Western Burger and side of wavy fries
    Laura R.

So glad this place has re-opened! It was the Boulevard, still drawn on the glass behind the bar, but has a new name, new look and feel. It's been open since early Dec. 2024 and it was our first time here. Front door is a smooth entry but if you come in the back door there is a tiny step so be careful. Bar has the same footprint and there are a mix of high tops and regular tables. Lots of regulars & locals at the bar. Good menu of burgers, sandwiches and dinner options, even a few desserts. We stopped in for a quick lunch. Had burgers, split some wavy fries and a drink. Burgers were small (only 4 oz) but tasty! Eileen is a good pour, efficient & friendly. We will definitely be back.

I had been to the Boulevard plenty of times when the previous over had it and it was more of a bar food only atmosphere and I would say it was a place I thought of to go to dinner; so I was happy to read some reviews about the improvements the new ownership had made and thought my friend and I would give it a try. Reading several posts about the delicious Chicken French I was excited to give it a try and then always take some home for dinner if there were leftovers. Well needless to say, they don't serve any of "those type meals" until after 4pm and it was only 1:30pm when we arrived for a late lunch. The portion of the menu that was available during the day was ok. My friend had a chicken BLT sandwich which was really good he said and I had 5 "jumbo" wings for $10 and a Cesar salad with grilled chicken - both were just average- and the Cesar dressing was more of an Italian dressing than Cesar. One ginger ale and two waters (just tap) came to $60 without tip. The parking lot had a bunch of cars but there was only one other couple there seated at the bar. Going to go back to try the French sauce, but I'm not sure anything from today would draw me back in.

Eaten here half a dozen times since they opened and happy to leave a positive review! Chosen a different meal each visit - Sunday sauce, burgers, their HUGE in-house breaded chicken tenders, Cajun Alfredo, good salads - even great side salads served w entrees. Happy w bar and table service - always the same nice people. Glad to see BLVD be a great addition to the neighborhood!

Hard to enter. Awkward walking in. Overwhelming amount of tv. Burger let a lot to be desired. I would not come here again

I just had a surprise birthday lunch for my brother with 10 people. We had the best waitress serving us!!! She was not only very attentive, but also extremely funny and fit right in with our group. This was all of our first time at the BLVD Grill. I have to say honestly that it was the best Swiss mushroom burger that I have ever had!!! And the waffle fries were delicious, too. Every person at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I can tell you that you now have 10 more new customers who will definitely be coming back again and again! My aunt and uncle were the original owners of the Boulevard restaurant. It was really nice to be back and enjoy a fantastic meal! You have done a remarkable job redoing the place! Thank you for the great service and excellent food !

This is the best for folks who like to bring their pups everywhere and I wish I had known sooner. I also heard they have a rockin' weeknight karaoke, and I know my partner and I will be hitting that up at some point in the near future. This is your standard Monroe Ave dive (not the diviest there is but divey nevertheless) and it fits in great with the rest of the Monroe scene. I went with a raspberry vodka soda and it was perfectly strong, made by a super friendly bartender who was attentive to everyone seated. I will for sure be back for drinks with friends when I am in the area (and to try some food!)

Turcotts Taproom got more than a face lift from the days it was Lola's. It got a soul transplant…read more Or maybe a soul merge. Lola's had a great run, and the well known corner real estate on Monroe Ave ( a major conduit to downtown Rochester) has had several past lives. Today's reincarnation is that of Turcotts. Turcotts belong to the same family of tap houses as Oxfords, Magpie's, Murphy's law, and Brass (check out the Yelp reviews). Bye bye to craft martinis and burlesque nights with the scantily dressed and goth-ish lady staff. Enter stage left: mixologists with that gritty-Monroe Ave-Dude! Where have you been my whole life-being. Instant liquid compadre and confidant. Maybe because of the heavy pours, but I'm sticking to my stance of good people good drinks. Prove me wrong. And now a brief history... This multigenerational-"family"-owned network of bars lost a dear and close "family" member when the longtime manager of Oxford's passed away. As an homage to this veteran bar manager the owners approached his family and asked if they could honor the fallen by renaming Lola's after him....or more exactly his family name: Turncott! Hence, Turcotts. Cheers to this! The physical layout of this watering hole has always been a challenge. Not only for the staff but for the patrons as well. It's narrow and doesn't accommodate groups greater than two. So if you're on date night or rocking lower Monroe Ave solo; then be sure give Turcotts some play. The makeover this establishment received is a huge upgrade. Goodbye great dive bar and hello jump off spot. Generous accents of red leather trim with matte black wood trip gives the place a good attempt at being not divvy- almost reminiscent of the British turncoats!...A good checkpoint on any Monroe Ave adventure. The drinks at Turncotts are definitely on par with the neighborhood. Depending on your relationship with the mixologist behind the bar, you're gonna have that off menu specialty or you're ordering one of the staples on the cocktail menu. You'll get a good drink with any choice. Don't look for the craft beverage on tap, as they offer little that's not bottled. Bottom line: tip your bartender and enjoy life. You're either gonna kick off at Turncotts or splashdown here. That's what makes the patron mix oh so good. If you hit the magic hours between 10 and midnight, you'll definitely have a story to tell at the water cooler. Overall: great homage to a fallen friend. Decent atmosphere with decent drinks. Either we start here or end here... Either way: Tip your bartender and party on Wayne.

