I have very fine hair, and Gillian used a razor texturizing technique on it that completely destroyed the shape and integrity of my haircut. It looked okay when styled in the salon, but once I got home it was obvious how uneven, awkward, choppy, and over-thinned one side had become. My hair no longer falls naturally or smoothly, and the ends now look frayed and damaged rather than cleanly cut. I have honestly never been this dissatisfied with a haircut before. I ended up having to go to another stylist to try to fix it, and even they told me there's only so much that can be corrected right now without taking off even more length. I was advised not to cut my hair again for several months so it can grow back enough density to reshape properly. I also think clients should be clearly warned before razor cutting or aggressive texturizing techniques are used, especially on very fine hair, since many people may not realize how dramatically it can change the texture and density of the cut. If you have very fine hair, I would strongly recommend being extremely cautious about razor cutting or aggressive texturizing techniques. read more

Beautiful, elegant, skilled! My appointment with Maddy was great! She took the time to listen to what I was hoping to get done and she delivered perfectly. I am a simple lady with simple needs and usually stylists try to talk me into more than I want. But Maddy compassionately and professionally helped me achieve the look and hair treatment I was dreaming of. The salon is cute and classy with that steampunk meets mountain festival meets playful art vibe that Nevada City is known for. They have bubbly water! You must go see the bathroom theme! Unless you hate Ryan Gosling- then do not go in the bathroom. I can't wait to book with Maddy again. read more

Maddy has been the best thing I could've ever done for my hair!!! I have frequently been getting lightening services for the last 10+ years. Maddy listens to every word I say, asks follow-up questions, collaboratively creates a plan with me, explains exactly what she's going to do, and what the process will be. She cares so much about keeping the integrity of my hair while still making my blonde dreams come true. I appreciate her skills, vibe, positive attitude, honesty, and caring demeanor so much! Maddy's station is extremely clean, well maintained, and in a great place downtown with parking. She is the best vibe! read more

5 stars plus plus plus!! What a gem and I feel so lucky to have found Tomi and her salon! It was my first time here and came from having the same lady for years in another city that knew my hair. Not only did Tomi listen to all that I hoped to achieve with lightening my super dark, curly, fine hair but she got the color better than any stylist I have had. So appreciated the warm atmosphere and good conversations, too. She made the time comfortable and really knows how to lighten us dark hair girls trying to avoid going orange. read more

I wanted a french bob, and got exactly what I wanted! :) The inside is very cozy, and Sarah was very easy to talk to, will be a repeat customer. Way worth the price.. little side note, I've traveled a bunch and got cuts all over, but this is the softest my hair has felt after a shampoo and conditioner- love what they're using. read more

Tomi is absolutely genius in her craft! She works at providing her clients with the best possible color choices that fit the individual. Whether it's a color that is currently used or for a new color/look. She's fast but definitely not sloppy! Just watching her work is fascinating...so much going on yet she still has her mindset invested in you, the client. What's more is the whole vibe in her salon...awesome! Decor is fun, interesting and relaxing. A glass (or 2?) of wine and snacks are also a part of her offerings, along with some stimulating conversations with other clients and the staff makes your visit even more enjoyable. I met her nearly 1 year ago, after having a botched job from a previous artist. Tomi took on this horrendous task without complaint and turned my ugly ducking into a fairytale swan!! I love my hair and my hair artist! Thank you, Tomi, for making me feel beautiful! read more

First time visit for me was a huge success! Tomi was super friendly and listened to what I wanted. She also took the time to make sure the back of my cut was just right. I SO appreciate a stylist who clearly cares about their final product. Tomi also was incredibly kind and gifted me a product set at the end of our session. I am a Camp Fire survivor and she just took it upon herself to offer me an additional gift (besides my amazing cut). That is true customer service. I most definitely have found a forever shop. read more

