After moving to Bluffton a few months ago and not getting any recommendations for hair stylists, I did some research and found Bluffton Hair Lounge. They seemed to have pretty good reviews so I gave them a try. So glad I did! Coty did a great job cutting off my hair, which I could not control in the humidity here! She gave me a short and very manageable pixie, which I love! If anyone asks me, I will definitely recommend her and this salon. read more

Red Flag, that's what every smart consumer needs to know about this salon. When you look for a salon for your beauty needs steer clear. You usually have booked appointments but you also get canceled all the time and they usually have you rebook when it's convenient for them not you, the customer. associates like Jennie love to cancel your appointments so she can take care of her needs first. You are a second class customer because you're not that important and she definitely puts you aside with no care. So why waste your money and time at a place with associates that couldn't care less about you. read more

Jenny Martinez should be reported. I witnessed complete neglect to a young client. Client was given a hair treatment. Jenny left and locked herself in the bathroom presumably to smoke weed since she reaked of it. The client came to my stylist to complain that her scalp was burning. He went to get Jenny telling her it was emergency as there was literally smoke coming off her scalp. She took ten minutes to come out. No one did anything for her. She cried the entire time. Jenny admitted that she didnt have enough product so she mixed three left over products instead. She refused to wash the hair off then used a blow drier making the client scream in pain so much she left the salon with wet hair and towel around neck. And Jenny had the audacity to charge her then cancelled her schedule and left. I don't know who that woman is, but please go to a doctor, get a report, and sue. That was obscene and she is still employed. read more

They are awesome. I highly recommend this salon. Prices are reasonable, everyone is very friendly and helpful. Jenni cut my hair exactly how I wanted and suggested a gloss treatment, which turned out great. My hair looks much healthier and the gloss is exactly the color I like. I booked a haircut here because my friend recommended it however I should have read reviews and looked more into it because I did not have the best experience here. I booked a trim and blow dry and no style however Jose went in to style my hair. He didn't ask what style I wanted but just quickly went ahead to do it. I also asked for layers and the way he did them I've never had them look like this before. If I knew he was going to make my layers look choppy I would have told him I wanted something more blended. I went in thinking I was going to pay around $50 but nope. Almost $100 for a hair cut and style I didn't love. Before paying I asked them if this was just for the cut and dry and they said yes. So I am assuming that's what it was, maybe they raised their prices and he styled it for free? It was my birthday so I ended up rinsing and redoing my hair before going out to celebrate. Overall I feel like I did not have much of a say when it came to my hair and what I wanted. I thought when I said long layers he would have known how to do it the way I wanted. The hair salon back home in PA I go to will be where I will be getting my hair cuts from now on (I'm here for college). When I say long layers - they do it right and they're way more welcoming and friendly. They ask questions every step of the way which is what every salon should do. I rarely give low ratings, but I wanted to share my experience with Bluffton Hair Lounge. First of all, I never got my hair done. Let me put that here first. Why? I never got a chance. I was canceled twice and then never contacted again. Over e-mail, during my hair assessment, the exchanges were very mild and bland, no thank you's, just commands (this didn't bother me at the time, but I noticed it to be strange). No quotes as well, so I had no idea what I would be charged at my appointment. The first time, I was canceled because the hairdresser, Dee, had overbooked her day. We rescheduled for two weeks after. On the day of my appointment, she canceled again, just by Dee saying, "I'm at a class I won't be in today." No apology and no offers to rebook. When I asked for a rebook, I got no answer. I get that people can be busy, but they're needs to be communication and friendliness to the people who are willing to spend money at this salon. I am not the only one with this experience due to the many other similar reviews. There are so many other hair lounges in Bluffton that I wouldn't even waste time trying to rebook here. I don't live in Bluffton anymore, but if I did, I would go somewhere else. read more

Okay I really don't write reviews but I hope this helps someone. I use to have really long virgin healthy hair that I wanted layered and trimmed nothing crazy. My hair stylist was really nice but also in a rush because she had to leave is what she told me. My hair is 6inches shorter than what it was when I asked for a trim and she just kinda cut hair aimlessly. Now my hair is botched. Longer pieces on top in the front and short in the back and on the bottom. I use to love this salon but needless to say I'm kinda traumatized and will not be going back read more

