This is now amongst our new favourites in Melbourne. So why only four stars? Well... the debate at our table came to the conclusion that you can't give a place 5 stars when you've only been once. I know Melbourne is expensive, but with 100k Chinese places to choose from, I think I will spend my money on excellent rather than merely good Chinese food. In addition, the service was very bad. I waited for at least 20 minutes after I was finished for my food to be removed and then waited for another 15-25 minutes to get my bill. I never did get the bill. For my main, I had the chicken fried rice and though it was really nothing to look at (presentation left much to be desired) the food was very good. The kitchen honoured our requests for changes to the dishes, and the mains also came out in reasonable timing. From a pricing point of view, I think it was very reasonable. Mains were in the mid teens, and on a par with other small Thai restaurants. Overall ... would I come back again? If I was in the area, I'd definitely come back again. There wasn't anything really bad about it here at all. Considering it's almost a 30 minute drive from home to it, I'd be more inclined to try elsewhere first. But if you find yourself in Sandringham and want a good Thai meal, give this a try for sure.

Well! Not only did they not have Danish bread, they didn't have any bread. At all. I was not a happy camper. In their defense, it was later on in the afternoon, so maybe all the bread had sold out. But it was not, despite the framed 1980's posters displaying Denmark's beauty, a Danish bakery. I was lied to by the internet! I'm guessing the Cultural Society has had it on their list for some time, but failed to notice that it's changed hands and is now just a run-of-the-mill Australian bakery. There's nothing wrong with standard suburban bakeries - in fact, I'm generally a fan - but my boyfriend has been talking up the wonders of Danish bread for weeks now, so we made a special trip out to Bentleigh, hangovers and all, only to be disappointed. I'm just glad Bentleigh has such a wealth of junk stores and op shops so the trip wasn't a complete waste of time.
