The absolute BEST feature of Motel L is the free breakfast. Every morning there are so many options! Meats, breads, cheeses, pickles, vegetables, yogurt, toppings, and of course, classic Swedish cinnamon buns. I wake up every morning so eager to go down to breakfast. The rooms are plenty spacious for one person especially if you are traveling on business. My room had good wifi and a great shower (rain fall shower head!). I am overwhelmed by the staff's friendliness and willingness to assist me on my trip for work. Absolutely wonderful. I would stay again in a minute.

My room is not large, but very comfortable as I plan to be out more than I'm in the room. My only two complaints are there is no refrigerator in the room, and there's no ice machine on each floor. This is important if you are someone who must keep items cold....medicine and infant formula are two examples that come to mind. I love public transport in Stockholm, so I decided to check out the ease of use from this hotel, and I wasn't disappointed. The tram stops in the center traffic island steps from the front door of the hotel! With one stop on tram, I had access to several metro lines to venture around the city very easily. I plan to eat breakfast away from the hotel on tomorrow, but I will try the breakfast before my stay ends. Breakfast is only 125 SEK (about $12.50 at the time of this review) if you book on a platform such as Expedia that offers a rate without breakfast. It is only my first night, but I am impressed and I recommend this establishment so long as having a refrigerator is not a deal-breaker for you.

The entry way to the hotel is stunning with a sweeping circular staircase, which is dramatic, but perhaps a bit scary for some people. large windows and a modern appearance made for an inviting welcome. As impressed as I was with the lobby, I was more impressed with the actual room, which was spacious and actually had room to unpack and store items. I loved the wood design (see photos) and the overall appearance of the room looked very Scandinavian. As noted by other reviewers, there is a hidden closet near the bathroom (which is also a bit hidden). The door swings out to reveal a hanging closet and a couple of storage drawers). The location of the hotel is perfect because it's very near the waterfront and very close to the old city. The access to restaurants and shops is close enough that you can walk anywhere. The included breakfast buffet was excellent with an egg station that made some of the best omelets I've ever tasted. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel.

Nestled near the Slussen metro station, the hotel offers stunning views of Gamla Stan and Riddarfjärden, making it a perfect spot for exploring Stockholm's historic charm and Södermalm's trendy scene. Check-in was smooth, with the staff warmly acknowledging my Diamond status. The room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, with a comfy bed and those iconic floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the waterfront. But let's talk about the design since nothing in this hotel is quite what you'd expect! Downstairs, the lobby and public areas are a maze of curves, with hardly a straight line in sight. It's like walking through a piece of modern art, which adds a fun, quirky charm to the experience. The room itself felt like a Jenga puzzle brought to life. The closets had an unusual, almost playful layout that made unpacking an adventure. The bathroom was anything but boring as its bold, unconventional design stood out with creative fixtures and a layout that kept things interesting. While the quirky aesthetics were memorable, they might not suit everyone's taste if you prefer straightforward functionality. The Diamond breakfast was a highlight, served in a bright space with a jaw-dropping view of the water and Gamla Stan. The buffet was fantastic, offering everything from fresh pastries and fruits to hot dishes and Swedish specialties like herring. The executive lounge, another great perk for those with access, was a stylish haven with tasty snacks, drinks, and that same gorgeous view. It was perfect for unwinding or catching up on work. The bar was a great spot for an evening drink, and the hotel's location made exploring nearby attractions a breeze. My only minor gripe was occasional Wi-Fi hiccups, but they didn't overshadow the stay. The gym and sauna looked nice, though I didn't get a chance to use them. For Hilton Diamond members, the breakfast and lounge perks elevate this hotel, and its bold design adds character you won't forget. The Hilton Stockholm Slussen is a fantastic choice for a unique, comfortable stay just be ready for some architectural surprises! I'd recommend it and would return, though I docked a star for the slightly impractical room layout.

The Cafe in the hotel was fantastic and convenient and offered a wonderful breakfast. The staff were also very kind. What we didn't love: apartment 5 was on the first floor and was very very loud. We heard delivery trucks coming in as early as 4:30 in the morning every day. We heard Tour groups walking right by our window every day at all hours of the day. If we opened the windows, the noise was very very loud. There was also a clock from the Stockholm church that rang 24 hours a day every 15 minutes. The bed in the apartment was two small Narrow beds pushed together. Unfortunately the shower did not drain and caused a lot of flooding in the bathroom every time we bathed. Anytime we used the bathroom automatic lights would turn on which would light up the entire apartment because there was glass around the bathroom near the ceiling. There was no way to control this. The lights would stay on for five minutes. There was a smell in the apartment that was similar to kitty litter which we were told was likely from the drains in the sink. Lastly a fire alarm went off one morning time is the fire alarm go off at 4:30am---we didn't hear this initially because we had earplugs on. Once we heard it we called the front desk staff and sadly they didn't answer---prompting us to get dressed and run across the street to notify them. One of the perils of wearing earplugs so you can sleep!! If you are assigned to apartment 5 we recommend ear plugs and a sleep mask over your eyes any time you attempt to sleep, flipflops for the shower as you will be soaked in water on the floor, a candle to freshen up the smell in the unit, and fans to try and remove the smell from the unit. This unit may be ideal for someone hard of hearing or deaf. Enjoy!!
