I came to Blush at the recommendation of people in town when looking for a new hair stylist. I have pretty bad hair loss/damage/thinning/breakage due to a medical condition. My hair was also pretty heavily colored treated (at home by me via box dyes ). I met with Rachel who absolutely knocked it out of the park. She was able to give me exactly what I wanted (honestly it came out much better than I thought it could!) Rachel was so sweet/fun and was really good about testing/checking what my hair could handle. Oh my goodness. I discovered Blush via Yelp as I'm getting married away from my hometown and needed to find someone closer to my venue. I reached out via email to ask about wedding styles and prices and was immediately drawn to this salon based on how quick they were to respond and helpful they already were via email. I decided to book hair and makeup services with the salon for my engagement photos to use as a trial for my wedding and I was absolutely blown away by Heather. I had warned her advanced of the absolutely massive amount hair that I have, but it was no match for her. It took quite a bit of time to wrangle both my hair, and do my makeup, but it was more than worth it. I ended up walking out of the salon feeling like a million bucks. And, on top of that, the time flew by as Heather was so nice to chat to and really made me feel great about having her there with me on the morning of my wedding. Someone suggested I try Madyson with Blush salon in grass Valley. Not only did Madyson take me on immediately, she gave me a beautiful cut! I'm usually somewhat difficult to work with for my hair, as I know exactly what I want yet lack the knowledge of hairstyles to be able to express my needs precisely. At my stylists discretion, I got my most favorite haircut!! Thank you April Cose! There has been an ongoing battle trying to manage long hair that I now feel wasn't meant for me. Feeling protective over my 'dead-mop', I finally surrendered and put all my faith into April and she absolutely sent me off feeling extatic over my cut. It was quick, fun, and just an all around fantastic experience! Oh ya, I was also able to meet with a professional photographer that took up residency in the back room of Blush! I went to the Blush Salon about two months ago. I wanted a little bit of blonde put in my hair, and I mean a little bit. I told her that I did not want to walk out of her salon with a $100.00 Hair Do. She did put in a very little bit of blonde into my hair and it looked horrible. When I went to leave, she charged me $100.00. I looked at her and said "Are you kidding me" No Way!!!! I reluctantly paid $85.00 and then left. I will NEVER go there again. Never had my hair done professionally before so I decided to go here for a balayage and came out literally crying. My hair was destroyed. I cried for three days straight. I wanted a refund but they didn't want to give it to me they just told me to come back for a tone. The toner made it more presentable but I was still unhappy. Will never go there again. read more

My wedding was last week and I originally booked Lisa for my bridal hair. She ended up canceling a few days before my wedding for a family emergency, and sent Heather over to do my hair instead. I have to be really honest .. I thought both Lisa and Heather do fantastic with hair ... I was incredibly pleased with the hair that Heather did for my wedding, and she showed up on time and I was fortunate that she was available on short notice for my wedding. HOWEVER, there was a communication issue that really affected my wedding: I specifically asked both Lisa and Heather how long my hairstyle would take. They both told me "about an hour." I thought that was awfully short for a wedding hairstyle, but stupid me, I trusted the hair pros! and mentally allotted an hour and a half to hair on my wedding day because I had a million other things to think about. I also let both hair stylists know that I would be doing my own make up after my hair (Yikes! Why did I do elect to do my own make up on my wedding day? Talk about more stress) and needed ample time to dress, and that I wanted to be done with hair by a certain time, which I specified. I got to the venue a few min late but thought, No sweat, we still have plenty of time for hair because I allotted an hour and half to that. But as Heather worked on my hair, and the clock kept ticking upwards of two and half hours (plus some minor interruptions in between), I started to panic. Ceremony was supposed to start at 4 and it was about 3:15 by the time I was paying Heather and sending her on her way. I was still in shorts and bare-faced. My guests were arriving and the photographers were already there. Ugh!! Heather seemed kind of unaware that I had fifteen minutes to do make up, fifteen minutes to dress, etc before walking down the aisle on one of the biggest days of my life. It was utterly impossible to get ready that fast, and I am kicking myself for not clarifying adequate time with Heather prior to my wedding. I was completely rushed, ceremony was an hour late, and I walked down feeling frazzled, irritated, and not put together at all - not at all how I wanted to be feeling when I got married. I just really wish when they said, "an hour," I had at least doubled or tripled that so that I would have had time to calmly prepare for my wedding, instead of breaking out in hives because ceremony was supposed to start in 45 min and I was still in my shorts and didn't have a lick of make up on. I really, really, really wish the hairstylists at Blush Salon would have been realistic from the get-go and said, "Look, we're going to have to start at such-and-such time if you want to be done by 2 pm. We are aware that you still need to do make up and dress, and that takes more than 15 minutes, especially on your wedding day! So we suggest meeting at ______." As a bride, I don't want to be stressing about hair and timing issues on one of the most important days of my life. I would have been happy to meet with Heather much earlier in the day had I known it was going to take 2 1/2 hours, but I think there was a lack of awareness and communication to prevent that, and I am cringing looking back at my wedding, thinking "If only ...." If only I had thought to double or triple my time for hair, instead of taking their word for it that it would be around an hour, it would have lessened my stress considerably, ceremony would not have started an hour late, and I would not have lost an hour of daylight for photography or an hour better spent with my family and friends who were sitting there waiting for me to hurry up. read more

Formerly Danae Marie's, Blush salon has the same fantastic stylists that are all incredibly talented and incredibly kind. I went in for a consultation and met Lisa 3 years ago now and she has been the BEST stylist ever! She is the master of blondes!, I trust her so much that I just tell her, "do what you think will look good!" And give her free reign and I've NEVER been disappointed. She takes her time and is a perfectionist, and I always leave with the most beautiful cut and color. Seriously, if you are a blonde you need to go to Lisa. The atmosphere is relaxed, all the women there are hilarious and fun to be around! They constantly go to classes to stay up to date on the latest in the beauty world- techniques, products, and it shows! I'm moving for school soon, but I will definitely be flying back on breaks because I won't let anyone else touch my hair! Love these ladies, call and schedule an appointment, you won't be disappointed!