Booked an appointment, waited a week. When I showed up they did not have my appointment scheduled. The girl at the desk offered me another appointment for another day but offered no apology for the inconvenience. My time is precious, I am a working mother of two who rarely does anything for herself so I was pretty crushed because I had really wanted to get my hair done. I have been a loyal patron of Bluffton Hair Lounge. In fact I first started going there when they first opened about 15 years ago. I have only gone to 2 different stylists there in the whole 15 years. They were Haircutech's when I first started with them. Like I said, I have been a loyal customer. I am in sales myself and know the saying that "people will never remember what you did for them, but they will always remember how you made them feel. " I have never been made to feel very special at all as a customer at all. Times have been rough during this pandemic for sure. I stood with them and "saved my roots" for them as they asked. But I have just been put off and put off. I suspect that it is because I only go every 3 months or so and am probably not considered a big money maker. But I have to say that when I do go I spend a good bit of money on service and product and tip. I deserve to be treated like a valued customer. I have never felt like a valued customer at all. I have looked past the years of my stylist never remembering what side I parted my hair on. And having to explain every time if I liked it flipped out or under. If I was a valued customer they would remember those things. I stayed because I don't like change and I did like the results when I went. Even though it was kind of like the first time every time I went. But lately, I'm not feeling the love at all even more than usual. I am afraid it's time to look for a new salon. read more

First time having my hair done in SC. Was a nightmare. Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance with specific instructions from my stylist in Nj(who as been doing my hair for years). Val gave me the redkin formula she uses which is called a break buster. Very simple procedure. When making the appointment first question was do you use redkin products. I was assured the stylist did use redkin and was familiar with the process.. got to my appointment a very nice stylist was behind the desk said she would be doing my hair. Long story short after repeated calls to redkin rep and not sure about process. Come to find out she was not original stylist I requested. Than to add insult to injury she wanted me to sign a waiver incase there was a problem and she was only doing color process the stylist I originally thought was doing my hair was just doing the cut!!! Seems they over booked so instead of reaching out to me in advance they made changes without my knowledge or approval. I Walked Out Never to Return!!! Very poor customer service. Reception failed to take responsibly for screw up. Rating 000! read more

José did my hair right after COVID allowed them to open back up. I was slightly nervous and apprehensive about getting my hair done so soon after reopening. They not only took this into consideration, but took time to talk with me and explained all of the precautions that were being taken to ensure all remained just as safe and healthy before, during, and after the appointment. Not to mention my hair looks AMAZING! He did full highlights and cut and blowdried my long, insanely thick hair in three hours. Amazing! HORRIBLE. Takes forever to get a call back to try to make an appointment. When I did finally get one, got a text confirmation of the appointment, got another confirmation the day before the appointment, and finally, the day of appointment I drove 50 minutes to get there, and they were closed. There was 1 stylist inside, but had the doors locked. After minutes of knocking on the windows, she finally opened the door. I showed her my appointment confirmation on my phone. She said there was nothing she could do. Didn't apologize or anything. I asked her to call a manager, she said they don't have one. I asked her to call the owner, Jose, who was ACTUALLY the guy supposed to be giving the haircut, and she refused. She said that if I wanted to sit and wait until she was done with her client, in 30 minutes, she would call him afterwards. UNBELIEVABLE. They are overpriced, but I would still drive all the way out there and pay their overpriced rate because my teenage son has been getting his hair cut there for years, and this is the respect and service a loyal customer gets? Enough is enough... Too many alternatives out there to not show up for a scheduled appointment, and then to not try to attempt service recovery. Their posted time of operation is until 6pm (website and on the door). But at 4:40pm, 5 minutes early for the appointment, they had the doors locked because the owner wanted to leave early. I sat with color on my hair for two and a half hours!!!!! It was another hour before I got out of there! They didn't blow dry or style my hair because at that point I was over it. Had dye on my face and during shampoo had my hair pull four times and when I flinched the stylist said oh I got you good and laughed. DO NOT GO HERE! I asked for a light brown dye (even brought in a reference) and they dyed my hair bright orange! In an attempt to be reasonable, I requested to be refunded for just the color. The owner of the business was completely unprofessional and unnecessarily nasty during this negotiation -- yelling, interrupting, the works. It was impossible to even get one word in. All in all, I ended up paying $140 to be transformed into Ronald McDonald, uncalled for drama, and incredibly poor customer service. read more
