I picked this salon at random because I don't have a local stylist yet and it was conveniently located and had a cool name. Seriously. I just needed my bangs trimmed. I was able to get an appointment within a few days, was greeted and taken back promptly after I arrived, and was only charged ten dollars. Gabby was efficient and professional (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly!). The salon has a great vibe and is right in town, so allow some time to park. read more

Really disappointed with my experience at Bang Salon--and this isn't the first time. I booked an appointment with Brita, arrived on time, and was told my booking had been assigned to another hairdresser. Still, I was told to sit and wait, and that I would be taken care of. So I waited--only to find out later that another client had the actual confirmed time with Brita. Brita then told me I'd need to wait 20 more minutes, but I was on my lunch break, which is exactly why I booked ahead. I ended up walking out with nothing. This is actually the second time I've experienced disorganization and wait times at this salon. When I called to speak with a manager, I was met with more disappointment. Ashley interrupted me several times and started off by saying "Brita is very popular," as if that excused what happened. She also corrected me rudely when I referred to the front desk as a receptionist, saying it was another stylist--as if that detail even mattered. In the end, all I got was a quick "sorry." No solution, no accountability, no real customer care. After two failed visits, I won't be back--and I wouldn't recommend Bang Salon to anyone who values their time or professionalism. read more

One star ,because giving zero stars is not allowed. I used to go here many , many , many years ago when it was under different ownership and in a different location. I've given this place 4 chances over the last 2 years to do a simple, single-color root touch up, thorough wash and thorough rinse. That's it.... not even a blow out, cut or style.Every single time, I have been left with copious amounts of hair dye in my hair and on my skin. The stylists are sloppy, and appear unprofessional. They look sloppy in their appearance (despite cleaning up nice for the posted photo shoot) and look like they put zero effort into their own presentation. I had dye dripped onto my clothing. My stylist today took 4 personal phone calls while doing my hair. She BARELY washed my hair ( which has been the case EACH time I have gone here) so I guess gone are the days of the relaxing and thorough scalp scrubbing. It's like they never learned how to properly wash and my hair is NEVER rinsed thoroughly. She used the same , dirty , single hair dye remover cloth on me to wipe excess color after application and then to "clean up" after my "wash" and I STILL left with color all over me, literally. On my way out, I asked the lady at the front desk for another wipe and she first said she "didn't know is she had any" and then handed me a wipe out of a container which was already color-stained and assured me that it "hadn't been used". I sat in my truck and used my own alcohol wipes to clean myself up. After paying for a service, I had to come home and re-wash my hair. This place is sloppy in every way, the equipment and furnishings are falling apart and shabby. I question the cleanliness based on what I saw. This is not a salon experience. I have even emailed the owners twice (after my first 2 visits) to ask them to remind their stylists on the importance through washing, rinsing and clean up. So, that's it for me. Im all about giving folks another chance in case of an "off day" but if you're expecting "Bang" for your buck and time, don't go here. Two hours in a chair for a root touch up and left in a mess. Felt ignored and had to keep myself from laughing during my "wash", as my stylist barely touched my scalp and was grunting yet had the energy to take a personal call in the middle of my "wash".... seriously! read more

Other than 2 year old, grown out, mostly washed out box dye that I was fully transparent with my stylist about, I had virgin brown hair and asked for a cool blond balayage. My hair turned out blocky with no dimension and bright yellow. I asked a stylist from another salon about color correction and she said that the initial stylist at Bang should have informed me that it would take 3-4 sessions to get to my desired color. I also got a haircut-- the stylist did not allot me enough time and my haircut was extremely rushed with another client waiting and no styling. I would like to return to give the salon another chance but so far I have had an unfortunate experience-- The stylist should have told me it would take multiple sessions, and she should have offered to fix my botched hair. read more

Ashley Souza did a beautiful job adding a bunch of highlights to my hair to help me transition into a blonde after two years of grow out! I originally made the appointment for a more expensive session of balayage, but she said the inspo photo I showed her was more of a highlight route and recommended we do that instead (which was a bit cheaper than the original quote for the balayage). It was really nice of her to consider what I really wanted even if that meant she lost a few bucks. She did a great job with my hair, I have fine hair but A LOT of it. She was kind and courteous even tho my hair took a little long than she had hoped. She remained professional and took care of me. Ashley is sweet and I plan to go see her again! read more

