd come back (but I'd also probably go buy some bleach and paper towels).

A lot of place I've stayed at didn't have AC. The staff were nice and friendly they have a super shuttle for an affordable price that picks you up and brings you to the airport. ($46nzd for two people) the room itself is clean they provide toiletries and clean towels. Very satisfied with my stay here! The bus is three min walk away to city center and wifi is free! There's A tv with a good amount of shows and the beds and pillowed smelled clean and fresh unlike some other motels I've stayed at

My only small issue was that the walls are very thin so we could clearly hear the people next door talking & laughing when we were in bed but everyone went to sleep around the same time so it ultimately didn't matter much! Some people thought the scrambled eggs were too runny, but I like it like custard This was so runny you have to drain the liquid out of the spoon before putting in your plate. The breakfast selection was not large, but gets the job done. The Wi-Fi was so slow. But on the day I checked out and had to wait in the lobby till 2 pm to board the ship, I told the front desk how slow THE CUT wifi was, that my email would not send. She put my phone on a different wifi and the email sent right away and wifi was no longer a problem. Location is two blocks from shopping and eating places, but mostly takeout food , pub stuff, I did not see really nice sit down restaurants.

It has a great history and ambience, and served a decent cheese platter for our group to share. The hotel has 25 unique rooms, and its indoor atrium used to be an outdoor alleyway, It was really mesmerizing to see how the architects chose to incorporate the old, while bringing in necessary modernities. I thought the cheese plate (including some NZ cheeses, nuts, and fruits) was OK. New Zealand is proud of their cheeses. What really made the trip was this room/atrium...definitely worth a place to stop in for a social drink.