Service was really slow because they were understaffed for the size of the crowd. But the servers were attentive and nobody had an attitude like they didn't want to help you. They were clearly working their tushies off. The chicken tenders are beer battered which was a little bizarre but also not bad. The poutine, and all the other fried potato options, are clearly frozen from a bag but fine. I would definitely go back to try drink specials or the hot wings. In other words, I'd go back for the bar.

When we arrived we asked about the drink specials and the waiter seemed clueless about them. There was no menu with them listed or at least he said there wasn't one. So he attempted to verbally give us the choices but he wasn't sure about the ingredients for many of them. If you're going to promote your drinks is it too much to have a menu with them? So we get our drink (chose the seasonal milkshake) and omg it is nothing like the promoted pictures. Pretty sure it's missing an entire ingredient (caramel), it's watery and lackluster. I would have been much more successful with a blender at home. Then to top off this oh so great experience, our waiter was just rude. He was so not open to answering any questions or guiding us. This was our first time here and it felt like he couldn't be bothered. When he brought our drinks he essentially just disappeared. And it wasn't crowded so it's not like he was tending to tons of tables, it felt like he was avoiding our table. It's was super strange and definitely not welcoming. I am in no hurry to return, this experience really soured our day. It seems like their advertisements are just smoke and mirrors. Don't waste your time.

Then COME ON DOWN TO BRADFORD'S on Monroe Avenue! You'll be denied service based on your skin color, and Gabby will call you the n-word as many times as she has black cousins (up to 10)! Just this weekend, two black women tried to get a drink, but instead of getting them a beer, Gabby got aggressive because she mistakenly thought one of them was hitting on her boyfriend. She then seemingly could not tell the difference between her and a completely different black woman, because when she came up to the bar and said, "Hello, how are you", Gabby told her to, "get the f--- out". Then she started yelling at her, using the n-word at least 8 times. But don't worry! Gabby's not racist, because she has 10 black cousins! As a bonus, she kicked out ALL the black people from the bar, even though none of them knew each other. The owner Brad Strine, who happened to be in the bar at the time, shuffled them out of the door while promising to "talk to" Gabby. See! Things started off great. The servers are very welcoming! We got some water run over, I don't love that they don't have menus and that you have to use your phone. I understand the "convenience" but it's much more convenient to just have a menu. So, we ordered and the pretzel came pretty quick which we got as an appetizer. Four stars it was very yummy, honey mustard was good, queso was good, too much salt on the pretzel though, way too much salt lol, but it was good. Then there was a bit of a wait for our burgers, not forever but a little bit of a wait. The portions are interesting. The fries are shoe string which I personally think is the crappiest form of fry in existence so that's one strike. One of our fries was normal and one of them was bacon and cheese. It was okay but it's a fairly small portion of fries for a $20 dish. As for the burgers we got a plain burger with mozzarella cheese and we got a double burger with onion rings bacon and barbecue sauce on it. They were both good, buns were good, burgers were good, No real complaints but also not like wow I want this again. A bit pricey for what you're getting especially with the slow service.I would say the burgers are similar if a little smaller than Bill Gray's. Then we had a bit of a stumbling block. At this point it was about 5:40\ 5:30 and they were in full swing for dinner Rush on a Wednesday and very understaffed. After half an hour of waiting for our server to come back, I had to get up and go to the bar to order the milkshake. At one point someone came and cleared our dishes and asked us if we wanted more water to which we said yes and they never showed back up. That's definitely a very strong second strike. Bill came to $72 which seems utterly ridiculous for a couple of burgers and fries, a pretzel and a milkshake even if it's a very impressive milkshake. I don't think it was a $20 milkshake. It had an ice cream sandwich on it, two brownie bites and a cosmic brownie. Frosting along the rim with some little candies kind of pressed into the frosting. It looked great and it was good, I just don't think it was $20 good. $15 probably would have been fair. Even though it took them a while to get our order and to get us our milkshake and I had to go track someone down in order to order it they were pretty quick to take our money when it was time to pay the check. They also do one of those awkward things where they have a handheld credit card machine that they pop your card into and set it down while they stand there and watch you put in the tip which I never love. All in all was it interesting? Sure and she really enjoyed it and that's what it was about. I don't see us going back frequently. Small side note for the colder months it's a relatively small restaurant and the front door opens to the street so every time someone either comes in or goes out a freezing gust of air blows through the whole restaurant so come dressed for cold weather.