As soon as I came in and sat in her chair i showed her pictures and a brief description of what i wanted. betsy 100% delivered and I am so beyond satisfied and grateful she took time to listen and understand what I wanted done then she completed the task!! STEER CLEAR! Especially of Ann Marie (the owner)!! This is the worst haircut I have ever gotten. I asked for long layers and she gave me choppy layers that start at half the length of my hair. I have tried to grow out my layers now for 3 years and am now back at square one. She makes it seem like she understands what you want but she really doesn't get it. I have tried to call them to have them fix my hair or at least provide a refund since I spent the last hour literally bawling my eyes out and they won't pick up the phone. I could have just went to great clips and probably gotten a better haircut. Just awful. read more

Best salon is nevada county periodt! It's such a cozy building, and it's in a great location in downtown on West Main st. It's so cozy inside, well decorated and the original walls are showing which in my opinion is gorgeous. The rooms in the back for nails and facials and such are beautiful too! They are currently installing a brand new facial/massage/waxing room in the back, so come by for that too! Apple D is the best stylist here, and so are all the other ladies. Apple is fabulous. Or in the words of my tween, epic and pro, or whatever new-fangled words the youngins are using these days). My hair looks great. And Apple was kind and told me my last three self-hair cuts were actually pretty good. (Thank you you-tube for teaching me how to not butcher my hair while cutting it myself and how to take apart my vacuum. ) Apple is five stars. Highly, highly recommend. But if you're one of those people who think that people should wear masks while indoors during the pandemic, then this probably isn't your place. Apple was masked. Another stylist was masked. I was masked. But the stylist next to me and the woman whose hair she was cutting were not masked. Nor was the other customer. Apparently, customers can decide whether they want to wear a mask, and can even ask their stylist to take off their mask. So yeah, despite the wonder of Apple and her amazing skills, I won't be back or take the tween there to get a haircut until we are both fully vaccinated. On the COVID-front, the salon gets one star. But maybe this is how most of the salons in Grass Valley are operating these days. read more

And if you do happen to have an issue & prefer an owner who actually gets back to customers about issues, once again DO NOT COME HERE! I got my haircut on 5/17 and Shari literally chopped all of my damn hair off. She gave me the opposite of EVERYTHING I asked for. I messaged the owner to try to get something worked out to get it fixed, and literally haven't heard a single thing back. If you want customers to be pleased and come back, maybe give a damn about your salon. These are small mountain towns and I'm more than happy to spread the word about my experience here. Everyone else has been flabbergasted at my haircut because of how absolutely horrible it is and the fact that I paid $80 to have my hair ruined. Screw this salon!!!!! read more

Thankfully my hair turned out okay but not great. Her station was very unsanitary with hair all over the place and partially swept up in her section. Wasn't a fan of the way my stylist blow dried my hair by practically hitting my head for what felt like 15 minutes that was definitely a first being on the verge of tears getting my hair blow dried. Then proceeded to make me stand and cut my hair without a cape on me getting my hair all over me. I was also charged more then what I signed up for. read more