Tomi is a super skilled stylist & colorist. She's the only person in town I trust to do my hair after years of driving to SF salons. She also helped me correct a color mishap by another stylist bringing my yellow hair back to a nice golden blonde. Also the salon space itself feels great to be in with unique beautiful decor, plants & all around good vibes! I love Lady Stardust. read more

I have been going to Ashli for years for everything from a cut and color to make up for special events. She always does a flawless job, no matter the task. Our appointments are always so much fun visiting, I typically stay for a while after to spend Moe time catching up with all the lovely ladies in the salon. Tomi and Ashli also did the makeup and hair for my wedding last year. We had such a great time with them, I felt like we were old friends by the end. Everyone looked absolutely flawless thanks to them and everything held up for the many hours of shaking it to on the dance floor deep into the night! On top of the wonderful staff, Lady Stardust is one of the most beautiful salons I've ever visited. It's so warm and cozy and always impeccably clean and well decorated. I have now been a loyal client for years and plan on continuing to be for many more to come! Thank you ladies! You're simply THE BEST! read more

This salon is AWESOME! Looking for a new salon near my new home/life in Grass Valley, i found Michelle! She's amazing and my hair has never looked healthier after she trimmed off a bunch of 'blonde death'. Thanks, Michelle! read more

Love this salon! Michele was my stylist and she did an amazing job. My hair was in desperate need of a color and cut, and she took her time fixing it. She did exactly what I asked and I couldn't be happier. I wanted a magenta bayalage with an A line, and that's what I got. It was definitely a long appointment but like I said, she wanted to make sure it was right plus she's fun to talk to so the time honestly flew by! The salon itself is super cute with a vintage/eclectic vibe and art and plants all around. Worth the drive from Rocklin! Make it a day, get your hair done, have lunch, and check out the beautiful views! read more

I hated my hair until I started going to Tomi! I would constantly resort to the ponytail after years of bad haircuts. The ponytail went on for nearly 15 years! But now I LOVE MY HAIR! It is short, fun, and sexy! Everywhere I go people say how great I look! It is all about the hair! When your hair looks good, you just plain feel good! When I sit down in the chair I often think I want something different, but don't know what. I trust Tomi enough to give her some direction and let her do the rest. And she does AMAZING work, making me look better than I could have ever imagined every time! I won't go to anyone but Tomi! read more

What a great salon experience! Jade, my bombshell stylist, has serious talent. She always gives me the perfect "I woke up like this" (literally) haircut. Im a beach girl relocated to the mountains, and I'm always impressed with how naturally she can recreate the perfect bouncy beach hair! Not only that, but she never over-processes... I barely need conditioner! Then, after just a few quick snips, I'm walking out of her gorgeously decorated salon with a cleaned up style that enhances all my natural waves, maintains my length.... and it took me days to find a single split end! Not sure how the heck she does that. Everything she touches comes out super. All while I enjoy thoughtful, down-to-earth conversation in the chair. Jade is so good at what she does, and has become a great friend too! Many thanks, Jade. You're a rockstar. read more

Today was my first time to try Tomi who owns the salon. My expectations were surpassed. She did the best cut that I have had in years. I have blond hair and too many times stylist make it look choppy. She spent the time to blend it to perfection. My hair is also very heavy and she thinned it to feel light and airy! My daughter said its the most stylish cut I've had in years! The salon also was very cute, extremely clean. Over all a great experience! read more

Michele cut, added partial highlights and styled my hair, and I was very very happy with the results. This is the kind of salon you absolutely want to come back to, not just for the incredible hair-cut, but also for the very pampered experience. Michele took her time with my hair and didn't rush. I felt like a special person at a day spa, but this is a place for haircuts, not hot tea, warm towels and relaxation! How many places nowadays can you go to and be treated like you're the best person that ever walked through the door? I highly recommend coming here if you want to feel special! Thank you, Michele! I am very impressed by her talent and professionalism. Not only is she an amazing hairstylist but she has created such a beautiful atmosphere.