Jaqueline is extremely talented and meticulous in her work. She transformed my horrible hair color, previously massively messed up from another "colorist", into the most beautiful blonde highlights ever. She did exactly what I showed her via photos, and was also careful not to damage my hair. She knew exactly what to do. If you need flawless color, and want your hair looking fabulous, go and see her! Needed a haircut badly...thanks COVID. Read good reviews so I took a chance on booking an appointment. It was super easy on the website and I didn't have to wait 6 weeks to get an appointment. Great location downtown Grass Valley super convenient. When you walk in the place has this shabby chic feel to it. Not super bright and modern like some salons. Felt at home right away. Was greeted right away and Janessa cut my hair. She spent the time asking what I was looking to have done and added her thoughts. After she was done I mentioned next time we'll go shorter. She immediately said let's do it now! I felt bad since she was done but assured me it was fine. Gave some great tips on things I can do at home and they work!! I have been wanting to try this salon for a while, I love the decor and atmosphere. I initially made an appointment and was told it was Monday morning, I showed up, and it turned out to be the wrong Monday, I had assumed that because the receptionist told me Monday, and no date, she meant the following Monday. But it was for a Monday three weeks in the future. Understandable misunderstanding, but it would have been annoying if I had to travel any significant distance. They were super nice about it and it was no big thing. When I showed up for my wrong appointment Christa rescheduled me for the following Wednesday. I was skeptical at first, I've only gotten my hair cut in a salon one other time, I'm a lazy girl when it comes to hair. I was worried that Christa would give me a cut that ended up being high maintenance, or would clash with my curls, since she seemed disappointed to find out I didn't blow dry or heat style my hair. She blew it out to see the cut and I left the salon feeling apprehensive. Although I loved the way it looked initially, I know I'm not going to style it everyday, I don't even own a hairdryer. However, after the first wash my hair dried into what looked exactly like a hairstyle. No extra work, no clashing with curls. My hair is thinned out in the best way possible, it doesn't tangle as easy, it's inexplicably softer and I wake up looking like a cool girl with half a clue about what to do to my hair. I can't say enough about Bang! Hair Salon and the amazing APPLE!!! My first trip to get my hair cut in decades. Apple texted me about what photos I'd like to use as an example of what type of haircut I wanted. She was thorough, and has amazing talents for listening to what you want and need. She walks you through every step, and is so knowledgeable about ever! She's a chemist (my hair color turned out way better than I could describe to her ) she just knew what I wanted, she's an artist (the fact she could take my fine limp hair and perform miracles!!!) and she is so enthusiastic!!! I almost had nightmares about cutting off my hair, especially in my senior years. I'm walking on air and am feeling she not only got the color spectacular but the cut and how to style it on my own is so helpful. I can't wait to go back! Hair Salon rose to the front of what I was looking for. I called on Wednesday and got a Friday appointment with Ann Marie. I lucked out! She made my hair look full and so pretty. As she worked, she made suggestions and I trusted her good judgement. Sure glad I did. When I got back to our place, my husband commented "Good hair!" I like it when he says that! As a guy, I didn't used to care too much about where or who cut my hair.....however, after a horrible hatchet job at another local place, I turned to Bang to restore my faith in hair stylin.. I'd come here a few times before to get a nice cut, but now, I only go here. Thankfully Ashley saved me from the monstrosity that was my previous cut, and now she's the only one I'll let touch the gold which is my silky blonde hair (ok, so I'm dirty brown, but whatever). Ashley Renee is my stylist, and before her not only did I lack style, but I never even considered that I would one day say that I had a stylist. This business is not in compliance with county health and safety mandates. I was foolish to give a credit card number when scheduling this appointment. Their policy is to charge $50 if you don't give notice of cancellation 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. I called and left a message regarding civic protocols in the proper allowed time but my call was not answered for another 45 minutes. So I cancelled 23 plus hours before my appointment. I cancelled because they don't follow proper health and safety requirements. My card was charged $50. I haven't had a hair cut in a couple of years and was looking for a new stylist. I get my hair cut every 5 weeks. So due to their poor business practices they have lost a client. read more

Came here after a friend recommended the salon. Apple had an opening and I had my first balayage appointment with her. She's very passionate about what she does and getting the results the client wants. My app took longer time than excepted because I have thick long hair. Apple still took her time with positive attitude doing my hair with care so it didn't get damaged during the process and I got the final results I wanted. She does offer a great color deal too! I asked Christa for an icy blonde, and showed her a picture. She said she could achieve it no problem. I left with pee yellow and brassy uneven hair. There were also several bleach bleeds. I called her two days later and kindly told her I wasn't happy. She didn't offer to fix it. I had my hair done by someone else one week later and got exactly what I asked for. I asked Christa for a refund and she refused and was unbelievably rude. I have never had to ask for a hair refund before. I can't believe the quality of work and customer service. read more
